This document discusses Tyrone Lewis' evaluation of a trailer he created for the film "Welcome To The Masquerade". 3. Codes And Conventions I followed conventions by using a green brand at the start of my trailer. I also follow conventions by starting to establish my characters. The protagonist often gets the longest time on camera which I followed.

4. Codes And Conventions One of the conventions which I followed was to add text into my trailer. This text is often a question. The scene’s I used in the trailer where scene’s from the film so far. This is a convention most films do for a teaser.

9. Codes And Conventions I used the conventions to help establish the Genre, the dramatic music helped establish it is a drama film teaser. The use of the word “Love” in my question adds to the romantic feeling but as there aren’t many teaser trailers on romance films I didn’t add much romance. There are scene’s of conflict and fighting in my film which furthers the idea of there being drama in it.

12. Convergence The text I use for both my poster and my website are the same as the one I used for my trailer. The pictures I used were also consistent. There were slight changes between the website and poster but both were similar.

13. Convergence My billing boxes were also consistent between my poster and website. Despite not being on the trailer they were consistent on my other pieces connected to it. My website also has social networking links on it which is another convention which I am following. These links are un-stereotypical for trailers and posters so I saved them for the website. I also added in links to other parts of the website that people may be interested in. These links follow conventions of other websites.

15. Audience I posted my video on YouTube and other sites to try and get some online feedback as well as showing it to other people. Primarily those of the target age I'm aiming my teaser at. Reaction has generally been positive, the music choices and scene choices have been praised on numerous occasions so I chose to keep them as they are rather than experiment with other sounds. The timing has changed for some scene changes to make sure they compliment the sound well as suggested from a few people. The main criticism is that the story is very unclear from the trailer, mainly due to the lack of dialogue in it. Despite this i haven’t changed this in my trailer since it’s just a teaser.

16. Technology During my planning and research one of the pieces of technology I used most was the internet. I used YouTube to find the vast majority of the trailers I was using to plan my research on. I also used YouTube to upload my visual mood board onto there so it could be seen by others and was open to feedback.

17. Technology For my movie posters, I used IMP awards to find most of them. One of the features this site has is it’s awards, so I could look at which posters were successful.

18. Technology For my website research, I simply used google to look for the websites that I was going to use. I also decided that Vimeo would be the best website to use when uploading my trailer which I would later embed in my trailer. The quality is better than YouTube.

19. Technology I used blogger to update anything I used or did and keep a log of where I was in terms of planning etc... I also used Microsoft Excel to make a plan of what I would be shooting and when I would be shooting.

20. Technology To get in contact with some of my actors I used facebook to communicate with them and send them messages when needed. I used Sony Vegas to help me create my visual mood boards as well as experimenting with effects I may have used for my trailer.

21. Technology I used apple’s motion programme to create the texts for my film trailer which I later added into final cut pro. For making my trailer I used Final Cut Pro primarily. This was what I used to order my scene’s etc...

22. Technology What proved as one of the most difficult software to use was Adobe After Effects. I used this to create my video wall. Positioning the video clips etc... Take around half an hour to fully align with many having to be copied to complete the wall. For 20 seconds of a video wall, the file I finally rendered after 2 hours was close to 4GB’s in size.

23. Technology For my poster I used various different Photoshops. At home I used CS3, while at school I used elements. I did the same for my website. For making my website I used Macromedia Dreamweaver.

24. Technology I also had to use Vimeo to help with my website as I was embedding a code from there. Unlike YouTube, I could edit the settings of the size of my embedded video a lot easier.

25. Technology I used this site to get all of my music seeing as I was unable to use my own music. I had originally intended to use someone else’s music but since I wasn’t allowed to use copyrighted music this had to change.
