2. India is home to one of the largest numbers of informal workers.
According to a 2012 Ministry of Statistical and Programme
Implementation report, more than 90% of India’s workforce belongs to
the informal sector and accounts for 50% of the national
product. However, the unorganized sector does not provide workers
with social security.
Employees working in the informal sector can be
classified as wage workers, non- wage workers,or a
combination of both.
The problem arises due to
Asymmetry of information , opportunities
Increasing population
Poor skills
Declining employability
Lack of schools, poor education system
Poor infrastructure
Increasing costs of basic commodities etc.

3. Synopsis of the Solutions proposed :
1.Bring a team of voluteers from several groups of society to provide better skills in the related fields of work

5. “School on Wheels” and “Hospital on Wheels” at broad level
6.Better transportation and infrastructure system
4. Regular broadcasting to keep updated
2.Agricultural practices to be economically and environmentally sustainable
Implementation:

For eg. Cattles breeds, organic products and other useful resources

The system would help in
1. Increasing the amenities of local trade leading to the increase in income
2. Formalizing some informal jobs through regulation by the state

5. Boosting agriculture sector
Since India owns an economy which has a major proportion of agriculture in it.
The following factors would play important role in boosting India’s vast agricultural field
1.Harmful pesticides and chemical fertilizers should be banned.
2.Providing subsidies on bio-chemicas and other organic products.
3. Promoting different sections of agriculture such as forestry, dairy, fisheries ,
floriculture etc.
“School on wheels” & “Hospitals on wheels”
Each district of every state should have at least 5 buses (number of buses can vary depending on the
population and of the city) both of each facility (medical and education) covering several different areas
Of the city
There must be a headquarter governing this system.
The headqurters must have records like :-
1.Number of buses
2.Areas covered by each buses
3.The children being educated per year and the people getting medical treatment
4.Staff
5.Accounts
It can include NGO’s and other private organizations also.

Other solutions:-
Women Empowerment
Women tends to make up the greatest portion of informal sectors, often ending up in most erratic
and corruptsegments of the sector.
60% of female workers in India are employed by the informal sector.
The reasoning beind why women make up the majority of the informal sector is two fold.
1. Employment in the informal sector is the source of employment that is most readily available
to women.
2. A vast majority of women are employed from their homes (most likely due to the large
number of women who are involved in care work) or are street vendors, which both are
classified in informal section.
Improvement of Public Distribution System
The rashan shops under PDS must be easily accessible to the people below
poverty line.

7. Impacts & Advantages over existing system :
Mass migration in search of employment would decrease.
Promoting agricultural activities to be organic or environmental friendly would lead the workers as well as
consumers to the wealth of health . Ensuring the better environment .
Promoting different sections of agriculture such as dairy, forestry, floriculture, fisheries etc. would lead to build
a productive, competitive, and diversified agricultural sector and facilitate rural, non-farm entrepreneurship and
employment. Encouraging policies that promote competition in agricultural marketing will ensure that farmers
receive better prices."
Promoting arts & handicrafts & cultural activities would develop the self esteem of the workers encouraging
them to be more productive & creative.
Better transportation & Infrastructure would ensure trading places & exploration of the market & this would
lead to the increase of local trade from one corner to others.
Advanced skills would provide a better human resources & diverse system of employment.
Children who can not have reach to the primary education would be able to have access to knowledge .
Education will lighten up the growing minds with the creative ideas and a better way to live.
“Hospital on Wheels” project would work as a weapon tp fight against many diseases having deep roots in the
lower & poor section of the country.

Challenges :
1.So many different types of informality exist with diverse circumstances . Therefore it becomes
necessary to ensure that the system should be implemented in such a way that it can meet each
aspect of diversity to help the needy ones.
