2. Possible Locations
! For our media production our group researched and investigated
various locations and buildings to possibly use within our final
music video.
! We felt that this ‘scouting’ stage was important as it enabled our
project to take shape around a set and for our production ideas
to develop using the resources at the location we decide.
! We weighed up the pro’s and con’s for our specific locations
allowing for our group to make a appropriate decision of where
we would like to base our project.
3. Location 1 – Severalls Assylum,
Colchester
! Severalls Assylum is 150 acre
plot which opened in 1913
as a hospital for those with
mental health problems. The
hospital is a fine example of
the architectural echelon
design which features long
corridors which were
designed to interconnect
within the entire site.
4. Using Google maps we worked out that it would take us
2 hours on a round trip to get there and back.
5. Pro’s and Con’s
! Pro's
• Long corridors for shots of actor walking down.
• Abandoned, over grown areas.
• Great micro detail for close ups.
! Con's
• Hard to find who is in charge and gaining acess to legally film there.
• Far away for a journey with all equipment.
• Health and Safety nightmare.
7. Location 2 – Rougham Hall,
Rougham
! Rougham Hall is a large
Manor house which was
owned by the Agnew family
which during WWII a large
2000lb bomb landed near and
destroyed its foundations. The
house has laid derelict since.
Nature has now quickly taken
over and a mass of greenery
encapsulates its interior. We
really like the contrast built in
this location between nature
and destruction.
8. To get to Rougham Hall it is only a maximum of
40 minutes to get in a car from my residence.
9. Pro’s and Con’s
! Pro's
• Easier to get to.
• Lots of greenery on the interior of the building.
• Possible connection and in to have legal use of the site
• vast amounts of natural light
! Con's
• Smaller plot than Severals
• Lack of different style rooms
• Does not fit as well into the story
11. Location 2 – Stafford Park
Estates, Long Melford
! Stafford Park Estates is a
collection of used/derelict
warehouse and office
buildings, varying in age from
Victorian to more
contemporary styles. They are
in a variety of different
conditions from overgrown
nature to almost useable.
12. This location is very local and easy to get to being just over
half an hour away. we also have a close connection to the
owner of the site and will be able to easily organise a legal
use of the site.
13. Pro’s and Con’s
! Pro’s
• Close to equipment storage
• Easy access with vehicles
• Legal use of site , almost guaranteed.
• Fits well with the derelict office look aiming to achieve
• Variety of different style buildings
! Con's
• Have not seen building personally – only images
