Book Name: “The Secret Garden” by Frances Hodgson published in 1911
CENTRAL IDEA OF THE STORY: (Precise Moral of the Story)
The central idea of the book revolves around the transformative power of nature and the healing effects
of positive human connections.
The moral of the story is closely tied to themes of personal growth, friendship, and the importance of
connection. The beauty of the natural world bring about a renewal of health, happiness, and a sense of
wonder.
SUMMARY: (Summarize the Book or Novel in your own words)
In the book we read about a girl name Mary lenox who feels lonely and forgotten. After her parents
death due to chloera epidemic she was sent to live with her uncle in a big, mysterious house. At first,
Mary was very unhappy, but everything changes when she discovers a hidden, neglected garden on
uncle’s house which was build by her mother and her uncle’s wife.
As Mary starts spending time in the garden, she meets her cousin Colin, who has been kept hidden away
in the big house of her uncle, due to belief that he is sick and bed ridden. Together with their new
friend, they decide to bring the garden back to life.
As they work on the garden, something magical happens. The beauty and freshness of the plants and
flowers have a healing effect on everyone.
Through their time in the garden, Mary, Colin, and even her uncle, experience positive changes. Mary
forgets her old selfish personality and become a caring and responsible young girl. Colin, who was once
weak and sick, gains strength and confidence and her uncle, who has been grief and withdrawn since
the death of his wife, begins to open up and connect with his son.

Friendship plays a crucial role in the story. Mary, Colin, and Dickon form a close bond, and their
connection helps them overcome challenges. The garden becomes a place where they not only grow
flowers but also grow as individuals, learning about themselves and each other

The Secret Garden novel was written by Frances Hodgson Burnett. She was born on England and was a
British-American novelist and playwright.
Frances works often explore themes of transformation, the power of imagination, and the impact of
nature on individuals. Besides "The Secret Garden," some of her other well-known works include "Little
Lord Fauntleroy" and "A Little Princess."

We hope that I will foster a sense of community and engagement. This Wishing Tree not only aligns with
our event theme but also offers a unique and uplifting experience, making it an ideal activity to enhance
the overall ambiance and participant experience
