The Importance Of Terrorism
Terrorism is an international problem that has affected many nations directly and indirectly for hundreds of years. It is defined by many as "a method
of governing or of resisting a government by the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce the target" (Baylis 403). Although there are many
signs and indicators of terrorist activities, such as: surveillance, elicitation, and supplies, it will always be a struggle to combat with terrorism.
Unfortunately, because of this, the world will have to continue to learn to live with terrorism.
Since terrorism is an inevitable aspect of life, it is important that everyone is educated on the subject. There are four known types of terrorist groups
categorized by their source of motivation:...show more content...
Lastly, it is important that citizens pay attention to anyone acquiring suspicious supplies. These supplies will include items such as: explosives,
weapons, ammunition, chemicals, or chemical equipment ("Secure"). Terrorists are known to create massive destruction without being recognized for
their suspicious behavior. On November 16th, 2017 at least 18 people were killed outside of a restaurant by an alleged car bomb in Kabul,
Afghanistan (Maps). Because of the fact that terrorists can so easily blend in with anyone, it is hard to challenge their acts of terror.
Once terrorists realized how easy it was for them to implement so much fear on so many people, terrorism went from being domestic to transnational.
From 1980 – 2017 there were at least 11 terrorist attacks on United States soil ("US Terrorist"). As of right now there are 195 countries in the world
and all of them are at risk just as the United States is ("Countries"). It has become so easy for terrorists to attack transnationally because of the
advancements in air travel, technology, and political interests intersected around a common cause.
Air travel seemed rather impressive to terrorists for many reasons. In the beginning airport security measures seemed non–existent, but that has since
changed. When there was virtually no airport security, it was common for terrorists to take part in skyjackings. Skyjackings are when the terrorists

Essay On Terrorism And Terrorism
Terrorism has many trends in our today's world, the enormity of the complexity of the numbers of terrorism and why some are combatted against
and some just get away with whatever bad they did. Usually, there will be individual ways of lives that may traditionally opposed to the use of
violence in addressing certain situations due to the inability of a total disregard or unwillingness of the society to engage with certain trouble makers
in the world. Plus as the famous saying goes "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter." Because if a group of people that shared the same
ideology are against one subgroup of people that they don't identify with may result to violence or even negligence of some of those threats and
violence by the central authorities running that particular place and these types of negligence resort to grievances that often escalates the rate of hatred,
anger, bigotry among citizens of the same nation and may end up violent between groups that are not even known as a terrorist organization because
vengeance and animosity and grievances all comes in different forms and people that embark on terrorism as a results of trends like these, may not
necessary belong to well–known terrorists organizations. Lack of high status in both politics and or in any socio–economic or political opportunity may
attract violence in the society. People have to eat if they are starving, people want to be entitled to some form of status in life or want to be

Essay On State Sponsored Terrorism
Terrorism in the United States has taken a big step since 9/11. After 9/11 there have been more and more police officers working. There are a lot or
terrorist groups around the world but there are also motivational terrorist. The word terrorism does not really have a straight forward definition because
there is different form of terrorism. The types of terrorisms that is around that people know are state sponsored terrorism, dissent terrorism, terrorists
from left and right, religious terrorism and criminal terrorism. State sponsored terrorism can be defined as a government that supports any actions of
terrorism. State sponsors are driven by a number of reasons, a number of which is intersected. There are frequently political, and is...show more

Their engagements are usually poorly organized and there are few recognizable organizations. Some main key organizations are that of Ku Klux Klan,
Neo–Nazis, State Militias and fringe religious groups. As for Left–Wing terrorism which is more on the attack towards industries and business and is
believe to be harmless. Religious terrorism has been the main cause to today's terrorist, religious terrorism is based on motivation and goals.
Religious terrorism consists of performances that scare; go along with by a religious motivation, justification, organization, or world view.
Religion is sometimes used in mixture with other influences, and sometimes as the main inspiration. Religious Terrorism is closely associated to
present powers of geopolitics. Lastly is Criminal Terrorism is crimes done outside the US that is brought to the US for a profit. An example of
criminal terrorism is Mexican drug cartel. Mexican drug cartels would sneak drugs to the United States for money or even a way to get into the
United States illegally. Criminal Terrorism is now bigger then it was a few decades ago and is still going on. When people think of terrorist they
think Middle East countries Arabs etc. They are all sorts or terrorists in the world there are even operations group in the US. But many people believe
that the world is just based on people outside of the United States. Vice versa, many people from other countries believe the same

Realism and the War on Terror Essay
Realist thought on international relations fit comfortably within the context of the great wars of the twentieth century. Powerful nations possessing
massive military forces took aim at one another to affect the hierarchical structure of the international system for the good of their own security and
power. These wars, however, differ greatly from today's unconventional war on terrorism. Therefore, therealist theories of yesterday, while still useful,
require at least some tweaking to fit the present situation.
Probably the most obvious critique of realism with regard to the war on terrorism is that it is a theory that deals with international relations. The
belligerents in the war on terrorism are not...show more content...
On the other hand, one area in which realism is valuable to the war on terrorism is with regard to the notion that raw military might is one of the
best, if not the best way for nations to ensure their security and prosperity. While it is a bit dubious to assume that conventional military forces will
be able to effectively combat individual physical acts of terrorism, it is reasonable to assume that military force can be used to change some of the
root causes of terrorist action. Many of the terrorist attacks against the United States over the past two decades have been carried out by Islamic
extremists from impoverished countries run by tyrannically oppressive regimes. The quality of life for most people in these countries is miserable at
best. As such, it should come as no surprise that people from these circumstances are prone to defending with violence what they believe to be attacks
by the West on the only good thing they have– religion. However, in the absence of such wretched circumstance, it is likely that they will be less
inclined to act violently. History has shown that the most effective way to create wealth and subsequently improve quality of life is within the
framework of capitalism supported by liberal democratic institutions. Conventional military might can, as we have seen recently in Iraq, depose
tyrannical regimes and replace them with

Essay on Terrorism
Terrorism is the use or threat of violence to create fear and alarm. Terrorists murder and kidnap people, set off bombs, hijack airplanes, set fires, and
commit other serious crimes. But the goals of terrorists differ from those of ordinary criminals. Most criminals want money or some other form of
personal gain. Most terrorists commit crimes to support political causes.
The word terrorism first appeared during the French Revolution (1789–1799). Some of the revolutionaries who seized power in France adopted a policy
of violence against their enemies. The period of their rule became known as the Reign of Terror.
Features of terrorism. Terrorist acts are committed for various reasons. Some individuals and groups that use terrorism...show more content...
They often threaten to kill the hostages if their demands are not met. Some terrorism involves the intentional release of toxic chemicals, poisons, germs,
or other harmful substances. Bombings make up about half of all terrorist acts.
Terrorism may cross national boundaries. A quarrel in one nation may produceterrorist attacks in several other countries. Some governments secretly
support certain terrorist groups by providing weapons, training, and money for attacks in other countries.
Most terrorist groups fail to achieve their long–range political goals. Governments fight terrorism by refusing to accept terrorist demands and by
increasing security at airports and other likely targets. Some countries train special military units to rescue hostages. All terrorist acts are crimes under
international law.
History of terrorism. Terrorist tactics have been used for centuries. An American group, the Ku Klux Klan, used violence to terrorize blacks and their
sympathizers in the late 1800's and the 1900's. In the 1930's, the dictators Adolf Hitler of Germany, Benito Mussolini of Italy, and Joseph Stalin of the
Soviet Union used terrorism to discourage opposition to their governments. In Northern Ireland, Roman Catholic and Protestant extremists have used
violence to push for, respectively, the end of, or the continuation of, British rule.
Some terrorist groups in the 1960's sought the destruction of the political and

Cause Of Terrorism Essay
People use terrorism to cause a sense of fear in a group of people and to make a clear stand on how they feel about a certain topic. Terrorism first
became apparent during the French Revolution in the 1790s (Jenkins, 2017). This time era, known as the Reign of Terror, carried out mass killings of
innocent civilians by a torture device called the guillotine (Jenkins, 2017). Since this time, terrorism has become more prominent all over the world.
Presently, terrorism shows a clear political standing within a certain group of people. Terrorism is an ongoing problem that the world faces today.
Many different examples of terrorism have happened in the world. One of the most well–known terrorist attacks happened on September 11, 2001, at the

This group called themselves the Islamic State or better known as ISIS. The article addresses that "Islamic terrorists are the most notorious of today's
violent radicals..." (Morgan, 2004). A few of the major attacks that ISIS has coordinated in the last couple of years have occurred in Paris, France. The
first attack, carried out on January 7, 2015, happened at a location of a magazine shop called the Charlie Hebdo. Two Islamic terrorists entered the
shop located in Paris and killed eleven people, including the editor (Ray, 2016). Little did Paris know that it was the first of many deadly assaults
(Ray, 2016).
Months after the deadly offense took place, another planned attack took place. On August 21, 2015, an ISIS accomplice boarded the train carrying an
AK–47 assault rifle, a pistol, and many rounds of ammunition with the intent to kill. Luckily, the passengers on board the train were able to render the
man incapable of doing what he set out to do. Two of the men that helped take the man down acted as off–duty U.S. military members vacationing in
France (Ray, 2016).
A few months later, the terrorist attacks increased in the city, causing devastation for the entire country. On November 13, 2015, multiple attacks
aroused all over the city (Ray, 2016). At the Stade de France, France and Germany participated in a soccer match where France's president, François
Hollande, was in attendance. A suicide bomber attempted to enter the stadium when

Terrorism In Terrorism
Terrorism is certainly nothing new, it is an unfortunate reality that often leads to violence, and is not likely to stop in the future. With modern
technology, carrying out these often–bloody attacks may not have become any easier, but has certainly allowed the groups that carry out these attacks
to become more effective at reaching their goal. Using the media, terrorists and/or insurgencies can leverage television and the internet to spread a
message that they are both serious, and that their cause is justified.
Terrorist organizations use the media to spread their message to others, to convince others that their cause is justified, to show the world what they can
do, and that they should be taken seriously. In Gordon H. McCormick's article "Terrorist Decision Making" he mentions several quotes by Karl
Heinzen, whom he refers to as a "radical German publicist. Heinzen believed that with the State having the ultimate advantage over the revolutionist,
"murder [...] must be turned into a science" by those operating against the state, to have a chance. Although Heinzen did not realize it during his life,
the "science" of murder he spoke about would later include using the media, to inflict the maximum effect, with the smallest cost on the side of the
terrorist organization. One example of terrorists using the media to leverage their position is mentioned in Boaz Ganor's contribution to. In Chapter 16
of "The Routledge History of Terrorism", Boaz Ganor describes a

Militaries Role In Combating Terrorism
Terrorism
Terrorism...This is a very common word in today's society. What does it mean? Or more importantly how do "we" prevent it and if necessary combat
it? The word most commonly used to explain this is counter terrorism, but is also known as anti–terrorism. The military is a great force in combating
terrorism with specialist groups in nearly each branch of the armed forces. Prior to the September 11 attacks the United States Armed Forces worked
hand in hand with NATO and the United Nations combating terror. However after these attacks, the United States Military has become a widely
utilized entity on fighting terrorism.
Before even discussing anything about terrorism you have to have a broad understand of what it is. The...show more content...
What few people understand is that terrorist groups are very organized and one unit of the cell can have no idea who the members of another unit
are. In other words two people can be working for the same cause, in the same organization pass each other on the street and have no idea who each
other are. This is to set up a lack of information chain. One cell will only know their part. If they were to be captured they could not give information
about the other cells in their organization. This is one of the reasons it is so hard to combat terrorism and why using the military is so controversial.
What is the militaries role in combating terrorism? How do you fight something with guns that is so broad and complex? It seems that the militaries
current role is to capture known terrorists and to kill anyone that poses a threat. However it is much more complex then it appears. Each branch has a
role in combating terrorism, some more advertised than others. Not only does each branch work by itself but they also work together and with other
countries. When working as their own entities they still work together. For Example currently in Iraq, the United States Army is working on their own
set of missions and the same with the Marines. However the missions the Army and Marine forces accomplish work to accomplish the goals for their
country. So in a sense the not one branch will ever work completely alone.

Terrorism : Terrorism And Terrorism
With every terrorist attack executed, people like to blame the terrorists for attacking and causing fear and death in the world. Yes, those terrorists hold
responsibility for those deaths, but the common people of the world in addition to the leaders of the world, also hold responsibility for allowing
terrorism to be successful and continue. Terrorists gain power through the common, innocent people they attack. How the world responds to terrorist
attacks determines whether or not terrorism will cease. The common people's response to terrorism, the interest of the state, and the media's role in
terrorism all aide to terrorism's success and its continuation in the future. How people willingly choose to respond to terrorist attacks defines terrorism
and determines if terrorism will continue. For example, after the 9/11 attacks occurred, some Americans began to grieve while others began to act on
their anger. Police claim that "nearly 600 incidents in the first 10 days after the attacks" occurred due to people erupting with rage (History.com Staff).
A Pakistani grocery man was killed in Texas (History.com Staff). A man in Arizona shot an Indian gas station owner because he was on an anti
–Arab
rampage (History.com Staff). These attacks that Americans chose to do out of fear, sadness, and anger causes other people to become overwhelmed
with the same emotions, ultimately enabling the terrorist groups. Terrorists thrive off of chaos (The Dark Knight Rises). The more

Terrorism
Many of us will embrace our loved ones before leaving our homes to start a hectic workday. As we hug our children and kiss our spouses goodbye,
the thought of losing them, or our lives to acts of terrorism, is typically not one to cross our minds. On September 11, 2001, this mere thought became
the reality for many families. The eleventh of September will forever be remembered as the date a terrorist organization, known as al–Qaeda, attacked
the United States killing thousands of innocent people. The al–Qaeda organization have exposed vulnerabilities in the United States' homeland security.
Many have questioned how could this happen to a country known to be the most powerful nation in the world and what steps are being taken to
prevent these acts from occurring in the future? Today, terrorism is a forefront global issue bringing nations together to develop ways to improve
national security for all. The term terrorism, in English use, originated during the French Revolution 's Reign of Terror when violent acts were
carried out by a political group called the Jacobin Club. The Jacobin Club conducted numerous of guillotine killings to enforce obedience from the
state and to bully regime enemies (History of Terrorism). History also shows when individuals disagree with beliefs or views of another group of
people, sometimes acts of violence and destruction are used to intimidate or conform. Examples of acts of

The Ethical Implications Of Terrorism
Terrorism has been a detrimental issue in our society and, in direct response to the threat, the intelligence community started to use a tactic that proved,
to some, to be divisive and controversial: torture. They believed that in order to protect their constituencies and countries they felt that torture, kept
relatively private, would effectively root out terrorism and the strategies that they employ. However, as with anything in the age of the Internet, nothing
stays quiet for long and many human rights groups have taken an opposition to the use of torture. This has increasingly become more and more
controversial of an activity and thus we need to start to look at the ethical implications of torture and how that impacts the future of counter–terrorism
and intelligence gathering. Before we delve into ethics we need to set up a base knowledge by looking at the historical implications of torture, how it
has evolved, and where that leaves us today. Following that the paper will head towards how torture is used and how effective it is. Finally, after
understanding these first, key points we will begin to dive into how utilizing torture does, or does not, affect our ethics. Now, we move towards the
history behind torturing terrorism. As is normally an upstanding practice in any research attempt, the history behind utilizing torture as a tactic against
terrorism has to be examined before moving on to look at the other aspects behind these actions. Torturing terrorists has been a

Essay on Solutions for Terrorism
Terrorism is a controversial issue which spans the globe, Terrorism is defined as using force to influence or change a political decision. This is a
relevant definition which can easily be related to in this day and age. There are many ideas about how to deal with this menacing threat one being a
diplomatic solution some believe that the United Nations (UN) should step in and resolve it peacefully. Others oppose this idea and believe that the
only solution is violence. Many up hold the idea of violence and that joint North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) and special forces operations
should tackle the threat head on
The history of terrorism can be traced back as far as the French revolution and Guy Fawkes. These acts of terrorism...show more content...
One possible solution to preventing further blood shed is simple diplomacy. This theory is to meet the terrorists' masterminds on common ground.
Whether the terrorists may simply be paid to disappear or sign a ceasefire, treaty or some sort of amnesty has not yet been out lined to the public
but the United Nations must be searching for a peaceful resolve without a major loss of civilian or military life. I believe that a diplomatic solution
will never permanently abolish terrorism or postpone it in any way. In my opinion modern day terrorists are simply too radical to sign any kind of
diplomatic contract with the western world that will not allow them to practice or express their believes.
A more realistic campaign to end terrorism would be one of military, NATO and special forces campaigns across the middle
–east and Asia. The
assassination of leaders and masterminds and a crack down of people and political leaders that publicly express their support for bombings and public
demise. Also organisations and entrepreneurs which secretly fund terrorist campaigns and weapon funds should be detained and prosecuted. This
solution to terrorism is greatly opposed by many government officals and the public alike. Although many would like to think that there is a diplomatic
solution the harsh truth is that there isn't.

Stopping Terrorism Worldwide Essay
Can We Stop the Worldwide Disease–Terrorism? Terrorism, which has been around for as long as people can remember, has been on the rise for the
past ten years. Terrorists usually use murdering, kidnapping, hi–jacking and bombings to achieve their political purpose. For instance, according to
Wikipedia.com (2006), in 1985 816 deaths, then in 2003, more than 1,000 people died by terorist acts around the world. In recent years, terrorism
seems to be at a new height and attacks are much more violent than in the past. Unfortunately, in spite of many anti–terror campaigns, projects and
organizations are being created for prevention (to prevent) terrorism, the number of terrorists only is increasing. These days terrorism is all over the

For example, the Andijan Events, which happened in 2005. Many innocent people were killed during the terrorists attempt to take control over the
government of (maybe in) Andijan. As the President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov said (Uzbek Nation Will Never Depend on Others, 2005), the
executors of that terror act were the members of, so–called, Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan. Their primary goal was to set Caliphate in Uzbekistan,
which would have made Uzbekistan an Islamic Republic and led to put dot in Uzbekistan's development, especially in economy growth. Also, there are
some other reasons for terrorist acts such as: hate towards a race, nationality, or religion. The following example contains all reasons listed above.
Another international terror group Al–Qaeda, number one terror group with a multimillionaire leader Osama Ben Laden, carried out a terror attack in
2001, in USA. Referring to Wikipedia.com (2006), terrorists hijacked four commercial airplanes and crashed two of them into World Trade Centre, in
Manhattan. The other one crashed to US Pentagon, and fourth crashed in rural place in Pennsylvania. It took about 2,986 lives of innocent people,
including 19 hijackers, and more than 40 000 people were injured. In both examples mentioned above, there are exact motivating factors. In both cases
the motivating factors are ideology and religion. But there are also many other factors which make people become terrorists and take guns in their
hands or blow themselves

Terrorism As A Crime, Or Terrorism Essay
Terrorism as warfare, terrorism as a crime, or terrorism as a disease. Whichever view is adopted is determined by the kinds of countermeasures
countries will use in their efforts to deal with terrorism. Definitions of terrorism are diverse and commentators and scholars tend to disagree on which
is the most accurate. This usually occurs because the different types of terrorism are so widespread, and some experts will include or exclude various
groups depending on their preferences. Terrorism is a special form of violence, where a group aims to compel another's actions through the use of fear
with the aim of forcing it to modify its behaviours. This essay will develop and defend this particular definition of terrorism and look at the
psychological tactics that terrorists use to spread fear through violence.
Since 1994, the United Nations General Assembly has condemned terrorist actions by stating, "Criminal acts intended or calculated to provoke a state
of terror in the general public, a group of persons or particular persons for political purposes are in any circumstance unjustifiable, whatever the
considerations of a political, philosophical, ideological, racial, ethnic, religious or any other nature that may be invoked to justify them" (U.N.G.A.,
2014; Schmid, 2011). The concept of terrorism goes back much further than that, however. The term "terrorism" began to be introduced to the English
language during the Reign of Terror from 1793–94, at the time of the French

How To Write A Speech On Terrorism
English Speech: Terrorism
Good (morning/afternoon) and welcome to my speech. Today I would like to enlighten you with a subject that I feel strongly about. That subject is
terrorism and what it has done to the world. My personal opinion is that terrorism is something that is causing havoc in this place called earth and it
should stopped before it gets out of our hands.
The word terrorism in the English dictionary means "violent action for political purposes." This is the proper definition but my definition differs a
little. My definition is a bunch of scumbags trying to kill other people as a hobby. Acts of terrorism has become a major issue in the past year and a

The most recent form of terrorism was when 2 terrorists entered a Hindu place of worship and with ease killed 33 innocent victims and injuring many
more. This was the most hurtful act of terrorism for me as this Hindu place of worship was where I have prayed before and it was my religious
building that got attacked. Fortunately, these 2 terrorists were brought to justice and killed.
Due to the acts of terrorism security has been tightened all over the world but yet terrorists find ways of breaking into other countries and causing
havoc. Security has been tightened in airports, buildings and even religious places of worship have got to grips with the true meaning of security.

Terrorism And Terrorism Essay
Terrorism has been a problem in the United States since the late 90s. Some of the key historical incidents are the World Trade Center bombing in
1993, 9/11, and the Oklahoma City bombing. A shadow that seems to hide behind terroristic acts is hate crimes and in particular, hate crimes directed
towards Muslims. Is there a causation between terrorism and anti–Muslim hate crime incidents? If so, how big of an impact do terror attacks play on
hate crimes? Studies have been conducted regarding the interrelationship between hate crimes and terrorism and whether one is dependent off of the
other. The purpose of this study is to present data from the Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) which provides data on hate crime incidents and the Global
Terrorism Database (GTD) which provides data on terroristic incidents in order to understand whether causation exists between terrorism caused in the
United States and anti–Muslim hate crimes. Hate crimes directed towards Jews will as well be considered because of the long standing tension and
conflicts between the two. Do terrorism incidents cause anti–Muslim hate crime incidents to increase more than anti–Jewish hate crime incidents or
vice–versa?
Purpose of Research:
The biggest concern all over the world that is portrayed through media happens to be terrorism. Terrorism and hate crimes affect society in so that it is

Radicalization is a process of socialization to extremism. Radicalization processes is what lead to acts of terrorism. It thrives in an enabling
environment with a sediments of injustice, exclusion and humiliation among the terrorists groups. Triggering factors varying in accordance to
individual experience and personal pathways to radicalization, it is due to global, sociological and political drivers such as extreme marginalization,
general decline or globalization. Hence, to analyze the drivers of radicalization, we need to understand the collective grievances behind radicalism by
making comparisons of primary causes of radicalization which will ultimately lead to terrorism in different terrorists groups like ISIS and LTTE, will
allow us to decide if whether terrorism is primarily due to globalization.
Terrorism is primarily due to globalization. Due to globalization, there was a widespread of dissatisfaction, due to the very rapid changes in society, and
the Western supremacy. Breeding grounds for radicalism and terrorist recruitment emerge not because of deprivation, but rather the time at which
negative social, economic and political trends converge. Especially in the Arab world, relative deprivation, the absence of opportunities relative to

A Study Of Terrorism And The Terrorist
The study of terrorism and the terrorist is not something belonging to any particular discipline. What does forensic psychology have to offer?
In the present political climate terrorism is a grave and growing concern for the national security of many countries. While it is important to
acknowledge that acts of terrorism date back through centuries of recorded history, it is nevertheless apparent that today, the threat of terrorism is as
dire, if not more so, than ever before. Terrorism dominates public and media attention compared to other types of violent offending (Ruby, 2002b), and
9/11 and the 7/7 London bombings have demonstrated the devastating capabilities attributable to successful terrorist acts. Thus, understanding terrorism
and 'what makes someone a terrorist', with a view to predicting terrorist attacks and behaviour, is a concern shared by many domains, including
forensic psychology (FP), criminology and political science. While Borum (2004) notes that FP does not provide the sole analytic framework with
which to understand terrorism, it is important to recognise the contributions FP has made, and is still making, to the subject. Therefore, the present
essay will discuss what FP has to offer in the study of terrorism with reference to past, present and potential directions for future research.
Contributions of Forensic Psychology
FP focuses on terrorism from an individual perspective. As Taylor points out: "individuals commit terrorist acts" (Taylor, 2012,

There may be some Muslims who are terrorists, but not all Muslims are terrorist and Islam as a religion does not promote terrorism and defines as a

happening against United States are linked to Al–Qaeda and all Muslims are stereotyped as terrorists by the westerners with no proof. If what
happened on 9/11 was terrorism then so is the violence in Iraq and most recently in Lebanon. According to me, both Islam and Christianity are great
religions and both promote peace, and who ever is involved in killing innocent people does not follow any religion."All Muslims may not be terrorists,
but all terrorists are Muslims."(Aiyer 23) This comment, frequently heard after the Mumbai bomb blasts implies that terrorism is a Muslim specialty, if
not a monopoly. Muslims are actively committing acts of terrorism in many parts of the world and justifying it by pointing towards the Koran. Even the
west is not untouched anymore. Thirty new terrorist organizations have emerged since the September 11 attacks, outpacing the United States' efforts to
crush the threat. Recently, a court in Paris sentenced 25 Muslims militants for planning attacks against the Eiffel Tower and other targets with

The Importance Of Terrorism

  • 1. The Importance Of Terrorism Terrorism is an international problem that has affected many nations directly and indirectly for hundreds of years. It is defined by many as "a method of governing or of resisting a government by the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce the target" (Baylis 403). Although there are many signs and indicators of terrorist activities, such as: surveillance, elicitation, and supplies, it will always be a struggle to combat with terrorism. Unfortunately, because of this, the world will have to continue to learn to live with terrorism. Since terrorism is an inevitable aspect of life, it is important that everyone is educated on the subject. There are four known types of terrorist groups categorized by their source of motivation:...show more content... Lastly, it is important that citizens pay attention to anyone acquiring suspicious supplies. These supplies will include items such as: explosives, weapons, ammunition, chemicals, or chemical equipment ("Secure"). Terrorists are known to create massive destruction without being recognized for their suspicious behavior. On November 16th, 2017 at least 18 people were killed outside of a restaurant by an alleged car bomb in Kabul, Afghanistan (Maps). As of right now there are 195 countries in the world and all of them are at risk just as the United States is ("Countries"). It has become so easy for terrorists to attack transnationally because of the advancements in air travel, technology, and political interests intersected around a common cause. Air travel seemed rather impressive to terrorists for many reasons. In the beginning airport security measures seemed non–existent, but that has since changed. When there was virtually no airport security, it was common for terrorists to take part in skyjackings. Skyjackings are when the terrorists would Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Essay On Terrorism And Terrorism Terrorism has many trends in our today's world, the enormity of the complexity of the numbers of terrorism and why some are combatted against and some just get away with whatever bad they did. Usually, there will be individual ways of lives that may traditionally opposed to the use of violence in addressing certain situations due to the inability of a total disregard or unwillingness of the society to engage with certain trouble makers in the world. Plus as the famous saying goes "One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter." Because if a group of people that shared the same ideology are against one subgroup of people that they don't identify with may result to violence or even negligence of some of those threats and violence by the central authorities running that particular place and these types of negligence resort to grievances that often escalates the rate of hatred, anger, bigotry among citizens of the same nation and may end up violent between groups that are not even known as a terrorist organization because vengeance and animosity and grievances all comes in different forms and people that embark on terrorism as a results of trends like these, may not necessary belong to well–known terrorists organizations. Lack of high status in both politics and or in any socio–economic or political opportunity may attract violence in the society. People have to eat if they are starving, people want to be entitled to some form of status in life or want to be Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay On State Sponsored Terrorism Terrorism in the United States has taken a big step since 9/11. After 9/11 there have been more and more police officers working. There are a lot or terrorist groups around the world but there are also motivational terrorist. The word terrorism does not really have a straight forward definition because there is different form of terrorism. The types of terrorisms that is around that people know are state sponsored terrorism, dissent terrorism, terrorists from left and right, religious terrorism and criminal terrorism. State sponsored terrorism can be defined as a government that supports any actions of terrorism. State sponsors are driven by a number of reasons, a number of which is intersected. There are frequently political, and is...show more content... Their engagements are usually poorly organized and there are few recognizable organizations. Some main key organizations are that of Ku Klux Klan, Neo–Nazis, State Militias and fringe religious groups. As for Left–Wing terrorism which is more on the attack towards industries and business and is believe to be harmless. Religious Terrorism is closely associated to present powers of geopolitics. Lastly is Criminal Terrorism is crimes done outside the US that is brought to the US for a profit. An example of criminal terrorism is Mexican drug cartel. Mexican drug cartels would sneak drugs to the United States for money or even a way to get into the United States illegally. Criminal Terrorism is now bigger then it was a few decades ago and is still going on. When people think of terrorist they think Middle East countries Arabs etc. They are all sorts or terrorists in the world there are even operations group in the US. But many people believe that the world is just based on people outside of the United States. Vice versa, many people from other countries believe the same Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Realism and the War on Terror Essay Realist thought on international relations fit comfortably within the context of the great wars of the twentieth century. Powerful nations possessing massive military forces took aim at one another to affect the hierarchical structure of the international system for the good of their own security and power. These wars, however, differ greatly from today's unconventional war on terrorism. Therefore, therealist theories of yesterday, while still useful, require at least some tweaking to fit the present situation. Probably the most obvious critique of realism with regard to the war on terrorism is that it is a theory that deals with international relations. The belligerents in the war on terrorism are not...show more content... On the other hand, one area in which realism is valuable to the war on terrorism is with regard to the notion that raw military might is one of the best, if not the best way for nations to ensure their security and prosperity. While it is a bit dubious to assume that conventional military forces will be able to effectively combat individual physical acts of terrorism, it is reasonable to assume that military force can be used to change some of the root causes of terrorist action. Many of the terrorist attacks against the United States over the past two decades have been carried out by Islamic extremists from impoverished countries run by tyrannically oppressive regimes. The quality of life for most people in these countries is miserable at best. As such, it should come as no surprise that people from these circumstances are prone to defending with violence what they believe to be attacks by the West on the only good thing they have– religion. However, in the absence of such wretched circumstance, it is likely that they will be less inclined to act violently. History has shown that the most effective way to create wealth and subsequently improve quality of life is within the framework of capitalism supported by liberal democratic institutions. Conventional military might can, as we have seen recently in Iraq, depose tyrannical regimes and replace them with Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Essay on Terrorism Terrorism is the use or threat of violence to create fear and alarm. Terrorists murder and kidnap people, set off bombs, hijack airplanes, set fires, and commit other serious crimes. But the goals of terrorists differ from those of ordinary criminals. Most criminals want money or some other form of personal gain. Most terrorists commit crimes to support political causes. The word terrorism first appeared during the French Revolution (1789–1799). Some of the revolutionaries who seized power in France adopted a policy of violence against their enemies. The period of their rule became known as the Reign of Terror. Features of terrorism. Terrorist acts are committed for various reasons. Some individuals and groups that use terrorism...show more content... They often threaten to kill the hostages if their demands are not met. Some terrorism involves the intentional release of toxic chemicals, poisons, germs, or other harmful substances. Bombings make up about half of all terrorist acts. Terrorism may cross national boundaries. A quarrel in one nation may produceterrorist attacks in several other countries. Some governments secretly support certain terrorist groups by providing weapons, training, and money for attacks in other countries. Most terrorist groups fail to achieve their long–range political goals. Governments fight terrorism by refusing to accept terrorist demands and by increasing security at airports and other likely targets. Some countries train special military units to rescue hostages. All terrorist acts are crimes under international law. History of terrorism. Terrorist tactics have been used for centuries. An American group, the Ku Klux Klan, used violence to terrorize blacks and their sympathizers in the late 1800's and the 1900's. In the 1930's, the dictators Adolf Hitler of Germany, Benito Mussolini of Italy, and Joseph Stalin of the Soviet Union used terrorism to discourage opposition to their governments. In Northern Ireland, Roman Catholic and Protestant extremists have used violence to push for, respectively, the end of, or the continuation of, British rule. Some terrorist groups in the 1960's sought the destruction of the political and

  • 7. Cause Of Terrorism Essay People use terrorism to cause a sense of fear in a group of people and to make a clear stand on how they feel about a certain topic. Terrorism first became apparent during the French Revolution in the 1790s (Jenkins, 2017). This time era, known as the Reign of Terror, carried out mass killings of innocent civilians by a torture device called the guillotine (Jenkins, 2017). Since this time, terrorism has become more prominent all over the world. Presently, terrorism shows a clear political standing within a certain group of people. Terrorism is an ongoing problem that the world faces today. Many different examples of terrorism have happened in the world. One of the most well–known terrorist attacks happened on September 11, 2001, at the ...show more content... This group called themselves the Islamic State or better known as ISIS. The article addresses that "Islamic terrorists are the most notorious of today's violent radicals..." (Morgan, 2004). A few of the major attacks that ISIS has coordinated in the last couple of years have occurred in Paris, France. The first attack, carried out on January 7, 2015, happened at a location of a magazine shop called the Charlie Hebdo. Two Islamic terrorists entered the shop located in Paris and killed eleven people, including the editor (Ray, 2016). Little did Paris know that it was the first of many deadly assaults (Ray, 2016). Months after the deadly offense took place, another planned attack took place. On August 21, 2015, an ISIS accomplice boarded the train carrying an AK–47 assault rifle, a pistol, and many rounds of ammunition with the intent to kill. Luckily, the passengers on board the train were able to render the man incapable of doing what he set out to do. Two of the men that helped take the man down acted as off–duty U.S. military members vacationing in France (Ray, 2016). A few months later, the terrorist attacks increased in the city, causing devastation for the entire country. On November 13, 2015, multiple attacks aroused all over the city (Ray, 2016). At the Stade de France, France and Germany participated in a soccer match where France's president, FranГ§ois Hollande, was in attendance. A suicide bomber attempted to enter the stadium when Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Terrorism In Terrorism Terrorism is certainly nothing new, it is an unfortunate reality that often leads to violence, and is not likely to stop in the future. With modern technology, carrying out these often–bloody attacks may not have become any easier, but has certainly allowed the groups that carry out these attacks to become more effective at reaching their goal. Using the media, terrorists and/or insurgencies can leverage television and the internet to spread a message that they are both serious, and that their cause is justified. Terrorist organizations use the media to spread their message to others, to convince others that their cause is justified, to show the world what they can do, and that they should be taken seriously. In Gordon H. McCormick's article "Terrorist Decision Making" he mentions several quotes by Karl Heinzen, whom he refers to as a "radical German publicist. Heinzen believed that with the State having the ultimate advantage over the revolutionist, "murder [...] must be turned into a science" by those operating against the state, to have a chance. Although Heinzen did not realize it during his life, the "science" of murder he spoke about would later include using the media, to inflict the maximum effect, with the smallest cost on the side of the terrorist organization. One example of terrorists using the media to leverage their position is mentioned in Boaz Ganor's contribution to. In Chapter 16 of "The Routledge History of Terrorism", Boaz Ganor describes a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Militaries Role In Combating Terrorism Terrorism Terrorism...This is a very common word in today's society. What does it mean? Or more importantly how do "we" prevent it and if necessary combat it? The word most commonly used to explain this is counter terrorism, but is also known as anti–terrorism. The military is a great force in combating terrorism with specialist groups in nearly each branch of the armed forces. Prior to the September 11 attacks the United States Armed Forces worked hand in hand with NATO and the United Nations combating terror. However after these attacks, the United States Military has become a widely utilized entity on fighting terrorism. Before even discussing anything about terrorism you have to have a broad understand of what it is. The...show more content... What few people understand is that terrorist groups are very organized and one unit of the cell can have no idea who the members of another unit are. In other words two people can be working for the same cause, in the same organization pass each other on the street and have no idea who each other are. This is to set up a lack of information chain. One cell will only know their part. If they were to be captured they could not give information about the other cells in their organization. This is one of the reasons it is so hard to combat terrorism and why using the military is so controversial. What is the militaries role in combating terrorism? How do you fight something with guns that is so broad and complex? It seems that the militaries current role is to capture known terrorists and to kill anyone that poses a threat. However it is much more complex then it appears. Each branch has a role in combating terrorism, some more advertised than others. Not only does each branch work by itself but they also work together and with other countries. When working as their own entities they still work together. For Example currently in Iraq, the United States Army is working on their own set of missions and the same with the Marines. However the missions the Army and Marine forces accomplish work to accomplish the goals for their country. So in a sense the not one branch will ever work completely alone. • 10. Terrorism : Terrorism And Terrorism With every terrorist attack executed, people like to blame the terrorists for attacking and causing fear and death in the world. Yes, those terrorists hold responsibility for those deaths, but the common people of the world in addition to the leaders of the world, also hold responsibility for allowing terrorism to be successful and continue. Terrorists gain power through the common, innocent people they attack. How the world responds to terrorist attacks determines whether or not terrorism will cease. The common people's response to terrorism, the interest of the state, and the media's role in terrorism all aide to terrorism's success and its continuation in the future. How people willingly choose to respond to terrorist attacks defines terrorism and determines if terrorism will continue. For example, after the 9/11 attacks occurred, some Americans began to grieve while others began to act on their anger. Police claim that "nearly 600 incidents in the first 10 days after the attacks" occurred due to people erupting with rage (History.com Staff). A Pakistani grocery man was killed in Texas (History.com Staff). A man in Arizona shot an Indian gas station owner because he was on an anti –Arab rampage (History.com Staff). • 12. The Ethical Implications Of Terrorism Terrorism has been a detrimental issue in our society and, in direct response to the threat, the intelligence community started to use a tactic that proved, to some, to be divisive and controversial: torture. They believed that in order to protect their constituencies and countries they felt that torture, kept relatively private, would effectively root out terrorism and the strategies that they employ. However, as with anything in the age of the Internet, nothing stays quiet for long and many human rights groups have taken an opposition to the use of torture. This has increasingly become more and more controversial of an activity and thus we need to start to look at the ethical implications of torture and how that impacts the future of counter–terrorism and intelligence gathering. Before we delve into ethics we need to set up a base knowledge by looking at the historical implications of torture, how it has evolved, and where that leaves us today. Following that the paper will head towards how torture is used and how effective it is. Finally, after understanding these first, key points we will begin to dive into how utilizing torture does, or does not, affect our ethics. Now, we move towards the history behind torturing terrorism. As is normally an upstanding practice in any research attempt, the history behind utilizing torture as a tactic against terrorism has to be examined before moving on to look at the other aspects behind these actions. • 13. Essay on Solutions for Terrorism Terrorism is a controversial issue which spans the globe, Terrorism is defined as using force to influence or change a political decision. This is a relevant definition which can easily be related to in this day and age. There are many ideas about how to deal with this menacing threat one being a diplomatic solution some believe that the United Nations (UN) should step in and resolve it peacefully. Others oppose this idea and believe that the only solution is violence. Many up hold the idea of violence and that joint North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) and special forces operations should tackle the threat head on The history of terrorism can be traced back as far as the French revolution and Guy Fawkes. These acts of terrorism...show more content... One possible solution to preventing further blood shed is simple diplomacy. This theory is to meet the terrorists' masterminds on common ground. Whether the terrorists may simply be paid to disappear or sign a ceasefire, treaty or some sort of amnesty has not yet been out lined to the public but the United Nations must be searching for a peaceful resolve without a major loss of civilian or military life. I believe that a diplomatic solution will never permanently abolish terrorism or postpone it in any way. In my opinion modern day terrorists are simply too radical to sign any kind of diplomatic contract with the western world that will not allow them to practice or express their believes. A more realistic campaign to end terrorism would be one of military, NATO and special forces campaigns across the middle –east and Asia. The assassination of leaders and masterminds and a crack down of people and political leaders that publicly express their support for bombings and public demise. Also organisations and entrepreneurs which secretly fund terrorist campaigns and weapon funds should be detained and prosecuted. This solution to terrorism is greatly opposed by many government officals and the public alike. Although many would like to think that there is a diplomatic solution the harsh truth is that there isn't. • 14. Stopping Terrorism Worldwide Essay Can We Stop the Worldwide Disease–Terrorism? Terrorism, which has been around for as long as people can remember, has been on the rise for the past ten years. Terrorists usually use murdering, kidnapping, hi–jacking and bombings to achieve their political purpose. For instance, according to Wikipedia.com (2006), in 1985 816 deaths, then in 2003, more than 1,000 people died by terorist acts around the world. In recent years, terrorism seems to be at a new height and attacks are much more violent than in the past. Unfortunately, in spite of many anti–terror campaigns, projects and organizations are being created for prevention (to prevent) terrorism, the number of terrorists only is increasing. Many innocent people were killed during the terrorists attempt to take control over the government of (maybe in) Andijan. As the President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov said (Uzbek Nation Will Never Depend on Others, 2005), the executors of that terror act were the members of, so–called, Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan. Their primary goal was to set Caliphate in Uzbekistan, which would have made Uzbekistan an Islamic Republic and led to put dot in Uzbekistan's development, especially in economy growth. Also, there are some other reasons for terrorist acts such as: hate towards a race, nationality, or religion. The following example contains all reasons listed above. Another international terror group Al–Qaeda, number one terror group with a multimillionaire leader Osama Ben Laden, carried out a terror attack in 2001, in USA. Referring to Wikipedia.com (2006), terrorists hijacked four commercial airplanes and crashed two of them into World Trade Centre, in Manhattan. The other one crashed to US Pentagon, and fourth crashed in rural place in Pennsylvania. It took about 2,986 lives of innocent people, including 19 hijackers, and more than 40 000 people were injured. In both examples mentioned above, there are exact motivating factors. In both cases the motivating factors are ideology and religion. But there are also many other factors which make people become terrorists and take guns in their hands or blow themselves Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Terrorism As A Crime, Or Terrorism Essay Terrorism as warfare, terrorism as a crime, or terrorism as a disease. Whichever view is adopted is determined by the kinds of countermeasures countries will use in their efforts to deal with terrorism. Definitions of terrorism are diverse and commentators and scholars tend to disagree on which is the most accurate. This usually occurs because the different types of terrorism are so widespread, and some experts will include or exclude various groups depending on their preferences. Terrorism is a special form of violence, where a group aims to compel another's actions through the use of fear with the aim of forcing it to modify its behaviours. This essay will develop and defend this particular definition of terrorism and look at the psychological tactics that terrorists use to spread fear through violence. Since 1994, the United Nations General Assembly has condemned terrorist actions by stating, "Criminal acts intended or calculated to provoke a state of terror in the general public, a group of persons or particular persons for political purposes are in any circumstance unjustifiable, whatever the considerations of a political, philosophical, ideological, racial, ethnic, religious or any other nature that may be invoked to justify them" (U.N.G.A., 2014; Schmid, 2011). The concept of terrorism goes back much further than that, however. That subject is terrorism and what it has done to the world. My personal opinion is that terrorism is something that is causing havoc in this place called earth and it should stopped before it gets out of our hands. The word terrorism in the English dictionary means "violent action for political purposes." This is the proper definition but my definition differs a little. Just before midnight on Saturday, Oct. 12, as people from across the globe danced at the Sari, a popular nightclub on the Indonesian resort island of Bali, a car parked outside–and packed with explosives–blew up. The most recent form of terrorism was when 2 terrorists entered a Hindu place of worship and with ease killed 33 innocent victims and injuring many more. This was the most hurtful act of terrorism for me as this Hindu place of worship was where I have prayed before and it was my religious building that got attacked. Fortunately, these 2 terrorists were brought to justice and killed. Due to the acts of terrorism security has been tightened all over the world but yet terrorists find ways of breaking into other countries and causing havoc. Security has been tightened in airports, buildings and even religious places of worship have got to grips with the true meaning of security. Many people i.e. terrorists, think that what they do is for the best and this was what the god Allah has said they have to do. They believe that Americagot what they deserved and there is still more to come. They are trying to make themselves the biggest and baddest people around trying to make everyone respect them. They are trying to build up a reputation and get world publicity but they are going the wrong way about it. Terrorist

  • 20. A Study Of Terrorism And The Terrorist The study of terrorism and the terrorist is not something belonging to any particular discipline. What does forensic psychology have to offer? In the present political climate terrorism is a grave and growing concern for the national security of many countries. While it is important to acknowledge that acts of terrorism date back through centuries of recorded history, it is nevertheless apparent that today, the threat of terrorism is as dire, if not more so, than ever before. Terrorism dominates public and media attention compared to other types of violent offending (Ruby, 2002b), and 9/11 and the 7/7 London bombings have demonstrated the devastating capabilities attributable to successful terrorist acts. Thus, understanding terrorism and 'what makes someone a terrorist', with a view to predicting terrorist attacks and behaviour, is a concern shared by many domains, including forensic psychology (FP), criminology and political science. While Borum (2004) notes that FP does not provide the sole analytic framework with which to understand terrorism, it is important to recognise the contributions FP has made, and is still making, to the subject. Therefore, the present essay will discuss what FP has to offer in the study of terrorism with reference to past, present and potential directions for future research. Contributions of Forensic Psychology FP focuses on terrorism from an individual perspective. As Taylor points out: "individuals commit terrorist acts" (Taylor, 2012, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

There may be some Muslims who are terrorists, but not all Muslims are terrorist and Islam as a religion does not promote terrorism and defines as a religion of peace. Islam means submission to god. Islam is a religion of peace and does not talk of doing violence at all. As many westerners have the misconception that all Muslims are terrorists, and are involved in the killing of innocent people. There have been terrorist attacks since the early nineties, but the deadliest attacks that are happening against United States are linked to Al–Qaeda and all Muslims are stereotyped as terrorists by the westerners with no proof. If what happened on 9/11 was terrorism then so is the violence in Iraq and most recently in Lebanon. According to me, both Islam and Christianity are great religions and both promote peace, and who ever is involved in killing innocent people does not follow any religion."All Muslims may not be terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims."(Aiyer 23) This comment, frequently heard after the Mumbai bomb blasts implies that terrorism is a Muslim specialty, if not a monopoly. Muslims are actively committing acts of terrorism in many parts of the world and justifying it by pointing towards the Koran. Even the west is not untouched anymore. Thirty new terrorist organizations have emerged since the September 11 attacks, outpacing the United States' efforts to crush the threat. Recently, a court in Paris sentenced 25 Muslims militants for planning attacks against the Eiffel Tower and other targets with explosives. All indications suggests that Islamists were the perpetrators. One of my American friends Get more content on HelpWriting.net
