Reference for Jessica Townsend
The AMPED Project is a 3 year research study and teacher professional learning
program involving over 1,400 high school students and over 100 Health/Physical
Education teachers. The project investigated the physical activity rates of adolescent
students both in timetabled PE lessons and also in students’ leisuretime, as well as
studying various other aspects of student motivation, performance and wellbeing.
The project studied the effect of incorporating motivational theories into PE lessons,
after an extensive teacher development program.
As the project manager for the AMPED Project, I was responsible for recruiting and
managing the work roster for Jessica.
Jessica was a Research Assistant, whose duties included video recording PE lessons,
distributing physical activity monitors to students, managing and communicating with
those students, recording a significant amount of data in Standard Operating
Procedure booklets at every lesson, liaising with H/PE teachers, preparing research
equipment in our Research Lab at ACU and various other duties as required at
various times.
In the various roles that Jessica performed, she was required to work as a team
member and to blend in with and assist people who were operating under pressure.
She is friendly, co-operative and communicates well with people. When she was
working at the schools, she was required to operate independently and to take
initiative, which she did successfully.
Jessica was reliable, responsible and punctual. She fulfilled all of her duties
satisfactorily and was competent in all aspects. She is a positive and committed
person who should prove to be a valuable asset in her chosen field.
