1. Hot Chamber Die Casting machines
English Version
Hot Chamber Die Casting machines.
The Hot Chamber Die Casting machines are used for alloys which have low melting
temperatures, such as zinc, tin or lead alloys. The required temperatures to melt other
alloys (aluminium for example) require a high melting temperature that would damage
the pump for being in direct contact with the molten metal. The molten metal is inside
the furnace which is attached to the holding furnace.
The pressure tank is inside the furnace
with the pressure chamber. During the
injection process the molten metal goes
inside the pressure chamber and by the
injection piston runs until the mould
passing previously through the nozzle.
Before the injection of the molten metal,
the clamping unit of the machine joins the
two parts of the mould through the lock
cylinder and clamps. The locking cylinder
is responsible for moving the moving
plate (where is located the mobile half-
mould – Outlet side) towards the fixed
plate (where is located the fixed half-
mould – side of the through).

2. Hot Chamber Die Casting machines
English Version
The fixed half-mould is lined with swan neck channel (where the molten material slides
to the nozzle).
Once it has solidified the material inside the mould cavity, the clamping unit liberates
the mobile half-mould and activates the ejection system in order to dislodge the
part/piece, and then the process can restart again.
The injection pressures in the hot chamber machines ranging from 100 to 300 kp/cm2.
These pressures make possible a decrease in reaction force of the mould with respect to
cold chamber machines, which pressures are bigger. This decrease also contributes to
reduce burr formation and increases the life of the mould. On the other hand, prevents
the inclusion of lubricants in the piece, due to the elimination of the necessity to
lubricate the piston, necessity that exists in the cold chamber machines.
The injection sequence is considerably faster for hot chamber machines than cold
chamber machines and allows having better conditions in the automation of the process.
