5. North Country Independent Living- approximate work hours 40-42
• Assist individuals with their daily ADLs who are mentally retarded, have TBIs, Alzheimer’s,
and stroke victims.
• Dispense Medication in accordance with New Hampshire State Law, Certification of HEM-
1201.
• My first year I worked with individuals who were born with some degree of mental
retardation. I also worked with two older gentlemen; one who had Alzheimer’s the other a
stroke. While there I kept a very structured environment, assisted with their daily living,
including helping with showers, bathroom, eating food, and medication distribution.
• Within the next few years I transitioned into other house(s) and worked with a younger
group. Clients ranged from stroke, TBI, and mental retardation.
• During my time at NCIL, I was able to work any shift, morning, afternoon, and late shift.
Due to my ability to work the late shift, I am one of a few individuals in the company that
can work an awake overnight as many individuals refuse or simply cannot work the late shift.
• Preparing monthly summaries on clients for Program Supervisor.
• Currently, preparing a weekly medication inventory for the Program Supervisor.
• At NCIL, I was always punctual and very rarely called out of work.

• Learned to make custom mouth guards within a 2 hour period. For the
next three years I was responsible, by myself for providing custom mouth
guards for 50—75 student athletes each year.
• Ran rehabilitation hours independently while also going to school and
covering practices on a daily basis. Average workday, including school
ranged from 10-16 hours. I also worked a second job at a deli during the
same time period.
