Dyscalculia
 What is it?
 This is a math related learning disability that makes math tasks difficult for
students. Children may have a harder time understanding quantities vs concepts or
have a hard time grasping number senses(4=four).The mechanics of math like
recalling math facts may also be a challenge to a child. Along with that, the
working memory of being able to remember factors when doing a multiple step
problem can be difficult too.

 Symptoms
 Has difficulty recalling math facts
 Struggles to recognize patterns
 Struggles to understand math related terms
 Has a hard time grasping information from a chart or graph
 Facts
 43-65% of kids with dyscalculia also have dyslexia
 Students with dyscalculia tend to have math anxiety
 Genetic disorders such as fragile X syndrome, Gerstmann’s syndrome and Turner’s
syndrome can be associated with dyscalculia
