Love is the commitment that two people share. Jarold Ramsey's poem "The Tally Stick" is a great example of the commitment that two people share.
The speaker says, "Here from the start, from our first days, look: / I have carved our lives in secret on this stick" (1–2). Starting with their marriage, the
first notch is "Near the butt, this intricate notch where the grains / converge and join: it is our wedding" (6–7). The couple uses the stick as a symbol
of their love for each other. The stick symbolizes how committed they are in their relationship. Love is a commitment one makes to put someone's
wishes, desires and needs above all. What if the husband or wife became ill or cannot take care of him or herself anymore? Or perhaps the spouse
got orders to go to Iraq, or maybe the spouse got a job offer in another state. What will happen to the life that is shared? Does the spouse give up and

China did not tell anyone about the baby except Jeremy. They went to two different colleges and that they would deal with the baby when it was
time for China to give birth. When China's water broke she called Jeremy and they went to a motel. Jeremy delivered the baby girl and China told
him to "get rid of it" so he threw the baby in the dumpster outside (Boyle 387). They left the motel and went back to the college as if nothing ever
happened. The police came the next morning and arrested both China and Jeremy. China and her parents decided to place the blame on Jeremy by
allowing everyone to think that China had believed she had miscarried, and Jeremy acted alone on dumping the breathing child into the dumpster. This
enormous problem eventually led to the downfall of China and Jeremy's relationship.
Boyle gets his ideas for his stories in many different ways, some can be from him just walking down the street and an idea pops into his head,
others ideas come when he is watching television or reading a book. Boyle got the idea to write "The Love of My Life" from a case he read in the
newspaper (After). The case was about a murder investigation involving Amy S. Grossberg and Brian C. Peterson for the murder of their new born
baby boy. Grossberg delivered the baby at a Comfort Inn in Newark, Delaware, in November 1996 ("Amy"). Grossberg was assisted by her boyfriend

Through this sonnet, Shakespeare tries to define what the phenomenon of Love is all about, by first stating what it isn't, then asserting what it is.
He starts with rejecting the marriage done for logical and sensible reasons stating that there are too many obstructions in the path of such relationships.
He then condemns the love which changes with the changing circumstances of life, or ends with death, claiming that that isn't true love. Comparing it

The first of these is alliteration which is immediately clear in the first line itself: the repetition of the letter "m" and "t" in "me not to the marriage
of true minds" gives the line an internal rhythm. Love is personified several times throughout the sonnet: it isn't something which can change or
end, it is constant and solid, it faces "tempests" and is "never shaken." All these instances of attributing the qualities of a person to a mere emotion,
serve their purpose in making the Bard's message clear, that love is never ending. One also finds Time to be personified "Love is not Time's fool."
This description paints Time as a puppeteer who plays around with everything, controlling everyone, and changing things on a whim, which is a
repeating idea in many of Shakespeare's other sonnets plays and poems. Yet love is set apart from the rest of all the emotions that one feels: it is
something which Time can exercise no right over, as it is independent of all sorts of manipulations. Visual imagery is then evoked to further
