1. Casino Royale
Following on from the James Bond film Die another Day, Casino
Royale has not changed the style of the classic opening sequence
showing Bond standing in the sight of a gun shooting what is an
enemy before they shoot him. Blood then pours down the phasing
the video to show spinning suits of all the playing cards with Daniel
Craig written in the middle (actor of the main character James Bond).
This has been done to emphasize the theme of “Casino” Royale, and
to also remind the audience that Daniel Craig is the main actor in the
film. We next see Daniel Craig Sitting on a patterned branch of aces
holding the pistol; he then picks one of the aces and loads his gun
with it which he then shoots in synchronization with a king of a suit.
This seems to work very well with the whole Casino gunman style of
the film. Another title name is displayed clearly In the middle of the
screen so that the audience is able to see the name, Every
background is patterned to look like the back of a playing card that
Bond later uses in the film. The next main character is shown again in
the middle of the screen surrounded by cards. This has again been
done to highlight how the name is the actor of one of the main
characters in the film by it being shown independently. The
sequence then turns to two animated characters fighting, one with a
knife. The character with the knife is taken down and stabbed. Red
cards then replace his body (acting as blood). A close up of bond
punching a yellow character is shown, the face of the yellow
character temporarily turns into many yellow playing cards, which
maintains the theme of Casino Royale. Spinning gun targets are then
shown spinning on the screen, these targets quickly transform into
roulette wheels from a casino. Various bleeding men are presented
with each suit of playing cards sticking out of their body, the suits
portrayed as weapons to highlight how bond uses the casino to aid
his fight against enemies. The opening sequence includes graphics
rather than any real shooting apart from the end of the
2. sequencewhere Daniel Craig walks to the camera, finishing the
opening sequence on a close up of his face. Although the titles are
shown very clearly in this sequence, because of the detail in the
background such as the figures fighting, it is difficult to notice the
names when you are focusing on other aspects.
