3. PRACTICAL
• How to increase every child’s agency at
the hospital and beyond?
• How to keep hospitalized children
connected to their families, peers and
communities?
• How to ease young patients’ stress and
anxiety?
• How to harness new media and digital
technologies?
METHODOLOGICAL
• Which methods and models of design
are needed for creating solutions that
are able to address the diversity of
goals and needs of hospitalized
children?
• How to facilitate co-creation processes
in multidisciplinary teams that take the
needs and interests of the child at the
center of their attention?

Editor's Notes
This research and development project addresses a pressing societal challenge surrounding the quality of children’s hospital services.
We contend that all children, regardless of their health condition, age, region, ethnicity or socio-economic background have a fundamental right to experiences that promote their learning and wellbeing.
The project will generate ground-breaking knowledge and innovations for children’s hospitals, tackling acute societal challenges surrounding every child’s equal rights to a quality of life, care and learning.
The final result of the project is a collection of innovative designs and solutions for the hospitalized child, his/her families and children’s hospitals in general.
