4. Checklist for your speech
I have included 3 or more persuasive (FEARRR) techniques in my speech
I have included whether I am FOR or AGAINST guns
I have used phrases like ‘I believe in’, ‘I want to’, I agree with’, etc.
I have used short sentences
I have accurate spelling, punctuation and grammar
I have used paragraphing effectively
I have included imaginative, complex vocabulary
I have used a range of punctuation (e.g. ?, !, :)
6. READ YOUR SPEECH
Read your speech to your partner so that you can check your speech for
any mistakes
Look at the checklist on your table
Vote one person on your table to read their speech aloud to the whole
class. They will receive a +1 point and a snack!
7. During the speeches…
On your post-it note, write down a phrase or sentence that you think
works really well in your peer’s speech
This is testing to see whether you are listening, but also whether you can
identify what makes a speech persuasive.
