- What: Guild for motion picture industry directors (both film and television)
- Why: Helps the long-term careers of the members:
Guaranteed minimum compensation & benefits: healthcare, a pension plan for retirement and also negotiable
residuals from tv reruns, basic cable exhibition, home video and digital exploitation
Offers creative rights, ensuring that directors retain active participation in all aspects of the filmmaking process

● Who are they: A union of animators coming together to improve the animation industry.
● Why join: fight for animator rights by uniting to speak up against mistreatment
● History: named after Art Babbitt, Disney’s highest paid animator in 1940 who stood up
for underpaid animators that worked for Disney.
● What can they do: find out what’s wrong with the industry and negotiate for better
conditions, adjust wages and minimums, and provide health benefits.

A Guild or a Union in general, protects its members from unfair business practices. Being a
member also means you are part of a bigger organization which can help you exercise your right.

● Membership Requirements: Working in the industry for at least 5 years within the last 10
years or be approved by 2 active members.
