Raja Ram Mohan Roy was
one of the founders of the
Brahmo Sabha, the precursor
of the Brahmo Samaj, a
social-religious reform
movement in the Indian
subcontinent. He was given
the title of Raja by Akbar II,
the Mughal emperor.

Lokmanya Tilak.

11. Tarabai Shinde
Tarabai Shinde was a feminist
activist who protested patriarchy and
caste in 19th century India. She is
known for her published work,
Stripurush Tulana, originally
published in Marathi in 1882. The
pamphlet is a critique of upper-caste
patriarchy, and is often considered
the first modern Indian feminist text.
12. Tarabai Shinde
Tarabai Shinde was a social
reformer and women's condition in
which she blamed men for the
pathetic conditions of women. She
said that man conspired against
women to maintain his dominance.
Some reformers criticized her view.
Amongst them were Phule's
colleagues.
