- Hello everyone! I am Angel Serrano and I am the Director of Fund Development. In this turbulent time of the COVID-19 global pandemic, my thoughts go out to all of you. First and foremost, I hope you and your family are safe and well. We recognize the cancellation or postponement of your region conferences was disappointing, but we want to make sure you can still access these resources. Today I am going to discuss how fund development unites all of us to work together towards one goal – help more women and girls live their dreams through our global Dream Programs.
- Before diving in, I would like to give you an overview of the topics we will be discussing today. First, I’d like to review our global impact and then share an inspirational club story. And then we will discuss how your contributions fund our global programs and how you can invest in helping more women and girls in our community, and around the world – especially during this challenging time.
- Together we helped more than 1,650 women through the Live Your Dream Awards and more than 20,000 girls through Dream It, Be It last year Our global impact is made possible through support from our clubs and members. And each year we are able to help more women and girls live their dreams, because of YOU. Not only does your support help women and girls directly – it also has a broader impact on the community. Alyssa (pictured, left), was able to earn her degree and is now a full-time Registered Nurse because of the support the Live Your Dream Award provided. Next, I’d like to share with you SI/Mission Valley’s efforts to support their club initiatives and invest in women and girls around the world.
- SI/Mission Valley newly chartered and wanted to create a fundraiser that would generate enough income to support the club's initiatives throughout the year. This was their first year producing a Dream It, Be It program, and second year granting Live Your Dream Awards. In addition to program goals they also focused on increasing the community's awareness about Soroptimist. SI/Mission Valley contributed 10% of locally raised funds through Club Giving to support our global Dream Programs – and to help newly chartered clubs begin their own journey with Dream It, Be It and the Live Your Dream Awards. Club Giving and individual contributions help make our global Dream programs possible. But how?
- Contributions help SIAHQ provide program resources and support to clubs, as well as, provide: Live Your Dream Awards (region & federation level) ($3,000-10,000 per award) Dream It, Be It programs and local club projects provided through Soroptimist Club Grants (up to $5,000 per project) $1,000 gift to newly chartered clubs for a local Live Your Dream Award However, contributions do not fully cover our global Dream Programs. For this reason, we appeal to our members and clubs to invest in our Dream Programs through our various giving programs - Club Giving, individual gifts, including monthly giving, which is recognized in the Laurel Society; and future or planned gifts, recognized in the Laurel Legacy.
- The challenges our world is facing are unprecedented as COVID-19 wreaks havoc on life as we know it. And women and girls continue to need our help - now more than ever. Are you a Soroptimist Stargazer? By enrolling at $50 or more per month, you will receive our beautiful promotional pin! By enrolling at $20 or more per month, you will receive our Soroptimist tote! I hope you’ll consider becoming a Soroptimist Stargazer, or make a one-time contribution, if you are in a financial situation to do so. A gift of any size will ensure our ability to continue our mission and provide vital support during this time of crisis. With your help, we can build a world in which all women and girls have the chance to live life on their own terms and reach for their dreams.
