• In 2006, Mycoskie visited Argentina and met an American woman who was
part of a volunteer organization which provided shoes for children in need
• Spent several days traveling from village to village with the group
• He saw the real effects of being shoeless: the blisters, the sores, the
infections
• He was inspired and went back to the United states
