Our media products challenge some conventions of existing music media. We could not get Fall Out Boy for our music video, so we created our own band instead of focusing on star appeal. We also did not use intertextuality, challenging typical conventions. However, we followed other conventions like having actors look at the camera in the video, magazine ad, and album cover similarly to Fall Out Boy products. By linking lyrics and visuals in a narrative, we developed the storyline in an interesting way that is understandable to audiences.

- 1. Evaluation Question 1 In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
- 2. Short Film Choice When I started on my media product for A2 I wanted to create a short film after creating the opening sequence in AS because it interested me a lot. So for a real media product I looked into creating a short fan-film of the “Assassin’s Creed Franchise©”. I decided that creating this will mean I’d be using fandom and like many short films on YouTube such as “Fan-Films” in which mine is classed as one too, I wanted to challenge the real media product though by twisting the story into the present day because the thing with fandom is the fact that fans twist the storyline of the narrative into one of their own.
- 3. Costumes and Props I’ve used certain costumes and props in my product that also links into “Assassin’s Creed” such as the cosplay jackets, the ACII hidden blade (fake not real) and the ACIII American native tomahawk. The costumes are one of the main things that link into the real media product of Assassin’s Creed mainly because of the jackets being merchandise but based off a costume from one of the video games character’s Connor Kenway. I also had some ideas from the similar product I looked at, “WATCH DOGS: Retribution” this is also a real media product because it’s a part of Ubisoft’s video games. The short film of that gave me the idea of a balaclava for one of the characters because it gives a more mysterious look.
