2. How powerful is Money?
From a worldly point of view, money is
power; but from the Christian standpoint, love
is power. Intellectual and spiritual strength are
involved in this principle. Pure love has
special efficacy to do good, and can do
nothing but good. It prevents discord and
misery and brings the truest happiness.
Wealth is often an influence to corrupt and
destroy; force is strong to do hurt; but truth
and goodness are the properties of pure love.

3. How influential is wealth?
Wealth maketh many
friends; but the poor
is separated from his
neighbour.
Proverbs 19 v4
4. Safeguard against “The love of wealth”
6:9 But they that will be rich fall into
temptation and a snare, and [into] many
foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown
men in destruction and perdition.
6:10 For the love of money is the root
of all evil: which while some coveted
after, they have erred from the faith, and
pierced themselves through with many
sorrows.
I Timothy
5. Money is it a Blessing or a Curse?
Money is not necessarily a
curse; it is of high value
because if rightly appropriated,
it can do good in the salvation
of souls, in blessing others who
are poorer than ourselves.
Adventist Home 372.2
7. 1. Shun Debt
Many poor families are poor because they
spend their money as soon as they receive it.
{AH 392.4}
You must see that one should not
manage his affairs in a way that will incur
debt. . . . When one becomes involved in
debt, he is in one of Satan's nets, which he
sets for souls. . . . {AH 392.5}
Abstracting and using money for any
purpose, before it is earned, is a snare. {AH
392.6}
8. 2. Balancing the Budget
Many, very many, have not so educated
themselves that they can keep their
expenditures within the limit of their
income. They do not learn to adapt
themselves to circumstances, and they
borrow and borrow again and again and
become overwhelmed in debt, and
consequently they become discouraged
and disheartened. {AH 374.2}
9. If we can not prevent
ourselves from
borrowing, here are
certain principles to
follow.
10. For those who borrow..
The wicked borroweth,
and payeth not again: but
the righteous showeth
mercy, and giveth.
Psalms 37 v 21
11. When lending here are some
principles.
If thou lend money to [any of]
my people [that is] poor by thee,
thou shalt not be to him as an
usurer, neither shalt thou lay
upon him usury.
Exodus 22:25
12. How to be financially
independent
How important
is financial
independency?
13. No man is excusable for being
without financial ability.
Of many a man it may be said, He is
kind, amiable, generous, a good man, a
Christian; but he is not qualified to
manage his own business. As far as the
outlay of means is concerned, he is a
mere child. He has not been brought up
by his parents to understand and to
practice the principles of self-support.
Adventist Home 93.1
14. A Praiseworthy Independence
Independence of one kind is
praiseworthy. To desire to bear your
own weight and not to eat the bread
of dependence is right. It is a noble,
generous ambition that dictates the
wish to be self-supporting.
Industrious habits and frugality are
necessary

15. Who provides you wealth?
And thou say in thine heart, My
power and the might of [mine] hand hath
gotten me this wealth.
But thou shalt remember the LORD
thy God: for [it is] he that giveth thee
power to get wealth, that he may
establish his covenant which he sware
unto thy fathers, as [it is] this day.
Deutronomy 8 v17 and 18
17. Industry & Saving
6:6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard;
consider her ways, and be wise:
6:7 Which having no guide, overseer,
or ruler,
6:8 Provideth her meat in the
summer, [and] gathereth her food in
the harvest.
Proverbs
18. Industry & Saving
6:9 How long wilt thou sleep, O
sluggard? when wilt thou arise out
of thy sleep?
6:10 [Yet] a little sleep, a little
slumber, a little folding of the
hands to sleep:
6:11 So shall thy poverty come as
one that travelleth, and thy want as
an armed man.
Proverbs
19. Conclusion
But my God shall
supply all your need
according to his
riches in glory by
Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19
