2. Paris the capital of France, this city is situated at the
northern of which country. Also is one of the most
populated metropolitan city of Europe, having a
population estimated around 12,089,098. It’s very
famous for the monuments which there are in the
city, like: Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe or The
Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris.
In the other hand it has got the Seine River, that cross
the city. Over the river there are a lot of famous bridges
that were build to link the differents parts of the city.
The city has 20 districts, that are numbered from 1 to 20
from the centre of the city. Having the Kilometre Zero at
the front of Notre Dame.
3. • Eiffel Tower: it is localicated at “Champ de Mars”.
Built in 1889 for the World’s Fair. It’s considaretad a
cultural icon of France.
• Arc de Triomphe: It stands in the centre of the
Place “Charles de Gaulle”, at the western end of the
“Champs Élysées”.
• The Basilica of the Sacré-Cœur Basilica: the
basilica is located at the “Montmartre”, the highest
point in the city.
• Palace of Versailles: it is located at 20 kilometres
southwest of the French capital. The Court of
“Versailles” was the centre of political power in
France from 1682, until the royal family was forced
to return to the capital in October 1789. At the
beggining of the French Revolution.
• Notre Dame de Paris: Is Roman Catholic
cathedral. Is considerated one of the finest Gothic
French architecture of France.
4. • Latin Quarter: situated at the centre of the city, at the
fifth and sixth district. At this quarter we can found The
“Collège de Sorbonne”, one of most important University
at France. Also there’s a lot of places where have been
success historical events.
• Le Marais: in the past, this quarter was a marshland
(translated to French: “marais”) but this changed when
Henry IV built the Royal Palace, nowadays called Places
des Vosgues. After the built of the Royal Palace the
nobility chose this place for them residence. In this
days, this place became a Gay Community.
• Champs-Élysées: at this place we can find one of the
most famous boulevards: The “Avenue des Champs-
Élysées”. Also it’s considerated the most expensive
quarters of Paris, where are the most luxurious shops
like: Louis Vuitton, Channel, Cartier... As well there are
the “Arc of Triomphe” and the “Élysée Palace” (official
residence of the premier of France).
• Montmartre: located at the hill with a height of 130
metres. There are situated the “Sacré-Cœur” Basilica
which is the highest point of the city. Other place to see
it’s the “Moulin Rouge” a famous cabaret. At the mid of
the XIX century this quarter was the place where a lot of
bohemian artist lived.
• Montparnasse: at the beginning of the last
century, when the artist left the Montmartre quarter, they
chose their residences at the left side of the “Seine”;
some of them were famous like the writer Ernest
Hemingway. There are located the “Montparnasse
Cemetery”.
5. Over the river there are 39 brigds, that were built for
met the different parts of the city. Some of them are very
beautiful like the Point Neuf, or have some peculiarities
like the Point des arts where the couple that are in
love, left a padlock and the they throw the key to the
river.
