1. Letter of Recommendation
To the graduate admissions committee;
I take immense pleasure in recommending one of the best students of the 2021 batch from our
college, Manasi Anantpurkar, for the Masters in Computer Science program at the University of
California, Davis. I taught her four different subjects throughout her undergraduate program in
Computer Engineering.
In the first year, I taught her Structured Programming Approaches. We focused on programming
in the C language and implementing basics like control loops, functions, arrays, queues, and
pointers. Manasi also worked on a mini-project and developed a food delivery system using C.
She implemented all the concepts that she learned in the course and passed with a 10-pointer
score (best grade) in my subject. This assured me that she is not only intelligent in the theories
but also knows how to implement the knowledge gained.
Manasi has always been enthusiastic about learning new concepts and solving problems. After
Internal Assessment marks were released, I remember that she came up to me asking about her
mistakes. She was interested in learning from her mistakes rather than just rote learning, making
her a unique student, ready to ‘grow’ through it and not ‘go’ through it.
In the second year, I taught the class three courses: Data Structures, Computer Networks, and
Software Engineering. During my lectures, Manasi used to participate in class discussions
actively. She even performed a case study, ‘Travel Buddy,’ which found the cheapest travel route
between two points for the software engineering course. All travel options available in the market
were shown, and the user could choose one of them. She worked on planning the lifecycle,
audience and made an agile model for the mentioned software. She read multiple research
papers, articles and carried out sample studying.
Along with this, Manasi always had good relations with the faculty. As a class representative for
the past three years, she has acted as the perfect liaison between the students and the faculty. I
believe this leadership role has boosted her confidence levels. She also possesses excellent
communication skills and actively participates in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
Manasi needs your college to truly understand the concepts of data science, machine learning,
and other related topics. The coursework will help her achieve her dream of ensuring gender-
neutral and equal-to-all technologies. She is an intelligent and sincere student, and I am sure she
will make utmost use of the knowledge she gains through this program. I would even recommend
her name for the teaching assistantships looking at her performance in undergraduate years. Her
ability to learn new things, passion for her work, strong character, confidence, and capabilities
make her a deserving candidate for this graduate program.
Sincerely,
Mirza Ali Imran,
