Getting Started
Summary:
While we would love to be the exclusive destination for your content, we understand that you have built
a following on your blog, website or other online presence. As such, we are presenting TopTopic as
another avenue for exposure and one where you can generate income from content you’ve already
created, in addition to that which you will in the future. Soon, perhaps, we’ll become your go-to
destination.
The purpose of this document is to provide a quick guide to help you setup your account as quickly and
efficiently as possible. Don’t worry about the number of pages, it’s mostly pictures!
Join the Community:
The first step is to join the community by creating your account. We recommend choosing a username
which is familiar to your followers, or, perhaps now is the time to finally lockdown your first name.
Sorry, @john is taken!

Create Your Topic(s):
To those familiar with Reddit – Topics are our version of subreddits. This is your community within the
community; you create, shape and moderate your Topic(s).
By default, content is displayed to members in the “My Feed” view, while non-members are given an
“All Topics” view. Content appears in My Feed one of two ways; the member follows another member
and/or they subscribe to a Topic.
We recommend that brands create a Topic which is synonymous with their brand. While you could
submit your content to other Topics – and we hope you will participate in other Topics – and rely on
members following your @username for discovery, we recommend that you also secure your own Topic
and post content related to your brand there.
Click here to go directly to the Create a Topic page.
When you create the Topic you can choose from a number of different settings, write a custom
description/posting guidelines and will have access to a suite of tools to help you moderate your Topic.
The below is an example of the description and posting guideline customizations made to the +Politics
Topic.

Post Content:
Once you create your Topic, you’re ready to begin adding content to it. We support a number of
different formats, including Text, Video, Link, Photo and several others (see image below).
Because TopTopic enables members to monetize their content (see final section: SuperTops) we
recommend not only adding new content, but also adding previously created content which you’ve
shared via your other web presence(s). If this is a large amount of content and you’re concerned about
the time it will take, we’ll be happy to assist with posting on your behalf.
Click here to go directly to the homepage where you will see the above Submit button.
Build Your Audience:
All content that you submit is displayed in the All Topics view. This is the default view for non-members
and is an optional view for members. As discussed above, the default view for members is “My Feed”,
which consists of Topics the member has subscribed to and/or members they have chosen to follow. As
such, it is important to begin engaging with other members of the community and we have a few tips on
how to do this below.

But first, invite your friends & current fans/followers.
You can find this invite module on the right hand side of your Topic page. This will send an email
containing a link to ‘Join the Community’ and will auto-subscribe these new members to your Topic.
For those individuals whose email address you do not have, you can always post a link to your Topic in
your social media channels or other web presence(s).
Please Note: During the beta period, you will need to add ‘?set-bypass-cookie’ to the end of your Topic
link in order for visitors to access the site. Once out of beta, you will be able to share your Topic(s) and
content via normal social media sharing utilities. Contact us with any questions on adding this code and
we’ll be happy to help!
As for engaging with the community, we recommend you explore other Topics:

After you find some Topics you’re interested in, participate in the comment section of posts you’d like to
discuss:
And start following other members by going to their profile via clicking their name on a post or
comment:

Once you’ve started building an audience, you’ll begin receiving notifications that others are
following, subscribing, Topping and SuperTopping your content! You can see all of this in a detailed
stats package.
Tops are our version of up-voting (no down-voting!). The more you’re receiving, the greater the
exposure your content is seeing.
SuperTops are multiple Tops which other members have applied to your content at one time. This is
how you generate income at TopTopic and is explained, at long last, in the next section.

SuperTops:
Revenue, income, earnings, whatever your preferred term, SuperTops are how it happens.
As illustrated above, we have a positive voting system (Tops) where a member can give one – and only
one – Top to a piece of content. That is, until they purchase SuperTops. These give members the ability
to cast multiple Tops at a time.
To do so, the member clicks the SuperTop icon to the left of the post like so:
They choose the number of SuperTops they wish to give and can also add optional stickers or emoticons.
You receive half the monetary value of any SuperTops received (1 SuperTop = .10 cents .05 cents to
you .05 cents for us to keep the servers humming).
Everyone is tired of seeing the same ads in the same formats. We are confident that this model will be
far more profitable than ads for brands such as yours.
A small incremental amount to your followers adds up to a sizable check which we send you - PayPal,
check or bank transfer - on a monthly basis. Did we mention inviting your friends and followers to your
Topic?

And there you have it…Simple, right?
So simple it took us 9 pages to illustrate. We certainly hope you stuck with us throughout, that you have
a better understanding of the community and that you are as excited to be a part of it as we are to have
you!
