4. Who are YMAS?
• You me at six are a British rock band formed in
2004 in Weybridge, Surrey. The group shot to
success in 2008 with their debut album ‘take
off your colours’ later releases include ‘Hold
Me Down,’ ‘Sinners Never Sleep’ and their yet
to be released album ‘Cavalier Youth’
5. EP’s and rereleases
• YMAS released 2 EP’s ‘we know what it means
to be alone’ and ‘untitled’
• Tracks ‘gossip’ and ‘the rumour’ were on these
and rereleased onto later albums
• The song ‘save it for the bedroom’ was initially
released in 2007 and was longer than its later
rerelease in 2010, however this rerelease
made it onto the Colin McRae DiRT 2 game for
Xbox 360 and ps3.
6. Band members
• Josh Franceschi – Vocals
• Max Helyer – Rhythm Guitar
• Chris Miller – Lead Guitar
• Matt Barnes – Bass Guitar
• Dan Flint – Percussion
Previous member:
Joe Phillips – Percussion
Joe was kicked from the band before their first album, it was
said that Joe preferred more heavier music than what they
were producing and thus why ‘the rumour’ has Josh
Screaming at the breakdown of the song, however this
brought tension to the band and thus he was kicked.

and have collaborated with other artists also;

8. Lived A Lie
• We are doing Lived a Lie by you me at six, this song is an upbeat song, within the
music video we intend to have symbolism of various aspects, around various
topics, the main one being defying the power, especially with the lyrics “we are
believers” being a huge part of the song,
• Idea: A protagonist/Hero who has been captured by an evil lord and tied up in the
darkness however the doors to freedom and success are lying in front of him, he
breaks free on the “we are believers” drop and thus goes on to defeat the villain.
• Why YMAS?
-Myself, Danny and Cameron all like similar music, that being the rock genre, our other
member Jordan however does not and prefers to stick to indie/pop music and so we
have chosen YMAS as a softer alternative.
10. analysis
• This digipak is heavily based on the single to this album ‘Loverboy’
in which the lead singer Josh is being interviewed and confronted
by the police, this is further used with the uses of fingerprints and
other ‘evidence’ in the inside cover, not only this but as additional
content to this digipak, there came 5 ‘mug shots’ of the band
members holding up their name cards, as if being photographed by
police, again further used as the main album cover, the person
holding up a name card with the album name and band name
displayed, this police/criminal symbolism is a way to show how the
band members are rebelling, or defying convention, this is further
backed up with how the new album songs are not typical of YMAS
from their previous albums and are more dark and ‘emo’ relative to
their other songs.
