This document summarizes a student project on producing thermofuel from waste plastics. The student, Hritwik Ghosh, aims to address both environmental pollution from plastic waste and the need for alternative fuels. The process involves liquefying plastic waste through pyrolysis to produce a fuel that can be used in diesel engines, vehicles, and generators. Advantages include reducing landfill waste and greenhouse gas emissions while creating new jobs and revenue streams from waste treatment. The student cites an example of a company in India that has established a plant to produce diesel fuel from plastic waste.

Production of ThermoFuel from Waste Plastics
1. Name Of The Student: HRITWIK GHOSH
Discipline : Chemical Engineering
Subject: Professional Practice (Seminar)
Semester: 6th Sem
Academic Sassion: 2021

3. INTRODUCTION
PLASTICS HAVE BECOME AN INDISPENSABLE
PART IN TODAY’S WORLD .DUE TO THEIR LIGHT-
WEIGHT , DURABILITY ,ENERGY EFFICIENCY ,
COUPLED WITH A FASTER RATE OF
PRODUCTION AND DESIGN FLEXIBILITY ,THESE
PLASTIC ARE EMPLOYED IN ENTIRE GAMUT OF
INDUSTRIAL AND DOMESTIC AREAS .
PLASTIC ARE NON DEGRADABLE POLYMERS OF
MOSTLY CONTAINING CARBON, HYDROGEN
AND FEW OTHERS ELEMENTS SUCH AS
CHLORINE , NITROGEN ETC.
4. INTRODUCTION
DUE TO ITS NON-BIODEGRADABLE NATURE ,THE
PLASTIC WASTE CONTRIBUTES SIGNIFICANTLY TO
THE PROBLEM OF MUNICIPAL WASTE
MANAGEMENT .
RECYCLING SYSTEM IS THE MOST COMMON
METHOD REFLECTING IN TODAY’S WORLD.
LIQUEFACTION OF PLASTIC IS A SUPERIOR METHOD
OF REUSING THIS RESOURCE. THE OUTPUT
PRODUCT IS AN EXCELLENT FUEL AND MAKES
THERMO FUEL ONE OF THE BEST
ENVIRONMENTALLY SENSITIVE RECYCLING
SYSTEM OF TODAY. THERMO FUEL DIESEL CAN BE
USED IN ANY DIESEL ENGINE,VEHICLES &
GENERETORS.
5. PLASTICS
Plastics are natural / synthetic materials .
They are produced by chemically modifying natural
substances or are synthesized from inorganic and
organic raw material, on the basis of their physical
characteristics ,plastics are usually divided into
thermosets ,elastomers and thermoplastics .
These groups differ primarily with regard to
molecular structure , which is what determines
their differing thermal behavior .
6. IN THIS SCENARIO MY PROJECT AIMS
TO SOLVE THE TWIN PROBLEM OF
ENVIRONMENT POLLUTION DUE TO
PLASTIC AND THE NEED FOR AN
ALTERNATIVE FUEL SOURCE.
THE MAIN AIM OF MY PROJECT IS TO
FIND A SOLUTION TO THE MOUNTINGS
PROBLEM OF PLASTIC DISPOSAL , FOR
WHICH THE PLASTIC ARE CONVERTED
INTO USEABLE FUEL .
10. DRAWBACK
Pyrolysis is an Energy Consuming Process
more Energy has to be put into treat the
waste that can actually be Recovered.
.
11. ADVANTAGES
It reduces the risk of water pollution.
It reduces the waste going into land fill and
green house gas emissions.
It creates new jobs for lower iccome people
based on the quantites of waste.
12. CONVERTING WASTE PLASTIC INTO
FUEL IN INDIA
Agile Process Chemicals LLP or APChemi was founded in 2007
in Mumbai, INDIA by Mr Suhas Dixit.
Apchemi has developed technologies that make chemical
recycling of plastidc safer cleaner and fuel efficient by pyrolysis
process.
They produced oil from plastics wastes as a fuel in industrial
burners and engines.
Apchemi has further refine this oil into a sustainable source
of petrochemicals, solvents, diesel and surfactants.
Diesel and petrochemicals derived out from plastic wastes
are an alternative to diesel and petrochemicals derived out
of crude oil.
13. APChemi has developed patent-pending waste-to-energy technologies for chemical
recycling of the toughest and dirtiest plastics including municipal solid waste
segregated plastics and multilayer packaging. Mentioned above is the process flow
chart of APChemi Pyrolysis Technology

15. CONVERTING WASTE PLASTIC INTO
FUEL IN INDIA
A plant, Unique Plastic Waste Management &
Research Co Pvt Ltd, was set up at the industrial
estate in Nagpur.
Industrial units in the area are running their captive
power plants on this fuel and are happy with its
pricing and performance.
The fuel is priced at Rs30 per litre.
16. CONCLUSION
The production of thermofuel from waste plastics is
one of the better methods to save the environment
profitably. The collected fuel had been tested and the
sample test result have been enclosed with this report
which shows its stability in this world as a fuel. I here by
conclude that my project will be a pillar to save the
environment and source for fuel.
