2. Style sheet
Fonts are very important for a magazine, as it can determine the ultimate aesthetic of the entire
magazine. For example, the fonts used in a heavy metal music magazine will be sharper and
more dramatic compared to a gardening magazine. Fonts impact the magazine as it conveys the
vibe/feel the company wants to give to their audience. Capitalization is important as well as that
too changes a magazines atmosphere. For example, a niche magazine would use no capital
letters in the title as it the target audience it wants to draw in would find that more appealing. A
high-class magazine would use capitalization in it’s title as the they are appealing to a more
sophisticated audience, thus making the magazine have a posher look.
Possible fonts:
• Acumin Variable Concept
- This font is more of an article font. I can use variations of regular/light/thick or bold and
italic for headlines and the main article. This is a modern font – it would be seen in a
modern magazine.
• Bauhaus 93/Harlow Solid Italic
- Vintage fonts. Would be seen in a 60s/70s magazine. I would use these on the cover to
create a vintage aesthetic to the magazine. Wouldn’t be seen in a modern mag – usually
vintage music or fashion mags

Bright colour scheme for the cover as it is
more eye-catching. I am referencing my
audience research as it showed that the
cover was the main aspect that a person
would buy a magazine.
This would influence the colour of the text
and the way I edit the cover photo –
changing the colour levels to match the
scheme.
Fonts –
For this cover and colour scheme, I think
that Bauhaus 93 would be an appropriate
choice as I think that the text fits nicely
within the colour scheme and complements
the structure of the magazine as it is bold
and eye catching. This font suits this cover
structure more then the other as I found in
my experiments that this fonts worked
nicely when turned sideways.

Similar to the other cover, a bright
colour scheme for the cover would be
an appropriate choice as it will appeal
to the audience I want to sell to.
This scheme includes the colours of
the text used for the title, featured
articles alongside the edge and if any
colour levels are switched on the
photo.
Fonts-
Harlow Solid Italic would be the
appropriate choice for the title as it
works better with this structure rather
then the one before, it also fits better
with the colour scheme as due to my
experiments, I found that bolder
colours suited this text more.
7. Both colour schemes for the DPS are very similar, in the way that they are both nude colours as
it contrasts against the bright cover. It also gives a more professional, clean look to the DPS,
rather then having an article surrounded by neon colours. This could look messy or take the
focus away from the photoshoot and article.
DPS 1- This colour scheme is more pinky nude as it fitted more appropriately with the colour
scheme of the first double page spread. These would correlate together in the final production
stage. The nude colours would also draw more attention to the photos from the photoshoot,
rather then the layout.
Fonts-
A more modern font would be used for articles as it makes them easier to read for the readers,
e.g. a cursive font would be inappropriate to use as it can be difficult to read for some readers. A
font choice like Acumin Varible Concept would fit for an article as it is basic and easy for all to
read.
DPS 2 – This colour scheme is a lot more nude then the other DPS as the structure for this layout
has one big photo, taking up one whole page. It is only appropriate to use more basic colours as
it doesn’t take any attention away from the pictures, making them stand out more, especially if
the photo has a lot going in within it, rather then a basic studio shot – i.e. loations, music venue,
graffiti background etc.
Font –
A font such as Kalinga would be another appropriate choice for the article, as it is easy to read
for the audience.
