2. Recommendations for Research & Development
• Breed improvement through nationally coordinated programs for
selection, conservation and breeding using modern genetic and
reproductive biotechnology tools. Long term investment will be
required.
• Innovative Disease diagnostic tools for emerging and re-emerging
infectious and transboundary diseases with special emphasis on
point of care and DIVA tests.
• One Health national coordinated approach for the mitigation of
zoonotic diseases.
• Vaccine development pathogen specific using local isolates and
cross matched vaccines for livestock, poultry and fish and the
commercial production by multispectral collaborations.
• Innovative Nutritional interventions for efficient utilization of
existing and alternative feed resources and feed management
strategies
3. Recommendations for Policy & Reforms
• National Research Coordination: Devise mechanism for focused
multi-sectoral research coordination.
• National Breeding Policy: Harmonized policies for conservation and
improvement of pure bred local breeds of large and small
ruminants including establishment of gene bank to conserve and
propagate farm animal genetic resources.
• National Animal Health Policy: Harmonized policies for prevention
and control of TAD and zoonotic diseases/AMR clearly defining role
of federal and provincial livestock departments and Launch national
control programmes for TAD and zoonotic diseases.
• Regulatory Policy: Devise import and export policies to meet the
national requirements of feed and related ingredients and
animal/aqua cultural products.
• Launch of Business incubator for agriculture and livestock by PARC
