The human being is subjected to all adversities of life which include: be born, grow,
develop, reproduce and die. Some of them can happen before or after another stage. To
be born is the beginning and death the latter and end of life. One of the most sadness
moments is when a person dies, no matter the reason; it comes to be a lack in the family
environment. Although life is sacred, some people prefer to kill themselves, in this case
patients in coma, as a result of the endurance of suffering of long-time period of
sickness. This people act as such to preserve three main things: dignity, autonomy and
pleasure which below are more detailed.
A personal dignity can be taken in account as most of time, when a person takes long-
time in coma, depending the family conditions, the esteem and honor of the patient can
be stained since the family waste much money for medicine, treatment, transport, food
and other issues without any result. Therefore, a person can feel this and such sacrifice
and to avoid to be spoken badly in his backs and leave the family bankrupt, choose
death as better alternative, but as voluntary action.
On the other hand, personal autonomy related to the way how the patient feels
internally, can influence to end personal life since other people can’t feel the same way
felt by the patient into a coma, then, consciously, can turn to this action as part of
fulfillment of mind feedbacks to the pains and sorrow.
Finally, there is reinforcement to the final decision to death – pleasure, which comes
from the connection between the last to items. Here the patient doesn’t give value to the
life since the pain and liberty govern his/her mind.
Therefore, the request of end own life is done following legal procedures: submission of
written request, witnesses and critical state of health. We must take note that end own
life a greater sin and has its consequences. Only God gives and takes our lives.
