People who try to unify Europe:
They shall not cleave one to another [2v43]
10. Divisions Nations of Western Europe [2v41,42,43; 7v24]
Vandals [uprooted by Papal Rome]
-ancient Germanic tribe of Jutland (now in Denmark), who migrated to the
valley of the Odra (Oder) River about the 5th century bc.
-the Vandals' power began to decline after Gaiseric's death in 477, and in
534 they were defeated by the Byzantine general Belsarius.
Ostrogoths [uprooted by Papal Rome]
-With the permission of Rome, they settled in Pannonia, an area now
including western Hungary, northern Croatia, Slovenia, and eastern
Austria. They were joined by other Ostrogoths who had taken refuge
within the Roman Empire at the coming of the Asians. In 474 Theodoric,
the greatest of the Ostrogothic kings, was elected to the throne.
11. Divisions Nations of Western Europe [2v41,42,43; 7v24]
Heruli [uprooted by Papal Rome]
- warlike Teutonic tribe, probably expelled from Scandinavia before the
middle of the 3rd century. According to medieval historians, the Heruli
were allies of the Goths on marauding expeditions around the coasts of
the Black and Aegean seas about 260. In the early 6th century the Heruli
Kingdom in the Elbe River Basin was vanquished and dissolved by the
Lombards. The Heruli were dispersed; some of them migrated to
Scandinavia and others entered the Roman army. After the middle of the
6th century the name ceased to be used.
Anglo-Saxons
-member of one of the West Germanic peoples who settled in Britain
from the fifth century ad and were dominant until 1066. They included
the Angles, Saxons, and Jutes.
12. Divisions Nations of Western Europe [2v41,42,43; 7v24]
Franks
-group of Germanic tribes that, about the middle of the 3rd century ad,
dwelt along the middle and lower Rhine River[junction of the Main River
at Mainz, in Germany]. The Franks appeared in the Roman provinces
around 253 and soon thereafter established themselves in two principal
groups, the Salian and the Ripuarian. The Salian Franks inhabited the
territory along the lower stretches of the Rhine, and the Ripuarian Franks
lived along the middle course of the river. The Salians were conquered by
the Roman emperor Julian in 358 and became allies of Rome. During the
early 5th century, when the Romans retired from the Rhine, the Salians
established themselves in most of the territory north of the
-Loire River.
Visigoths
-western Goths, ancient Germanic peoples who invaded the Roman
Empire beginning in the 4th century ad, settling in areas of what are now
Spain, Portugal, and France.
13. Divisions Nations of Western Europe [2v41,42,43; 7v24]
Lombards
- a member of an ancient Germanic people who settled in northern Italy
during the 6th century ad, where they soon became the dominant people.
The Lombards were gradually converted to Christianity, adopted the Latin
language, and were assimilated by the inhabitants of the land. The
Lombard dynasty was overthrown in 774 by Charlemagne.
Alemanni
-confederacy of Germanic tribes inhabiting the region (called
Alamannia) between the Main and Danube rivers in the 3rd century.
They invaded Gaul several times and, early in the 5th century,
conquered the territory that is now Alsace and a large part of
Switzerland. In 496 they were conquered by Clovis I, king of the Salian
Franks, and the southern part of their territory was included in the duchy
of Alamannia. The modern name for Germany in many Romance
languages (French Allemagne; Spanish Alemania) is derived from the
name of these tribes.
14. Divisions Nations of Western Europe [2v41,42,43; 7v24]
Suevi
-collective name for a number of German tribes (including the
Marcomanni and Lombards), mentioned in the 1st century bc by Julius
Caesar as dwelling east of the Rhine River. The Roman historian
Cornelius Tacitus described (1st century ad) them as inhabiting all central

the 6th century when they were finally subjugated by the Visigoths. The
Suevi who remained in Germany are the ancestors of the medieval
Swabians.

15. Papal Rome[7v21,24,25; 8v10,11]
Supremacy began in 538 – 1798 A.D.
Symbol: Little Horn [7v8-uproots 3 horns; 8v10[8v8-out of one of the four winds]
-has a desolating career against God, His Sanctuary, and His saints
-called “transgression of desolation” [Dan 8 v 13]
-called “abomination that maketh desolate” [Dan 11 v31]
-Jesus referred to it as “the abomination of desolation” [Matt 24 v15]
-“daily sacrifice was taken away” by the little horn [Dan 8 v11]. The word “daily” in the
Hebrew is “Tamid” meaning “continual or regular”. Tamid is used in Exodus,
Leviticus and Numbers in connection with the regular or continual
service of the sanctuary. The daily, continual features of the earthly
sanctuary all pointed forward to the unceasing, personal mediation of Christ as our
Great High Priest in heaven.[Heb 5 v6; 6 v20; 7 v3. 8, 16, 17, 21, 24, 25, 28; 10 v12;
13 v8]
-The heavenly ministry of Christ in the sanctuary is the true “daily” of Dan 8v11
-came up after the dissolution of the Roman Empire in the West [A.D. 476]
-power was to be supreme for 1260 years
16. Little Horn Defined [7v25]–as Papacy based on history.
a. shall speak [great] words against the most High,
[also Dan 8 v11]
-The Pope is as it were God on earth, sole sovereign
of the faithful of Christ, chief of kings, having
plentitude of power to whom has been in trusted by
the omnipotent God direction not only of the earthly
but also the heavenly kingdom. Lucius Ferraris,
Papa II Prompta Bibliotheca, Vol VI pp 25-29
b. shall wear out the saints of the most High
[also Dan v9-12]
-during the Middle Ages estimated 50,000,000
martyrs were put to death by the papal sword. The
Inquisition was both the creation and tool of papal
power for exterminating heretics.
c. think to change times and laws: [also Dan 2 v25]
-The papacy freely admits she is responsible for
making Sunday a day of worship. Second
commandment is completely taken out, the tenth is
divided into 2 and the fourth is changed.
17. Little Horn Defined [7v25]–as Papacy based on history.
d. given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time 1260
- time = 1 year [=360 days]
-times = 2 years [360 x 360 days = 720 days]
-dividing of time = half prophetic years [=180 days]
-The period of papal supremacy began in A.D. 538 when the Ostrogoths, the
last of the three opposing powers, were rooted up. The closing of the 1260
years would be in 1798. On February 10, 1798, a French army under the
leadership of Berthier entered Rome and took the Pope prisoner.

39. Earthly Sanctuary
-God instructed Moses to build as His earthly dwelling place [Ex 25 v8] the first
sanctuary that functioned under the first [old] covenant [Heb 9 v1].
40. 2:39 And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee,
and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule
over all the earth.
2:40 And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch
as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all [things]: and as
iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and
bruise.
2:41 And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of
potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided;
but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch
as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.
2:42 And [as] the toes of the feet [were] part of iron, and part
of clay, [so] the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly
broken.
2:43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they
shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they
shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed
with clay.
2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven
set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the
kingdom shall not be left to other people, [but] it shall break
in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall
stand for ever.
2:45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of
the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the
iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great
God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass
hereafter: and the dream [is] certain, and the interpretation
thereof sure.
2:1 And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar
Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit
was troubled, and his sleep brake from him.
2:19 Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night
vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.
2:31 Thou, O king, sawest, and behold a great image. This
great image, whose brightness [was] excellent, stood
before thee; and the form thereof [was] terrible.
2:32 This image's head [was] of fine gold, his breast and
his arms of silver, his belly and his thighs of brass,
2:33 His legs of iron, his feet part of iron and part of clay.
2:34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without
hands, which smote the image upon his feet [that were]
of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.
2:35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and
the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the
chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind
carried them away, that no place was found for them:
and the stone that smote the image became a great
mountain, and filled the whole earth.
2:38 And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts
of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given
into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all.
Thou [art] this head of gold.
Daniel Chapter 2 [Kingdoms]
41. 7:1 In the first year of Belshazzar king
of Babylon Daniel had a dream and
visions of his head upon his bed:
then he wrote the dream, [and] told
the sum of the matters.
7:3 And four great beasts came up
from the sea, diverse one from
another.
7:4 The first [was] like a lion, and had
eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings
thereof were plucked, and it was
lifted up from the earth, and made
stand upon the feet as a man, and a
man's heart was given to it.
7:5 And behold another beast, a
second, like to a bear, and it raised
up itself on one side, and [it had]
three ribs in the mouth of it between
the teeth of it: and they said thus
unto it, Arise, devour much flesh. .
Daniel Chapter 7 [Papacy]
7:6 After this I beheld, and lo another,
like a leopard, which had upon the
back of it four wings of a fowl; the
beast had also four heads; and
dominion was given to it
7:7 After this I saw in the night visions,
and behold a fourth beast, dreadful
and terrible, and strong exceedingly;
and it had great iron teeth: it
devoured and brake in pieces, and
stamped the residue with the feet of
it: and it [was] diverse from all the
beasts that [were] before it; and it
had ten horns.
7:8 I considered the horns, and,
behold, there came up among them
another little horn, before whom
there were three of the first horns
plucked up by the roots: and,
behold, in this horn [were] eyes like
the eyes of man, and a mouth
speaking great things.
down
42. 7:15 I Daniel was grieved in my spirit
in the midst of [my] body, and the
visions of my head troubled me.
7:16 I came near unto one of them
that stood by, and asked him the
truth of all this. So he told me, and
made me know the interpretation of
the things.
7:17 These great beasts, which are
four, [are] four kings, [which] shall
arise out of the earth.
7:18 But the saints of the most High
shall take the kingdom, and possess
the kingdom for ever, even for ever
and ever.
7:20 And of the ten horns that [were] in
his head, and [of] the other which
came up, and before whom three
fell; even [of] that horn that had
eyes, and a mouth that spake very
great things, whose look [was] more
stout than his fellows.
7:21 I beheld, and the same horn
made war with the saints, and
prevailed against them;
Daniel Chapter 7 [Papacy]
7:22 Until the Ancient of days came,
and judgment was given to the
saints of the most High; and the
time came that the saints
possessed the kingdom.
7:23 Thus he said, The fourth beast
shall be the fourth kingdom upon
earth, which shall be diverse from all
kingdoms, and shall devour the
whole earth, and shall tread it down,
and break it in pieces.
7:24 And the ten horns out of this
kingdom [are] ten kings [that] shall
arise: and another shall rise after
them; and he shall be diverse from
the first, and he shall subdue three
kings.
7:25 And he shall speak [great] words
against the most High, and shall
wear out the saints of the most
High, and think to change times and
laws: and they shall be given into
his hand until a time and times and
the dividing of time.
43. 8:1 In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar
a vision appeared unto me, [even unto] me
Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the
first. 8:3 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw,
and, behold, there stood before the river a ram
which had [two] horns: and the [two] horns
[were] high; but one [was] higher than the other,
and the higher came up last.
8:4 I saw the ram pushing westward, and
northward, and southward; so that no beasts
might stand before him, neither [was there any]
that could deliver out of his hand; but he did
according to his will, and became great.
8:5 And as I was considering, behold, an he goat
came from the west on the face of the whole
earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat
[had] a notable horn between his eyes.
8:6 And he came to the ram that had [two] horns,
which I had seen standing before the river, and
ran unto him in the fury of his power.
8:7 And I saw him come close unto the ram, and
he was moved with choler against him, and
smote the ram, and brake his two horns: and
there was no power in the ram to stand before
him, but he cast him down to the ground, and
stamped upon him: and there was none that
could deliver the ram out of his hand.
Daniel Chapter 8 [2300 days]
8:8 Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and
when he was strong, the great horn was
broken; and for it came up four notable ones
toward the four winds of heaven.
8:9 And out of one of them came forth a little
horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward
the south, and toward the east, and toward
the pleasant [land].
8:10 And it waxed great, [even] to the host of
heaven; and it cast down [some] of the host
and of the stars to the ground, and stamped
upon them.
8:11 Yea, he magnified [himself] even to the
prince of the host, and by him the daily
[sacrifice] was taken away, and the place of
his sanctuary was cast down.
8:12 And an host was given [him] against the
daily [sacrifice] by reason of transgression,
and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it
practiced, and prospered.
8:13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and
another saint said unto that certain [saint]
which spake, How long [shall be] the vision
[concerning] the daily [sacrifice], and the
transgression of desolation, to give both the
sanctuary and the host to be trodden under
foot? down
44. 8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and
three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be
cleansed.
8:15 And it came to pass, when I, [even] I Daniel,
had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning,
then, behold, there stood before me as the
appearance of a man.
8:16 And I heard a man's voice between [the
banks of] Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel,
make this [man] to understand the vision.
8:17 So he came near where I stood: and when he
came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he
said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at
the time of the end [shall be] the vision.
8:18 Now as he was speaking with me, I was in a
deep sleep on my face toward the ground: but he
touched me, and set me upright.
8:19 And he said, Behold, I will make thee know
what shall be in the last end of the indignation:
for at the time appointed the end [shall be].
8:20 The ram which thou sawest having [two]
horns [are] the kings of Media and Persia.
8:21 And the rough goat [is] the king of Grecia:
and the great horn that [is] between his eyes [is]
the first king.
Daniel Chapter 8 [2300 days]
8:22 Now that being broken, whereas four stood
up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of
the nation, but not in his power.
8:23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when
the transgressors are come to the full, a king of
fierce countenance, and understanding dark
sentences, shall stand up.
8:24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by
his own power: and he shall destroy
wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice,
and shall destroy the mighty and the holy
people.
8:25 And through his policy also he shall cause
craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall
magnify [himself] in his heart, and by peace
shall destroy many: he shall also stand up
against the Prince of princes; but he shall be
broken without hand.
8:26 And the vision of the evening and the
morning which was told [is] true: wherefore
shut thou up the vision; for it [shall be] for
many days.
8:27 And I Daniel fainted, and was sick [certain]
days; afterward I rose up, and did the king's
business; and I was astonished at the vision,
but none understood [it].
45. 9:25 Know therefore and understand, [that]
from the going forth of the commandment
to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the
Messiah the Prince [shall be] seven weeks,
and threescore and two weeks: the street
shall be built again, and the wall, even in
troublous times.
9:26 And after threescore and two weeks
shall Messiah be cut off, but not for
himself: and the people of the prince that
shall come shall destroy the city and the
sanctuary; and the end thereof [shall be]
with a flood, and unto the end of the war
desolations are determined.
9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with
many for one week: and in the midst of the
week he shall cause the sacrifice and the
oblation to cease, and for the
overspreading of abominations he shall
make [it] desolate, even until the
consummation, and that determined shall
be poured upon the desolate.
9:1 In the first year of Darius the son
of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the
Medes, which was made king over
the realm of the Chaldeans;
9:21 Yea, whiles I [was] speaking in
prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom
I had seen in the vision at the
beginning, being caused to fly
swiftly, touched me about the time
of the evening oblation.
9:24 Seventy weeks are determined
upon thy people and upon thy holy
city, to finish the transgression, and
to make an end of sins, and to make
reconciliation for iniquity, and to
bring in everlasting righteousness,
and to seal up the vision and
prophecy, and to anoint the Most
Holy.
Daniel Chapter 9 [70weeks]
46. They shall not cleave one to another [2v43]
People who tried to unify Europe:
Charlemagne (742 -814)
“Charles the Great” Frankish king and emperor., and
was among the greatest of military leaders in the Middle Ages.
He conquered much of western and central Europe. As emperor
of the West (800–814), Charlemagne revived the political and
cultural life the “Carolingian Renaissance” of European culture
that had disappeared with the fall of the Western Roman Empire
four centuries before.
Charles V (1500 -1558)
Holy Roman Emperor and, as Charles I, king of Spain.
During his reign as Holy Roman Emperor (1519–1558), he
struggled to keep his Roman Catholic empire together and was
finally forced to recognize Protestantism.
47. They shall not cleave one to another [2v43]
People who tried to unify Europe:
Louis XIV (1638 -1715)
He was a strong military leader and patron of the arts
whose long reign (1642–1715) saw a great strengthening of the
monarchy. Known as the Sun King
Napoleon Bonaparte (1769 -1821)
“Napoleon I Emperor of the French”. He made his
name as a general, was appointed first consul of France in
1799, and took the title of emperor in 1804. After conquering
most of Europe, he was exiled after defeat at the battle of
Waterloo (1815).
48. They shall not cleave one to another [2v43]
People who tried to unify Europe:
Friedrich Wilhelm Viktor Albert (1859-1941)
William II (of Germany and Prussia), a.k.a. Kaiser
Wilhelm, whose policies helped bring about World War I
(1914-1918).
Adolf Hitler (1889 -1945)
Austrian-born German Nazi leader. He co founded
the Nazi Party in Germany (1919) and became chancellor in
1933. His invasion of Poland in 1939 led to the outbreak of
World War II. He implemented anti-Semitic policies that led to
the Holocaust.
49. 1798 Events [7v25]
Berthier, Louis Alexandre (1753-1815)
French military leader, born in Versailles. He fought under the marquis
de Lafayette in the American Revolution. At the outbreak of the French
Revolution, Berthier was appointed major general of the National Guard of
Versailles and rose to be a general of division and chief of staff of the French
army in Italy. He was chief of staff to Napoleon Bonaparte in the Egyptian
campaign and was minister of war under Napoleon from 1799 to 1808. Berthier
became marshal of France in 1804 and in 1809 was made prince of
Wagram for his part in the battle of that name. Until 1814 he was
constantly with Napoleon, superintending the movements of the French armies.
When Napoleon began to suffer defeats, Berthier's loyalty wavered, and in 1814
he accepted the restoration of the Bourbons under Louis XVIII. On Napoleon's
return from Elba, Berthier retired to Bavaria. According to one story, he committed
suicide; according to another, he was murdered by members of a secret society.
50. 1798 Events [7v25]
Pius VI (1717-99), pope (1775-99)
-whose reign, ending in captivity by the French, marked the low point of the
modern papacy. His reign was marked by struggles with the rulers of Naples,
Tuscany (Toscana), Austria, and France over their efforts to restrict papal
jurisdiction over church administration. At the outbreak of the French Revolution,
all church property in France was confiscated and when the revolutionary regime
demanded an oath of fidelity from the clergy, Pius denounced (1791) the
revolution as unholy.
In 1798 French armies under General Louis Alexandre
Berthier marched on Rome, which had been declared a republic by
Roman revolutionaries in league with the French, and demanded that Pius VI
renounce his temporal sovereignty. At his refusal the pope was taken prisoner
and held first at Siena and ultimately at Valence, France, where he died.
51. Other Reference of the Destruction of the Temple [7v25]
Antiochus IV, called Epiphanes (“the illustrious”) (215?-164 B.C,)
-king of Syria and overlord of Palestine (175-164 B.C.), son of Antiochus III. From
171 to 168 B.C., he was involved in a war against Egypt, defeating two Egyptian
kings, Ptolemy VI and Ptolemy VIII. In 168 B.C., on a date corresponding
approximately to December 25 in the Gregorian calendar, the temple was
dedicated to the worship of the pagan god Zeus Olympius by order of Antiochus,
who forbade the practice of Judaism. An altar to Zeus was set up on the high
altar.
-When Judas Maccabee recaptured Jerusalem three years later, he had the
temple purged and a new altar put up in place of the desecrated one.. Under the
leadership of the Jewish priest Mattathias (died c. 167 B.C.) and his sons, the
Maccabees, the Jews revolted (168-160 B.C.) and drove Antiochus from
Jerusalem. Later he won victories over the Armenians and Persians.
52. 8v14 Unto two thousand and three
hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be
cleansed.
8v17 for at the time of the end [shall be]

53. 8v27 And I Daniel fainted, and was sick [certain] days; afterward I rose up, and did
the king's business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood [it]. [Last
verse of Daniel Chapter 8]
Daniel knew that the captivity would last for 70 years [Jer 29v10]. It began during the reign of
Nebuchadnezzar [605 B.C.], and now after the vision of ‘Daniel 8, it is already the reign of Darius [539 B.C.]
with almost 66 years have gone and yet Gabriel said that the sanctuary will be trampled for 2300 years?
Daniel began to pray as seen in early verses of chapter 9 until… [This will now link Daniel 8 and 9. ]
9v21 Yea, whiles I [was] speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel,
whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning…
9v22 And he informed [me], and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now
come forth to give thee skill and understanding.
9:23 At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am
come to show [thee]; for thou [art] greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter,
and consider the vision.
9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city…
9:25 Know therefore and understand, [that] from the going forth of the
commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem…
