• They tend to make choices based on their ideas alone and don’t listen
to there team or seek imput from others.
• This type of leadership is mainly gained through; punishment,
threats,demands,orders,rules and regulations

4. Advantages of autocratic leadership
• Quick decision making- leaders has the final say decision making can
be made and conveyed efficiently, an attribute that becomes handy
during crisis.
• Clear chain of commands- It provides clear hierarchy and chain of
commands,which can help maintain order and reduce confusion
within an organisation
• Maintaining Confidentiality: In cases where sensitive information
must be kept confidential, autocratic leaders can control the flow of
information more effectively.
• Clearly defined structure: Clear rules and procedures are in
place and every employee knows what to do and how to do it
5. Disadvantages
• Degrades trust and morale: Autocratic leadership discourages input, which can make
teams feel like their ideas are ignored and they’re unable to contribute.
• Dependent on the leader: Organizational success is entirely dependent on the leader
and their ideas, which can endanger the stability of the organization.
• Creative and innovation suppression: since employees are not encouraged to share their
ideas and insights
• Low moral and job satisfaction: autocratic leadership may create negative work
environment were employees feel demotivated and unhappy
• Limited problem solving since only leaders make the decisions missing out on the diverse
perspectives of the team members
• Resistance to change during implementation of changes or new policies since employees
have not been involved in decision making this may affect organisation s growth and
adaptability
• Communication challenges: autocratic leaders may not priorities open and effective
communication which can lead to miscommunication, misalignment and breakdown of
trust btwn leaders and employees.
