Comparative Adjectives
In English, if you want to compare something, you add –er to the end of
the word and sometimes you add more before the word.
For example: The temperature in winter is colder than in summer.
The Avengers: End game is more interesting than Titanic.
Adjective Comparative
Form
Adjective Comparative Form
good better important more important
bad worse independient more independient
clean cleaner interesting more interesting
friendly friendlier playful more playful
gentle gentler beautiful more beautiful
cute cuter intelligent more intelligent
fast faster delicious more delicious
small smaller
A comparative adjective is used to compare one person, action, thing or state to
another. It adds the suffix -er to the original adjective.
e.g. brighter
‘bright’ is the original adjective. ‘-er’ is the suffix.
It is comparing two things only.
E.g. Sam’s torch is brighter than John’s torch.
Big - Bigger

mouse.
The elephant is big.
Small - Smaller
The mouse is small.
The ant is smaller than the mouse.
Warm - Warmer
The hoodie is warm.
The jacket is warmer than the
hoodie.
Cold - Colder
The soda is cold.
The ice cream is colder than
the soda.
Can you choose the correct word in each sentence to add the suffix –er to?

auntie’s.
