8. PLACING THE NOTES ON THE STAFF
- You must write them from left to right.
- Those notes which are placed under 3rd line must have
the stem (plica) down. Those which are place above 3rd
line must have the stem up.
- Note B “si” is located on the 3rd line, so you can write the
stem up or down. It is up to you.

• On 2/4 measure we have two beats (pulses) to
complete with figures and silences.
• On ¾ measures we have three beats (pulses) to
complete with figures and silences.
• On 4/4 measure we have four beats to complete
with figures and silences.
En galego/español a palabra compás ten dous significados: por un lado é a fracción numérica que
colocamos ao principio do pentagrama para indicar os pulsos e acentos, por outro lado é o
espazo que temos entre as liñas divisorias.
En inglés a fracción chámase measure, e o espazo entre liñas divisorias chámase bar.
