Boogie-woogie is a fast-paced dance known for its spectacular footwork and high energy. It originated from blues music played on the piano and follows a repetitive "shuffle" rhythm. The basic step pattern is step back, step-point-step, point-step in 4/4 time. Dancers can add variations like turns, slides, and bounces. To learn, practice the steps alone first then with a partner, starting with both hands held and progressing to one hand hold with the leader's left hand holding the follower's right.

2. Boogie-woogie is commonly danced to a fast pace. It is famous for its
and spectacular footwork, high energy and its freedom throughout the
dance. The footwork allows a space for improvisation and styling. In the
1950s, Boogie today could have been “rock n roll.” The music grew with the
popular entry of Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis, replacing the Old Swing
movement. It is a form of swing and a form of blues with an accompaniment
of the piano.
Boogie follows a repetitive, swung note, or shuffle rhythm, groove or
pattern used in blues which originally played on the piano in Boogie-woogie
music. The step pattern of Boogie is step(back), step-point-step, and point-
step. It follows 4/4 time signature, hence the count is 1and 2 and 3 and 4.
The steps are repeated with different variations added like turns, slides,
bounces and twists.

3. 1. Practice the basic steps alone, then after learning the steps,
get a partner.
2. Partners hold hands and execute the basic steps with a pull.
3. Execute again with one hand hold. Boys use left hand in
taking the right hand of the girls.
