2. This is a blog based around the creation of symbal magazine, an
alternative indie rock magazine that covers a wide variety of
subgenres in unique and exciting ways. Throughout this blog, you will
see a substantial amount of research and planning undertaken prior
to the construction of the magazine that analyse the genre, the
fashion, the audience, and other magazines themselves. Evidently, at
the end of the blog, you will be able to see the final product of symbal
magazine, based around the research and planning preceding it. here’s
why i chose the genre...

3. In short, because it is potentially my favourite genre of
music, and I believe it is important to be well
familiarised with the genre the magazine will be based
around – it can give a distinct advantage in terms of using
conventions and artists. However, the reason why SYMBAL
does not just cover indie rock but its various subgenres
and alterations as well is because it would allow me to
create something unique. I have an interest in a huge
variety of genres, and therefore it seemed too simplistic
and conventional to address just one – why not
alternative rock, indie soul, dark wave, electronic rock?
It will broaden the target audience as well as suiting my
interests and needs.
