2016 has a number of celebratory annniversary dates including Roald Dahl, Beatrix Potter and The Great Fire of London, so Central Youth Theatre are offering primary schools the opportinity to book in drama packages over half a term, a full term or one off sessions.

outreach packages.
The Primary Packages focus on:
Beatrix Potter
Roald Dahl
The Great Fire of London
Our workshop packages are a fantastic way to celebrate World Book
Day on Thursday 3rd March or simply enhance pupils’ skills as part of
a curriculum enrichment day for a specific year group or the whole
school.

2. 2016 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of author
Beatrix Potter
Born in London in 1866, Helen Beatrix Potter was best known for
her imaginative children’s books such as The Tale of Peter Rabbit.
She spent many childhood holidays in the Lake District, an area
that was a huge influence on her later writing.
Our drama workshops will:
Introduce the history and life of Beatrix Potter to pupils’,
including growing up in Victorian England.
Explore the settings and characters depicted in her books
Bring to life the characters she created including Peter
Rabbit, Mrs Tiggywinkle, Squirrel Nutkin, The Tailor of
Gloucester and many more.
Provide an opportunity for pupils to develop their own
creative writing skills by writing and performing short
stories
3. 2016 marks the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl’s birth
Born on 13 September 1916, Roald Dahl captured the imagination of
children around the world with his tales including James and the Giant
Peach, Matilda, The Witches, Fantastic Mr Fox, The Twits and The BFG.
Our drama workshops will:
Introduce the works and life of Roald Dahl to pupils’
Explore the settings and characters depicted in his stories
including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, James and
the Giant Peach, The Witches, Fantastic Mr Fox, The BFG, The
Twits and George's Marvellous Medicine.
Allow children to create their own ‘Roald Dahl’ vocabulary
to be used in creative writing exercises in poems and short
stories
Introduce new drama skills to pupils’ including physical
theatre, sound-scapes and characterisation
4. 2016 marks the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of London
Starting in a small bakery on Pudding Lane, the infamous Great Fire of
London swept across the City of London over three days.
Our drama workshops will:
Introduce pupils’ to the key facts surrounding The Great Fire of
London, including dates, location, causes and effects
Explore historical texts depicting the fire including Samuel Pepys
Explore issues such as health and housing in London in 1666
Enable pupils’ to create sound scapes, letters, poems, freeze-
frames and scenes depicting the consequences of The Great Fire
of London
