4. Checklist for your speech
 I have included 3 or more persuasive (FEARRR) techniques in my speech
 I have included whether I am FOR or AGAINST guns
 I have used phrases like ‘I believe in’, ‘I want to’, I agree with’, etc.
 I have used short sentences
 I have accurate spelling, punctuation and grammar
 I have used paragraphing effectively
 I have included imaginative, complex vocabulary
 I have used a range of punctuation (e.g. ?, !, :)

5. FINISH YOUR SPEECHES
 20 MINUTES TO FINISH YOUR SPEECHES

6. READ YOUR SPEECH
 Read your speech to your partner so that you can check your speech for
any mistakes
 Look at the checklist on your table
 Vote one person on your table to read their speech aloud to the whole
class. They will receive a +1 point and a snack!

7. During the speeches…
 On your post-it note, write down a phrase or sentence that you think
works really well in your peer’s speech
 This is testing to see whether you are listening, but also whether you can
identify what makes a speech persuasive.
