Vector Technical, Inc (2016)
Recruitment Specialist
• I recruited individuals for skilled manufacturing positions available at multiple
companies in Northeast Ohio. I received resumes from those interested in specific
positions as well as cold called those candidates I found online through sites such
as CareerBuilder and Ohio Means Jobs.
• Based on those resumes I would bring qualified candidates in to fill out our
application, do an initial interview, and complete skills testing.
• I would then submit candidates for those positions they are most suited for. When
submitting candidates I included small summaries of their skills and experiences
for the companies to go along with their applications and resumes.
• If a candidate was chosen to interview with a client I would send a preparation
email to make sure they knew where they were going, what they needed to bring,
and who they were meeting with.
• I entered each candidates basic information and resume into PCRecruiter (PCR)
along with notes to document where in the recruiting process we were.
• Once a candidate was placed at a company I would bring them back in to our
offices and hand them over to our office administrator to complete a drug test and
new hire paperwork.
• I also checked driver’s licenses to make sure they were valid and ran criminal
background checks.
Half Price Books (2012-2016)
Shift Leader (2014 –2016) promoted from Bookseller
• I was responsible for daily scheduling to make sure each area of the store was
staffed appropriately. I also scheduled lunches for each staff member while
maintaining appropriate staff levels on the floor.
• When opening the store I did the bookkeeping from the day before to make sure
all cash and checks were accounted for. I would balance each till drawer and then
process the daily deposit. I would enter all of the appropriate information into the
Point of Sale (POS) system and perform a reconciliation. If everything reconciled
correctly I would then set up each cash register for the start of the day. If the
reconciliation was off I would troubleshoot to find where the error was originating
from and correct it.
• Collaborated with the rest of the management team to set and then reach daily,
monthly, and yearly goals. The five of us oversaw 16 employees.
• Multi-tasked efficiently and professionally in a fast paced environment and
problem solved on a regular basis.
2. • I was responsible for all book donations we made to local organizations. This
involved communicating and coordinating with these organizations on what types
of books they needed, how many of them, and what date they required them by.
• I trained booksellers in all aspects of the job.
• As a shift leader I was still responsible for fulfilling all duties of a bookseller.
Bookseller (2012 – 2014)
• Bought in used merchandise in the form of books, DVDs, CDs, Audio books,
Magazines, Board Games, Video Games, LPs, and Nostalgia and Collectable
items,.
• Priced used merchandise that was bought in according to prior selling history and
knowledge of selling trends.
• I maintained the religion and metaphysics sections of the store by: filling the
shelves with used and new merchandise; keeping the section organized; and
keeping up general alphabetization of the shelves. I was also responsible for
marking down prices on books and for sending books to clearance to make room
for more merchandise on the shelves.
• I also priced Nostalgia and Collectable items and maintained the Collectables
section.
• I packaged and shipped merchandise ordered by online customers.
• As a cashier I sold used and new merchandise. While stationed at the register I
would also run out DVDs and CDs to their appropriate shelves. While doing so I
would markdown older merchandise, clearance items to make room for more
merchandise, and keep up on alphabetization and organization.
• While completing all of these tasks I always provided the best customer service
experiences I could. I went above and beyond to help customers find what they
were looking for which sometimes meant transferring an item from another local
Half Price Books store or ordering from out of state.
• I was also trained as the back-up for our Store Inventory Manager (SIM). I
learned to process new merchandise we received in weekly shipments and
Bestsellers we received from publishers. After scanning the shipments into our
inventory system I was responsible for separating the items out and getting them
to the correct section runners. I would also process those items that were being
transferred from our store to one of our other local stores. I would then call those
customers whose books had been transferred to us from other local stores.
