2. Software example 1: Photoshop
I used photoshop a lot throughout the production of my magazine. This is because it is an easy to
use professional level photo manipulation program and made it easy for me to ‘perfect’ the images
for my magazine. I learnt many things about how to use the software throughout the production
process. The most helpful tool I found was the content aware fill, as it allowed me to take areas of
background I did not like and replace them with something more to my liking, whilst still having the
image look natural. I also found it useful for removing blemishes etc. on my main models face, to
provide a more ideal representation of my target audience. Overall there were few drawbacks to
this piece of software and I would use it again.
3. Software example 2: InDesign
Whilst photoshop was useful for editing my images, InDesign was the most helpful aspect in
constructing my magazine as it is what I used to actually put all the elements of my work together.
This is a very good piece of software and allowed me to organise images, text and other elements of
my magazine. InDesign is very good for organising text as it allows you to change space between
lines and remove hyphenation. One aspect I did not like in InDesign was the inability to choose
colours from a wide palette, instead only being able to choose from a limited set of colours meaning
I would have to open photoshop and place the text/image I was trying to change into that program
and change the colour there. However InDesign was overall a very helpful program when designing
my magazine.
4. Software example 3: Microsoft Word
Microsoft word is a simple program which I used to type out my interview. Although simple it is very
effective and easy to use, making it an easy way for me to plan out my article. There is not much
more to say about Microsoft word as it does it’s job very well.
