2016 New Hampshire Teacher of the Year Selection Committee
New Hampshire Department of Education

Dear 2016 Teacher of the Year Selection Committee:
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of support on behalf of the Unity School Board and
myself for the nomination of Ms. Jennifer Thompson for NH Teacher of the Year.
Jennifer, who teaches English Language Arts and social studies at the Unity Elementary School, is
an exceptionally skilled and dedicated professional. In fact, when reviewing the criteria of the NH
Teacher of the Year Program, it is very apparent the program is designed to recognize and support
teachers of Jennifer Thompson’s caliber.
The Unity Elementary School Principal, Unity School Board, and I enthusiastically agreed to
nominate Jennifer due to her tireless and selfless dedication to the Unity K-8 children and school
community. In reflection, Jennifer’s commitment to students and school is very apparent by her
involvement with the farm to school program, appearances on NH Public Radio, facilitating the
Kiwanis Builders Club, community service activities with Unity Elementary School middle school
students, participating on committees involving curriculum and instruction, as well as the annual
Unity Elementary School Eighth Grade Capstone Program.
Great teachers serve as role models for both children and adults. By being selected as the 2016 NH
Teacher of the Year, Jennifer will represent the teaching profession in an exceptional manner
through her professional appearance, ability to interact with a cross section of students and adults,
as well as her articulate manner when speaking.
In closing, I am very proud to nominate Jennifer Thompson for the 2016 NH Teacher of the Year
recognition. Her selection will not only serve to enhance the status and growing respect of the NH
teaching profession, but also add to the value and respect of our nation’s deserving public school
educators.
Thank you.
Yours truly,
Middleton K. McGoodwin, Ed. D.
