A measurement for a corporation’s success in the 1970s was solely economic success – Profit. In 1987, the United Nations established the World Commission on Environment and Development and two additional measurements of corporate success and longevity were added – People and Planet. That decision led to what is now known as the Triple Bottom Line – Sustainability = People,Planet, Profit.
PEOPLE –
SAFETY - over XXXXXXX hours without a loss time incident.
VOLUNTEERING – Pratt employees volunteer in well over 500 cities in the U.S. as well as contribute to efforts that affect the World – (Haiti, Storm Sandy, etc.)
PHILANTHROPY – as well as participating in events for special causes (Susan G. Komen Foundation, American Cancer Society, Reading programs in inner city schools, Pratt employees are donating thousands of dollars to specific causes in their local and regional areas.
PLANET–
GASIFIER – Created enough energy to supply all of the steam for our Conyers Campus and 35 – 40% of the electricity for the Conyers Mill thus reducing dependence on local natural resources.
WATER REDUCTION – (getting final data from M.Holmes)
INTERNAL RECYCLING – our internal recycling program has a goal of zero waste in all of our Pratt facilities. The ingenuity of the employees has developed into a program where we’re recycling anything from a rubber mat to an old printing plate.
FSC Certification – Forest Stewardship Council:
With Pratt’s 3 paper mills achieving certification 1 year ago, the inquiries regarding environmental certification soar.
PROFIT –
Even during the downturn in 2008 / 2009, the Pratt family has chosen to invest hundreds of millions of dollars into the future of Pratt Industries and the environmentally sound 100% recycled fiber paper and packaging. With the recent announcement of the paper mill in Valparaiso, IN and the new super corrugating facility in Lewisburg, OH, investing in the future and continued growth for Pratt Industries is certain.
