Chapter 1.4 of my sims 2 DITFT story.

Living
Generation One – Chapter Four
“Aging and Ambition”

2. Dahlia: “Ick, people actually drink this stuff?”
You got a free skill point, it can’t be that bad.
Dahlia: “Yeah, I’d rather earn my skills the hard way than drink this gunk again.”
She’s got somewhat of a point, I’m no fan of eggplants myself. It’s just such an easy
way to fix hunger.

3. Leod: “Ahh, I had such a refreshing good night’s sleep. Wait, why’s it still
dark outside?”
Welcome to elderhood, Leod, where sleeping through the night is but a
far-off dream.

4. Leod: “Well I was going to admire my portrait, but this darn
bed’s in my way!”
Please, don’t go senile on me already. You’re only like, 56.

5. Here’s an updated picture of our garden, this time you can
actually see the fruits of Iris’ labor.

6. So I’ve obtained the mandatory objectives of this generation, now
I’m shooting for the maximum nature enthusiasm goal, as there’s no
way we’ll catch every type of fish with Iris having zero fishing
badges. So bug hunting we go.

7. And I guess Iris stumbled onto a beehive while crawling for bugs.
Iris: “Oh leave me alone, I didn’t do anything to you! I just wanted
that Dapper Pinstripe Beetle, how was I supposed to know your
house would be right below it?”

8. My plan to have Melvin romance Solveig isn’t going to work. In
addition to not being blonde and not being stinky enough,
they’ve got godawful chemistry.

9. Solveig: “I’ll match your black hearts with my pink ones. You’re such a
stud.”
Okay, apparently she’s totally oblivious to Melvin’s repulsion.
Melvin: “Good seeing you Solveig, uh I think I’ll get to skilling. Those
scholarships won’t earn themselves.”

10. What does she do after Melvin brushes her off? Bother his father, of course.
Solveig: “…he didn’t want to play kicky bag with me.”
Leod: “Sorry miss, I just don’t think we’re at that relationship level to be playing that.
I would have liked to chat with you at least once or twice.”

11. Dahlia meanwhile was getting on with yet another after-school friend,
Jacob Martin, one of the town playables.
Dahlia: “So we finally got a computer to play SSX3, which is a relief
because I was getting sick of tub pirating.”
Jacob: “You like video games? Small world, I work as a Trash Talker.”

12. Dahlia: “So your job is playing games all day? Cool.”
Jacob: “Yeah I like it but to be honest, I want to go out and see the world
some day, a world outside the computer.”
Dahlia: “Oh I feel the exact same way.”

13. Can you tell yet that these two have double bolts? Jacob may want to
see the world eventually, but now he’s content with wanting smaller
things in life, like electronic entertainment. Don’t mind Leod
casually staring, he’s just making sure Jacob doesn’t try anything
funny.

14. Dahlia: “Jacob, I have something to tell you.”
Jacob: “One sec, I wanna see if I can avoiding waking the llama.”

15. But the flirting didn’t go according to plan for Dahlia.
Dahlia: “I don’t get it, we were having such a good time…did my brother
say something to you?”
Jacob: “No it’s not that, it’s just way too sudden. We just met today for
crying out loud!”

16. Dahlia: “Oh I perfectly understand, how about a NOOGIE!”

17. Jacob: “Okay I get it, you’re mad. You didn’t have to hit so hard.”
Dahlia: “Oh I’m not mad, I was just playing Punch-U-Punch-Me and I
was giving it all I’ve got. I’m just that type of person.”
Jacob: “Right, I think it’s time I go. Let you get your anger issues under
control.”

18. Blissfully unaware of her daughter’s romantic troubles, Iris reached
level 8 in nature enthusiasm, I think we can get to 10 no sweat.

19. Whatcha drawing there, Melvin?
Melvin: “A portrait of my sister. Pretty accurate isn’t it?”
Sure, just don’t let Dahlia hear you say so.

20. Dahlia gained five best friends. Honestly, I think popularity sims are the
easiest to play, as they’ve got a lot of easy to fulfill, high-scoring wants.

21. Yet another glimpse of our garden, most of the plants are
thriving. But I had to buy an extra ladybug house, every time I
buy one, the pollen moves to another plant.

22. Rest assured, Leod doesn’t ALWAYS get bad chance cards. The $100 is
nice though but we aren’t on the brink of bankruptcy, so not a huge deal.

23. Yep, another one of Dahlia’s kimono-wearing friends. Does she
take lunch breaks on Twikkii Island?

24. He proceeded to throw a water balloon at poor Melvin. Come
on, he’s the nicest sim in the household, he needs some slack.

25. Dahlia: “Great to meet you Headmaster, you’ll make a great addition
to my Met Someone New list.”
It’s actually Melvin who wants to get into private school, so I’m
doing it to increase his aspiration.

26. …Iris? Why’d you pause making the fish? We need those food
points (because we sure aren’t getting any for the tour)
Iris: “I’m getting a funny, back-breaking feeling.”

27. Oh right, you’re old now. I may have forgotten about it.
Iris: “I’m glad I turned out with better everyday wear than Leod,
still I’ll have to go shopping later.”

28. The headmaster seemed to enjoy the dinner conversation, even
if it was with a bunch of strangers who jumped on the free meal.

29. Fortunately we didn’t need the tour, even though 40 points doesn’t
seem like a lot for sparkly fish. Dahlia’s sweet talking put in work!

30. This would be Leod’s coworker. Look, the kids don’t want to
talk to you so please, don’t sit there like a weirdo.

31. Somehow when I wasn’t looking, our pole bean plants and one
cucumber plant died. Unfortunate, maybe it was because I
waited too long before harvesting them?

32. To prevent more unfortunate incidents, Iris talked up the plants
to thriving status before harvesting them, since we already
obtained the gardening goal.

33. Melvin got to know Dahlia’s childhood friend Virginia, who is
apparently constantly frost-bitten judging by the color of her skin.

34. Finally, a promotion for Leod!
Leod: “Finally, none of those darn awful chance cards.”

35. Somehow Virginia managed to sneak away from Melvin to go to her job with Dahlia.
Yes, Dahlia has officially found the Business track. Unfortunately, she started at the
highest level of her job and didn’t get the Overachiever memoty, which sucks.

36. Dahlia invited Jacob Martin over for some after-school flirting, only…
Jacob: “Look, I think it’s better we just stay friends, so don’t push it.”
Dahlia: “But…we’ve got two bolts? That’s gotta count for something!”
It apparently doesn’t. Even at 100 daily relationship and two bolts, Jacob REFUSES to accept a
romantic interaction. I’ve never met a sim so adverse to any kind of romantic gesture, hell
even the negative chemistry ones can be coaxed.

37. Maybe Dahlia should take lessons from Melvin on how to flirt?

38. I wanted to give Melvin a fun way to boost his sports hobby. What do you think,
Melv?
Melvin: “It’s nice. How much did it cost, by the way?”
Uh…it may have taken up three-quarter’s of the family coffers.
Melvin: “What? That’s not very frugal of you.”
The things I do for my sims.

39. Like many elders before her, Iris has taken to long hours of fishing.
Iris: “There, I got my bronze badge now. Can I take a break now?”
Nope, need more nature enthusiasm!

40. Speaking of boosting the nature hobby, hiking is a good way to do it
since Iris frequently rolls the want. You mean to tell me you found a
sculpture in the middle of the woods?
Iris: “Nature never ceases to amaze, doesn’t it?”

41. Oh Leod, not again!

42. Leod: “I’m so sorry hon, I hate feeling like such a disappointment.:
Iris: “Oh don’t say that, you’re the only reason we have a roof over our heads!”
Leod: *sniff* “Thank you for trying to make feel better. Whatcha looking at?”
Iris: “Nothing, just our empty garden…sigh.”

43. Dahlia: “Are my parents sleeping in the same bed? What are they, crazy?”
Yes, Dahlia thinks her parents cuddling is a mental instability.

44. Melvin reached the top of his teen career and I was fully expecting him to
get the Overachiever memory…except he dropped to an A so he is no
longer an A+ student. Which sucks because I had the want locked for
Leod and Iris. And don’t mind Dahlia there, just giving one of her friends
a noogie.

45. Looks like Melvin’s co-worker, Elizabeth Fuchs, has the hots for our boy.
Elizabeth: “Forgive me if I sound forward but, you looked so hot when
you grilled that hot dog today!”
Melvin: “Thanks! Funny, I think I feel two bolts coming on…”

46. This random, stinky guy (another one of Dahlia’s friends, are you
surprised?) decides to break our cheap sink. Thanks for nothing!

47. Dahlia: “This. Is. So. ANNOYING!”
Please Dahlia, I can’t leave the living room/kitchen/masterbedroom
with this plummeting environment score. How hard can it be to fix a
sink?

48. Several hours later…
Leod: “DAHLIAA WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SINK?”
She banged on it with a hammer for a couple of minutes and gave up, I
guess.

49. Meanwhile Melvin took the plunge with his coworker, Elizabeth
Fuchs. How annoyed is Dahlia going to be when she finds out
her little brother got his first kiss before she did?

50. Iris: “Oh hello there Solveig, how are you? No, Melvin hasn’t
asked about you. But I’m very curious about your wellbeing.
After all, we’re nearly best friends.”

51. Whatcha’ doing Dahlia?
Dahlia: “Fulfilling my Sneak Out want.”
Isn’t that a little risky with your father right over there?
Dahlia: “Please, he’s too busy trying to beat Melvin in Punch-U-Punch-Me.”

52. But then Leod’s parenting senses kicked in!
Leod: “Young lady, I can’t help but notice you moving around in a sneaking manner.”
Sorry for the text getting cut off, he is saying “Behavior like this is NOT allowed,
Dahlia!”

53. Dahlia: “Oh Daddy, I wasn’t about to sneak off. I was just trying out this
formal wear I don’t ever get to put on. I swear!”
Leod: “That excuse isn’t going to cut it kiddo. Your mother and I are no
spring chickens, you should know better we’ll be awake at one in the
morning!

54. Leod: “Now get yourself to bed! How could you violate my trust like
this?”
It’s devastating, I know. She’ll just have to be more careful when we try
again the next night.

55. Iris! You did it!
Iris: “I can finally stop bird watching 10 times a night?”
Yes, but you’ll probably inevitably roll a daily want for it. Now
accept the plaque from the lady creepily staring at you.

56. Two hobby plaques to commemorate our work thus far. Leod
got one for gaming too but that one was less relevant for our
goals.

57. As I was maxing out Iris’ nature hobby, she managed to bring
this apple tree to thriving condition before winter fell. It’s so
nice to not have trees that constantly look crappy.

58. Melvin and Elizabeth became close fairly quickly, even though she
didn’t completely match his turn-ons. Melvin decided to dress up for
their date, but looks like Elizabeth was so excited she didn’t change
out of her work clothes.

59. =
Not that Melvin minded.

60. The night of Dahlia’s adult birthday has arrived, so what better way
to celebrate than by inviting everyone over for a game of Don’t
Wake the Llama? Looks like Dahlia added another best friend to her
list, but judging by her expression it’s just “business as usual.”

61. Dahlia: “Cool, everyone’s got their eye on me. Please, don’t let
me grow up in an ugly grow-up outfit!”

62. …okay I won’t say I laughed out loud when this happened but
come on, this is glorious.

63. Dahlia: “Dressed like Mrs Claus AND didn’t go to college. Worst party
ever!”
Quit being overdramatic, you never even rolled the want to attend
university. Anyway, that does it for the first generation. Tune in next
time for Dahlia’s saga in this challenge.
