Drill down to the most concrete action you can ask of your audience

Hashtags are how we communicate in social media. Creating unique hashtags is a big part of activism, but remember that the most successful hashtags are a value and/or an action. Hashtags help us reframe and shift harmful narratives to uplift progressive movements.
How hashtags foster movements. For social justice leaders, hashtags help shape, build, and grow movements! #BlackLivesMatter is a perfect example, plus this hashtag is a value and it’s an action (demand). Hashtags are a great way to be in conversation about a particular issue, so pay attention to the trending topics on platforms. And they’re key in telling your digital story and reimagining the world we want to see.
