My research topic is “the generational differences in views about the degree of rigging in local and national elections of Bangladesh.” Here the topic actually shows what the people of Bangladesh think about the voting system and also about the election process is fair or not. Vote rigging is common to all the people of Bangladesh. When it’s time for election there were vote rigging, collusion between political parties and violence happened. Two generations has their own different views about the matter. In my study I found the difference. Where my assumption was younger generations are more attached with technology on the other hand older generations are more experience about the matter. This study totally match with my hypothesis.

Subject: Proposal to do a research paper/project on the generational differences in views about
the degree of rigging in local and national elections of Bangladesh.
INTRODUCTION
The voting behavior/system of Bangladesh is one of the major issues in the country. The system
of voting and also the degree of rigging in local and national elections in Bangladesh has been a
controversial issue for many decades, when the people of Independent Bangladesh first
understood the election process and the voting system. In every recent local and national
elections the people of Bangladesh views a lots of issues like rigging, violence between the two
major political parties which change the observation of elections system.
Since 1973’s first election of Bangladesh there have countless violence, vote rigging happens in
local and national election. From the view of ruling party the election is always fair on the other
hand from the view of opposition party there is always argument of vote rigging and violence
which make a question about fair election in local and national election of Bangladesh. I want to
find out how far people of Bangladesh think and concerned about the election of Bangladesh. I
would think different factors would cause variations in their views, and of these age would be
most significant.
RESEARCH QUESTIONS
In my research I plan to investigate differences between the generations view about the degree of
rigging in local and national elections of Bangladesh, as well as the current state of research on
the degree of rigging in elections in all other countries. To that end I will be addressing the
following research questions.
What is meant by vote rigging?
What is the rate of rigging in elections of all the countries?
2. What are the methods used?
What is the rate of rigging in election of Bangladesh?
What are the conditions of rigging in elections from 1973-2016?
What are the evidences of the degree of rigging in elections of Bangladesh?
How familiar are Bangladeshis with the idea of rigging in elections?
How far they think about the local and national elections of Bangladesh are rigged?
What are the possible reasons for their views?
Is there a difference between the views of the older and younger generations?
If there is difference, how wide is the gap, and why?
HYPOTHESIS
The idea of the degree of rigging in elections is undoubtedly observe in the recent elections in
local and also in national elections. As well as media play a major role throw news talk shows
the degree of rigging is occur in high percentages. The latest stats show that the degree of rigging
in elections is in a high rate. Experts also agree that the rate is alarming for a fair elections.
The major result I expect from my primary research is a high degree of support about the degree
of rigging in elections of Bangladesh, but a marked a difference between the generations. With
the younger generation being more willing to support about the idea. The overall doubts about
the degree of rigging as well as the generational differences would be due probably to their
political ideology, awareness of the lack of evidence, unfamiliarity with the concept, and
possibly other reasons.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
For my primary research, I plan to conduct a survey of a representative sampling of at least 30
members of educated general public in Dhaka, divided into two approximately equal groups
based on age: one aged below 24 years and the other above 45. I will design a questionnaire with
different types of questions so as to get a range of useful data which will help me to answer my
research questions and test my hypothesis.
3. For my secondary research I plan to use the resources of the Library and the web-books and
articles, standard references sources and databases, government documents, media and academic
web-sites. This would include the following resources:
1. Syed Zain Al-Mahmood, Bangladesh Local Elections Marred by Vote-Rigging

ORGANIZATION
My paper will be divide in several sections, the most important of which are the Introduction,
Background, Data Presentation and Analysis, and Summary of findings. Within these section my
organization will be based on my research questions and hypothesis.
TIMETABLE
I plan to complete my primary research by the end of June, and my secondary research by mid-
July. I shall complete writing the final draft of my Research Paper by the end of July, and submit
it by the specific deadline towards the end of this semester.
REQUEST FOR APPROVAL
I hereby request your approval for my research proposal. If you wish me to modify for improve
my proposal, I will resubmit it after incorporating the necessary changes. I would also be grateful
for your advice and help in conducting my research and completing the project.
