1. BYOD/BYOT IMPLEMENTATION PLAN FOR 4TH GRADE
BYOD/BYOT Policy: http://www.sdhc.k12.fl.us/doc/1163
The platform that I chose for my classroom is Microsoft hardware. The reason that I chose
this is that my district uses Microsoft products and applications and I am familiar with
them. When starting a new program like BYOD, the teacher should be knowledgeable and
be able to assist in the implementation.
My principal is cutting edge and has planned for the computer age. Our district is located
in a very low income community, and most students will not be able to afford to bring their
own device. She has purchased Kindles, laptops, and supplied at least five student
computers for each room in the school. The Kindles and laptops have to be shared between
the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classrooms, but are available to be checked out.
We are not normally able to get enough for a one on one with the technology, so I then have
the students pair up or make it a station so that other students are doing something else
and then they can move into this station in groups of 5 or 6. The grouping for different
stations will change based on what we are doing, but most of the time it is based on their
reading ability. Sometimes I need to pair a stronger student with a student that struggles
with the concept that I am teaching.
