1. Q4. How did your research inform your products and
the way they use or challengeconventions?
For our music video survey, we first had to research about a music video
itself. People already know what a music video is but we had to go more in
depth and had to learn what exactly makes a music video more appealing
and engaging. We learned about differentgenre of a music video and what
the audience likes to see from such genre.
Using this knowledge, we made our questionnaire and started to spread
word of it on social media. After the results of our questionnaire came and
the audience chose future trap for our music video, we again begun our in-
depth research on future trap. The social issue that we found was most
commonin this genre Bullying, drugs, depressionor breakups. This gave
us a clear Insight of our theme and how our product is supposed to be.
2. We then started to prepare for our music video in which we started to see
differentmusic videos and how we can be inspired from them to create an
appealing product. We did a lengthy research in which we searched about
lighting, editing, props and locations. For lighting we decided to go with
natural lighting as the genre of our music video is supposedto show
bullying and what betterway to show such a scene then in a realistic
environment. In Cinematography we followed codes and convention in
almost every shot as we were directly inspired from the official
marshmellow ALONE song. We tried to add our own shots but it would ruin
the balance of the music video and this could really affectour grade.
3. For our project we followed codesand conventions and did not really had
to break any. The editing was kept up to beat so it could be engaging and it
gave a similar vibe to the original music video which was the true source of
our idea. We made sure to keep track of audio waves seen in our editing
software to make sure the sound matched the visuals and to look more
professional.
