2. Introduction
• Fountainhead Montessori Danville joins Contra Costa
Valley campuses in Pleasant Hill, Orinda, and Livermore
as a resource for quality Montessori education.
Individuals can learn more about Fountainhead
Montessori Danville curriculum and enrollment at
www.fms.org.
The Montessori approach to learning differs from
traditional schooling in a number of ways. The
relationship between a student’s guardian and teacher,
for example, is much more important in a Montessori
classroom than at other schools. The guardians of both
new and returning students are expected to meet with
instructors prior to the start of each school year.
3. Montessori Teachers
• A Montessori educator desires the same happiness and
success for students as the guardians, and this initial meeting
represents an important opportunity for adults to get on the
same page.
During a meeting, an instructor will suggest a classroom to
guardians based on a child’s age. Many Montessori classes
implement a mixed-age approach, and so a meeting can
discuss whether a select child might benefit more from being
in the younger or older group in a class. A meeting should also
involve a conversation regarding the instructor’s teaching
methods and classroom management tactics. After a child’s
needs have been assessed and a fitting classroom has been
chosen, parents can proceed to the registration and
enrollment phases.
