The Reykjanes Resource Park aims to create an ecologically balanced and economically prosperous community through the sustainable use of local geothermal resources. HS Orka and Verkís operate the Reykjanes Power Plant that produces 100MWe of energy and plans to expand to 180MWe. The Resource Park concept incorporates fish drying, fish farming, research and development, tourism, and education to minimize waste and maximize efficient use of resources. Current activities include a fish processing plant, cod product development, and a planned sole fish farm. The goal is to establish a center for innovation while creating jobs and environmental awareness for the local community.
