2. Live forever Oasis.
• Live forever by oasis is a typical alternate rock video, the video starts with a black and white image of a pickaxe striking the ground,
connotations of the black and white and pathotic imigary connotes the idea of gloom or more of a slow song, firstly the song does seem
gloomy and the lyrics are syncronous with the video. But gradually as the song continues colour starts to become an element in the
video and the gloomy black and white feature soon disappears. Ands the colour is syncronous to the song, as the mood is lifted
towards the chorus. Personally I believe its important to understand a connection between the lyrics and the visuals on screen.
3. • Liam Gallagher is the main focus of the video, the focal point, the video is typical to the genre as there is a
lot of performance, really its performance based as a video. Video is iconic in terms of britpop and
Alternate rock genre videos
• This would mean when creating my music video I would have to include a lot of performance within.
• The performance based aspect is typical, pop videos usually have little to no band performance but most
alternate bands will have performance elements within.
• The camera work in this video is relatively standard for a music
• video, consisting of many mid shots of the band members and close
• ups for the lip syncing that is evident throughout the video. This use
• of close ups of the band playing their instruments is something we
• need to pay close attention to as we will be aiming to include many
• close ups of the band playing as will be using lip syncing.
4. • The mise en scene is another thing that is relatively inconsequential
• to the actual song. It is set in a garden and what appears to be a run
• down estate, both these things do not really have anything to do with
• the lyrics of the song.
• The editing of this video is the key thing that we can take to use for
• own video. The main thing we can look to take is the changing of
• colours throughout the video, we have planned to use this particular
• editing tool and have completed a workshop on this. The changing of
• colours is a good way to keep the audience focused on the video by
• making it brighter and with the song being upbeat it links in with
• song itself.
