Essay on I Am Sam
I Am Sam is the compelling story of Sam Dawson (Sean Penn), a mentally–challenged father raising his daughter Lucy (Dakota Fanning) with the help
of an extraordinary group of friends. As Lucy turns seven and begins to intellectually surpass her father, their close bond is threatened when their
situation comes under the scrutiny of a social worker who wants Lucy placed in foster care.
Faced with a seemingly unwinnable case, Sam vows to fight the legal system and forms an unlikely alliance with Rita Harrison (Michelle Pfeiffer), a
high–powered, self–absorbed attorney who initially takes his case pro bona as a challenge from her colleagues. On the surface the two couldn't be
further apart, but in reality they are subtly similar. Sam's...show more content...
I Am Sam (rated PG–13 by the M.P.A.A. for "language") will be released in Los Angeles and New York on December 28th, 2001 and wide on January
25th, 2002.
about the story
I Am Sam is a powerful, emotional film about love, parenthood and the bonds of family. "I'm fascinated by what makes a family and how people
create that in untraditional ways," says director and co–screenwriter Jessie Nelson. "I think all parents at times feel confused and overwhelmed. It is a
common bond between every parent on the planet, whether you're disabled or not. Parents who are disabled provide a unique metaphor for how we're
all trying to get through an incredibly challenging world and how we all ultimately need some type of support system."
Raising a child is never easy, but like everybody, Sam Dawson (Academy Award nominee Sean Penn) has learned to adapt. Sam and his daughter Lucy
(Dakota Fanning) have gotten through the basics, though not always in the conventional way, with the help of Sam's tightly–knit group of friends.
Though Lucy's life has never been what anyone would ever call "normal," it has always been animated with humor and full of love.
"Lucy and her dad go to IHOP on Wednesday, video night on Thursday, karaoke night on Friday," says Dakota Fanning, the 7
–year old newcomer who
plays Lucy Diamond. "They just have the best time together."
But when Lucy

Who Are You As A Writer? Essay
When presented with the question, "who are you as a writer?", I was speechless at first. But after thinking about it, I realized who I am as a writer
has been influenced by so many different sponsors throughout my life and there was not a short, concrete answer. Brandt mentions that "literacy
is sponsored by people, institutions, and circumstances that both make it possible for a person to become literate and shape the way the person
actually acquires literacy." (Brandt 43) My attitude towards writing has been influenced by teachers, both negatively and positively, by my
mother, and by academic assignments over the years. My answer to the question can only be answered by a narrative of my writing life. I have
convinced myself that I am a terrible writer, and when presented with a writing assignment, I get anxious instantly. I see writing as a burden and a
huge obstacle that gets placed in my life. Academic writing is not fun, but something I value due to the fact that we are a grade driven society.
When writing, I write to the guidelines in order to receive points for the requested criteria. The reason being, I gave up on expressing my own ideas
because I had been shut down by so many teachers throughout my education. I tried to write down what came to my mind and put my own twist on
things, but that was not the "right" way to write papers. In order to make both my teachers and my grades happy, I wrote what they wanted to hear, and
even then I was not to the level they

I Am Proud of Who I Am Essay
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "To be yourself in a world that is trying to make you something else is a great accomplishment". Who am I? is
question that many often struggle to answer, but for me it allows me to differentiate from my constituents and express who I really am. What makes
me such a unique individual is my ability to identify with 5 strong strengths. I love the fact that I am futuristic and I have the ability to relate, I am
responsible, I am a developer and last but not least I am disciplined. Each one these themes shape and generate my personality. Born on February 22nd

Whenever I set a goal, I first ask myself is the goal realistic and reachable and secondly if I am willing to make changes in my life to reach those goals.
While I have several goals there are a few that are imperative to reach. One of them being a counseling center for underprivileged girls ages K–12. As a
victim and an advocate for bullying I want to highlight the situation and teach the girls how to detect signs and how to deal with a bully. I had my
parents to help me but my goal is to target those that don't necessarily receive that attention at home. Self esteem will also is a big topic
surrounding girls in that age group I want to teach them about positive body image and the importance of loving yourself. Obtaining my Ph.D. is
another meaningful goal I intend to achieve; with myself being the first generation from my family to attend a major university I feel the need to
reach my highest potential. Setting big goals, taking small steps and being focused in my pursuit I know I will achieve all I set my mind to. The
definition of a relator is someone who is especially talented in enjoying close relationships with others. They find deep satisfaction in working hard
with friends to achieve a goal. When I look back and reflect on personal influences in my life, no one has made a greater impact than those of my
parents. All I am I owe to my

At the beginning of this course, I kept calling it a "therapy" course. I was under the impression I was going to come out of the class a better person
who has taken the time to make changes and reflect. However, as the course progressed I recognized that the class is what you put into it. The class
wasn't going to change me by doing these activities, but it was how these activities challenged me shift my priorities and simply become more aware.
The only change that was going to be made was if I saw the need for it and I was committed. I think the course overall encouraged us, the students, to
become more self–aware in many different aspects of our lives. In my case, I think I gained the most from the constant discussion of the importance of
reflection and consciousness. Although, we focused on certain topics throughout the semester like time management, diet, and gender issues; I think
the main objective was to improve my connection with myself and to realize my own potential. I believe that each person should gain something
different by the end of the semester because the discussions and activities all have a varying affects. I assume that the level of immersion from students
differed depending on the activity and how the student determined its importance. However, I would think that everyone in class, including myself, is
able to be more open, honest, and truthful with myself. Additionally, I think this course emphasized the importance for students to always strive to

I Am Nobody Who Are You Essay
"I am nobody! Who are you?" (Dickinson, 2013, line 1). A very famous but quite controversial line from the poem written by author, Emily
Dickinson. Many say she writes her poems using her thoughts, others think that she writes about her friends feelings. Quite intriguing, based on
what her poems are written about. Given the fact that Emily herself faced many tragedies in her life, including the death of most of her immediate
family and a best friend, and also faced many health issues herself, it isn't much of a wonder that when it came down to religion, she didn't really
have an opinion. But, did she make this known in her poems? Did she try to voice her opinion, with an explanation of why she felt this way? And
is she really as complicated as readers think? In the poem, "There's a certain slant of light", many religious references have been used. This poem
specifically focuses only on the significant effect of a certain type of light that the narrator / speaker notices on winter evenings. But, this poem is not
going to be a pleasant one, because this light is very heavy and it "oppresses" the speaker....show more content...
This poem resolves to be that in the end it is so powerful, that everything, including nature herself, notices its presence, and then ends with a departure
that allows for a complete but terrifying understanding of death and remorse. This poem completely sums up Emily Dickinson. This poem, along
with almost every other poem of Emily's, share the same and obvious theme: Death and weirdness about anything religions. By using religious items
and well known subjects relating to God and Heaven, she gives off a purely negative vibe to anyone who reads her poems. But in this particular poem,
the "certain Slant of light" may be oppressive to the narrator but this is definitely not an ordinary case of

Who Am I Am Essay
PASSport Essay #1 The question "who am I"? Can have a lot of individuals thinking about themselves, including myself because one might not
know where to start. It is a very broad question, but having done the Strengths Finder 2.0 assessment, I realized more in depth what kind of person I
really am based on my top 5 strengths. Who I am as a learner, who I am in my career and who I am as a person of faith lead me to answering the
question above and understanding more of myself within. First off, who I am as a learner has changed over the past years. At times before, I wouldn't
take certain classes or assignments seriously and have learned my lessons when I failed. I believe having classmates at the time who weren't as
focused as I wanted to be, played a big role in my lack of understanding in classes. I understood later that if I felt learning was so important to me, I
need to realize that it is my future and I needed to focus on my own. Having learner in my top 5 strengths defines me very well. Rath (2007)
explains that, "The process, more than the content or the result, is especially exciting for you" (p.133). I believe this defines me as a learner
because I enjoy having books in hand, opening up my notebook to write notes and learning new ways to understand the class. Regardless if the
content is something I have to get in to or if I don't do well on tests, I enjoy the process of studying and learning more even when I know I didn't do
so well; that is what motivates me. I believe as long as I keep this mindset and understand that this is my strength, I will continue to grow and
further my education as much as possible. Even though I have failed a few of my last classes, I never let that stop me from continuing. Knowing
that I have "failed" makes me realize I know I can do better and I try my hardest not to let it get me down. I will not get further if I don't keep trying
and as a learner I am a motivator to myself in my studies. When it comes to who I am in my career, a few of my strengths shine through more than
others. For example, I put everything I have in to my work and into my career, and looking back at how I've worked in the past compared to now, I
see my strengths restorative and developer.

I Am A Teacher?
I am going to be a teacher because God has chosen clearly to use me to teach children and youth to become men and women of God. God has not
only gifted me in ways that trace back to a life of teaching, but has shaped my life to prepare for teaching. I was never formally asked to be a teacher. I
actually never really wanted to be a teacher during my childhood. I saw it as a taboo profession and didn 't want to be like my teachers, thus creating
a bias against teaching in general. However, as I began to grow up and become a christian, my motives and desires changed to glorifying and serving.
One of the skills that God has given me is the ability to talk to anybody in near every situation. I feel a special feeling from God when he wants me
to speak to someone, and when I do, I can feel God 's presence in the conversation. He has given me a tongue that has great ability to persuade and
proclaim the truth of the Gospel. When I talk to students at Tidings of Peace Christian School, they listen to what I say. This ability goes beyond just

Who I Am Essay
Who I am right now is because of the many people, memories, moments, and emotions I have seen and felt. Each of these things defining me and
shaping me into the person I am today, and setting me up for the person I will become tomorrow. It's been nothing short of a beautiful, but yet rocky
roller coaster ride. There have been times I have felt happiness and laughter, and times I have endured hardship and sadness, but it has only allowed
me to become the best possible version of myself. This is who I am.
One of the most important people in my life, is my brother. He is the best brother you could ever ask for, but yet he brings along great challenges, not
just for himself or my family, but for me the most. I fully understood when I was about 12 years old, that my brother had disabilities, meaning he
was different. He was going to face many challenges and not be able to do things that many people get to do. Things like drive a car, or go to
college. As his brother, I felt that he was my responsibility the most, and the moment my mom told me about his condition, it changed my life. Not
for the worst, but for the better, because in that instant, I knew I was going to have to work twice as hard in school and outside of school, so that I
could become a successful person, and be able to support him, when my parents could no longer. If I gave up in life, and lost hope, it would not only
affect me, but my brother, so he will always keep me going and keep me motivated. Not only was I

Who Am I?
Today as I look back at the first paper that I wrote for this class, I see that it is not the type of paper that I usually write. It is not full of big,
sophisticated words. Rather it is a paper that does what it is supposed to, explain in simple english my thoughts on the subject. Those thoughts are that
today most college kids are whiners and students go to college because it is the norm. I also gave a couple of abstracts to these. I never really took a
stand as to which of those pertained to me. But I think that they all do in a sense. In a way I am irresponsible. I leave stuff to the last minute, I cram,

Quite the contrary. It's just like style. At school my approach to work is very different than when I am at my summer job. At school I can slack and

worst thing is, I don't even know.
Who am I? What is the relationship between my self and the self that I portray, if there is a difference? I am I, or am I? What follows is the first to

Beating with life you promised life, security, happiness. Unfortunate son cornered, cowering in the pit of circling panes of glass that surround and

I just finished listening to this song and it gave me insight on my present dilemma. I think that these verse say that on the outside, when he looks into
the glass, he doesn't see what he wants to see. So he lifted the mask. But then he rethought this maneuver, do I really want everyone to know who I

The Things That Make Me Who I Am Essay
The Things that Make Me Who I am Everyone goes through life and has a number of things that they feel are important to them and their lives.
Within all of those things there are one or two things that are at the top of that list; the things that are thought to be the most important to their
lives. The same is for me, I have an entire list of things that I feel are important but there are two things that make my life how it is today. These
two things for me are my family and the choices I have made that I believe will bring success to my future. One thing that I have learned
throughout my life that I feel is one of the most important points to remember is that without your family you have nothing. That is the reason why
I feel that my family is so important and one of the factors of who I have become. All of the achievements that I have accomplished throughout my
life would not have been possible without my parents. They have given me endless opportunities to reach my goals, try new things, and experience
so much that the world has to offer. My two older sisters and I all have grown up playing multiple sports and each of us had the dream of
participating in college athletics. Like I said previously, without my parents taking us to the endless practices and tournaments I don't think the three
of us would be where we are today. All three of us are getting the chance to go to college to earn a degree and to have the chance to play the sports we
love. Going along with that,

I Am By Tom Shadyac Essay
The "I AM documentary" by Tom Shadyac questions people about the wrongs happening in the World and what could one do to make it right? The
documentary helps one discover more than just the mere two questions posed in the beginning. One learns about how human emotion, heart, brain,
society etc. together create an impact in today's world or society. In my opinion, I agree with what I AM documentary had to share with the world.
We often question the existence of many things and try to figure out what is wrong in a given scenario. We tend to forget that instead of seeking for
the problems in the world one should seek happiness and positivity, as these emotions leave a great impact on people. It is often heard that people are

documentary too, Tom discovers that Heart is the primary intelligence and not the brain and human emotion can influence human behavior. Also,
contrary to the conventional thinking, cooperation may be nature's fundamental operating principle and decision making is a norm among many
species. Any step a person take is backed up by a valid reason, whether it is choosing a university or a pet dog. And all through this process they seek
advice and cooperate with many others who may be guidable to them. In addition to this most of the discovery made by Tom through this documentary

I Am A Hard Working And Dedicated Student
In daily life the term personality is very freely used by people with different meanings. Some people refer to the physical appearance like height,
weight, color, body built, dress, voice, etc. Some other people refer to intellectual qualities like intelligence, activeness, way of speech, thinking
and reasoning abilities, etc. However our psychological definitions tell us that personality refers to individual differences in characteristic patterns
of thinking, feeling and behaving. The study of personality focuses on two broad areas: One is understanding individual differences in particular
personality characteristics, such as sociability or irritability. The other is understanding how the various parts of a person come together as a
whole. Emotions are the intense feelings that are directed at someone or something. I have never thought of what my personality is, so when i

'I Am' by John Clare (Poem Analysis) Essay
"I Am" is a poem that was written by John Clare during the 1840s. Clare's rustic poetry had brought him considerable fame and wealth, which enabled
him to escape the meagre life he had experienced up until that time. After some years, his rural style of poetry was no longer in fashion, and his poetry
met with little success. Psychological pressures resulting from the need to make money to feed his family, the struggles to adapt his poetry to the
changing times and his inability to reconcile his rural neighbourhood with urban London which his fame had acquainted him with, took its toll on his
sanity, and led to spells in two different asylums. The poem revolves around circumstances surrounding Clare at the time, and his entire life.

He tells the readers that he has been left behind, forgotten and abandoned to the point where he feels like he must announce his presence to the world
and wishes others would acknowledge him. The friends Clare did have most likely didn't care much for him being institutionalized, therefore causing
him to speak of his friends in such a pessimistic manner. He then states that there was no one to help to ease his pain in the third and fourth lines of the
first stanza: "I am the self–consumer of my woes, they rise and vanish in oblivious host," he makes reference to his insanity in the phrase "oblivious
host" which hints that he is usually unaware of the happenings occurring about him because of his mental health.
The use of the phrase "I am" acts as a reinforcement of his identity, as though he is addressing doubts to his existence, he continuously uses rhetorical
questions to ask himself about the world and everything that is happening outside his confinement. Clare speaks as though he has been left behind by
those who once knew him as a full and complete person and as a man of fame and fortune. He feels disappointed to be left out and forgotten about, he
suspects that something is wrong with him and wants someone to tell him the problem. He has given up on himself and feels despaired: "And yet I

I Am A Teacher? Essay
Why am I a teacher? When I was a child I always had to pretend play school with my friends and I always had to be the teacher. My mom was a

rural town with very little diversity. I attended schools in the Lowell Area School District from kindergarten through 12th grade. As I sit and reflect on
my elementary school years, I have many happy memories. I had positive relationships with many of my teachers; especially in my K–4 years. Mrs.
Pomper always made me feel welcomed and always greet me with a smile. Mrs. Sterly taught me to read and Mrs. Ham always had confidence in me.
These are three of my teachers in my early years I will never forget. My grades were good and I was motivated to try my best in everything I did in

The next day after school, I went to Annex to accepted training. I was so excited when I saw the strange room. Lots of book in here are I never seen

knowledge like a sponge. It was no surprise then, to my mother, although it was to me, when I scored in the 90th percentile or higher in nearly every
subject on the California test of basic skills.
Strangely enough, my intelligence and love for knowledge never set me apart from my peers. They either didn't know or didn't care, and I was
satisfied enough with my social position to not want to change their apathetic status toward my abilities. In junior high school, I took pleasure in
peaceably "blending into" my environment. I became, for all practical purposes, as much of a clone as possible without compromising my beliefs or
personality.
True, I was a bit odd naturally. So was everyone else. I had belief systems that didn't fit the typical intermediate–school kid norm. Everyone else just
happened to possess those same beliefs. Maybe it was just a strange school, but I was perfectly happy to sit back in my group of eight girls and be
typical. I had crushes, faked heartbreak, and passed through life without making a wave. This was the happiest, calmest, most "normal" time of my
life. My grades were exceptional, I was in advanced

Essay On I Am Sam

  • 1. Essay on I Am Sam I Am Sam is the compelling story of Sam Dawson (Sean Penn), a mentally–challenged father raising his daughter Lucy (Dakota Fanning) with the help of an extraordinary group of friends. As Lucy turns seven and begins to intellectually surpass her father, their close bond is threatened when their situation comes under the scrutiny of a social worker who wants Lucy placed in foster care. Faced with a seemingly unwinnable case, Sam vows to fight the legal system and forms an unlikely alliance with Rita Harrison (Michelle Pfeiffer), a high–powered, self–absorbed attorney who initially takes his case pro bona as a challenge from her colleagues. On the surface the two couldn't be further apart, but in reality they are subtly similar. Sam's...show more content... I Am Sam (rated PG–13 by the M.P.A.A. for "language") will be released in Los Angeles and New York on December 28th, 2001 and wide on January 25th, 2002. about the story I Am Sam is a powerful, emotional film about love, parenthood and the bonds of family. "I'm fascinated by what makes a family and how people create that in untraditional ways," says director and co–screenwriter Jessie Nelson. "I think all parents at times feel confused and overwhelmed. It is a common bond between every parent on the planet, whether you're disabled or not. Parents who are disabled provide a unique metaphor for how we're all trying to get through an incredibly challenging world and how we all ultimately need some type of support system." Raising a child is never easy, but like everybody, Sam Dawson (Academy Award nominee Sean Penn) has learned to adapt. Sam and his daughter Lucy (Dakota Fanning) have gotten through the basics, though not always in the conventional way, with the help of Sam's tightly–knit group of friends. Though Lucy's life has never been what anyone would ever call "normal," it has always been animated with humor and full of love. "Lucy and her dad go to IHOP on Wednesday, video night on Thursday, karaoke night on Friday," says Dakota Fanning, the 7 –year old newcomer who plays Lucy Diamond. "They just have the best time together." But when Lucy

  • 3. Who Are You As A Writer? Essay When presented with the question, "who are you as a writer?", I was speechless at first. But after thinking about it, I realized who I am as a writer has been influenced by so many different sponsors throughout my life and there was not a short, concrete answer. Brandt mentions that "literacy is sponsored by people, institutions, and circumstances that both make it possible for a person to become literate and shape the way the person actually acquires literacy." (Brandt 43) My attitude towards writing has been influenced by teachers, both negatively and positively, by my mother, and by academic assignments over the years. My answer to the question can only be answered by a narrative of my writing life. I have convinced myself that I am a terrible writer, and when presented with a writing assignment, I get anxious instantly. I see writing as a burden and a huge obstacle that gets placed in my life. Academic writing is not fun, but something I value due to the fact that we are a grade driven society. When writing, I write to the guidelines in order to receive points for the requested criteria. The reason being, I gave up on expressing my own ideas because I had been shut down by so many teachers throughout my education. I tried to write down what came to my mind and put my own twist on things, but that was not the "right" way to write papers. In order to make both my teachers and my grades happy, I wrote what they wanted to hear, and even then I was not to the level they Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. I Am Proud of Who I Am Essay Ralph Waldo Emerson once said "To be yourself in a world that is trying to make you something else is a great accomplishment". Who am I? is question that many often struggle to answer, but for me it allows me to differentiate from my constituents and express who I really am. What makes me such a unique individual is my ability to identify with 5 strong strengths. I love the fact that I am futuristic and I have the ability to relate, I am responsible, I am a developer and last but not least I am disciplined. Each one these themes shape and generate my personality. Born on February 22nd 2000 I am the only daughter to Rob and Theresa Jones. When I'm not roaming the illustrious campus of State University, I enjoy shopping I personally feel...show more content... Whenever I set a goal, I first ask myself is the goal realistic and reachable and secondly if I am willing to make changes in my life to reach those goals. While I have several goals there are a few that are imperative to reach. One of them being a counseling center for underprivileged girls ages K–12. As a victim and an advocate for bullying I want to highlight the situation and teach the girls how to detect signs and how to deal with a bully. I had my parents to help me but my goal is to target those that don't necessarily receive that attention at home. Self esteem will also is a big topic surrounding girls in that age group I want to teach them about positive body image and the importance of loving yourself. Obtaining my Ph.D. is another meaningful goal I intend to achieve; with myself being the first generation from my family to attend a major university I feel the need to reach my highest potential. Setting big goals, taking small steps and being focused in my pursuit I know I will achieve all I set my mind to. The definition of a relator is someone who is especially talented in enjoying close relationships with others. They find deep satisfaction in working hard with friends to achieve a goal. When I look back and reflect on personal influences in my life, no one has made a greater impact than those of my parents. All I am I owe to my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. At the beginning of this course, I kept calling it a "therapy" course. I was under the impression I was going to come out of the class a better person who has taken the time to make changes and reflect. However, as the course progressed I recognized that the class is what you put into it. The class wasn't going to change me by doing these activities, but it was how these activities challenged me shift my priorities and simply become more aware. The only change that was going to be made was if I saw the need for it and I was committed. I think the course overall encouraged us, the students, to become more self–aware in many different aspects of our lives. In my case, I think I gained the most from the constant discussion of the importance of reflection and consciousness. Although, we focused on certain topics throughout the semester like time management, diet, and gender issues; I think the main objective was to improve my connection with myself and to realize my own potential. I believe that each person should gain something different by the end of the semester because the discussions and activities all have a varying affects. I assume that the level of immersion from students differed depending on the activity and how the student determined its importance. However, I would think that everyone in class, including myself, is able to be more open, honest, and truthful with myself. Additionally, I think this course emphasized the importance for students to always strive to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. I Am Free Essay I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am responsible for everything I do. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly. When you are living a life that is dictated by others it becomes hard to find the purpose of your own life. Step Out of Your Comfort Zone. The term comfort zone is code for a place you live in yourself without fear, fear of the unknown, fear of failing, or fear of not being in control. Never forgive betrayal. The definition of boredom would have to have the word monotony in it somewhere–continual monotonous repetition creates boredom and certainly does not get you any closer to finding true meaning and excitement. Let there be synergy with the variety. No criticism, no judgements and no disagreements. There is no interference. We have no need to control them. We let others live their own lives and we live ours. Live and let live is one of the keys to peace in our lives. When we practice tolerance in our lives we are liberated to work on our own issues. When we use this slogan we end many of the conflicts in our lives and gain the ability to stop new ones before they build into big ones. • 7. I Am Nobody Who Are You Essay "I am nobody! Who are you?" (Dickinson, 2013, line 1). A very famous but quite controversial line from the poem written by author, Emily Dickinson. Many say she writes her poems using her thoughts, others think that she writes about her friends feelings. Quite intriguing, based on what her poems are written about. Given the fact that Emily herself faced many tragedies in her life, including the death of most of her immediate family and a best friend, and also faced many health issues herself, it isn't much of a wonder that when it came down to religion, she didn't really have an opinion. But, did she make this known in her poems? Did she try to voice her opinion, with an explanation of why she felt this way? And is she really as complicated as readers think? In the poem, "There's a certain slant of light", many religious references have been used. This poem specifically focuses only on the significant effect of a certain type of light that the narrator / speaker notices on winter evenings. But, this poem is not going to be a pleasant one, because this light is very heavy and it "oppresses" the speaker....show more content... This poem resolves to be that in the end it is so powerful, that everything, including nature herself, notices its presence, and then ends with a departure that allows for a complete but terrifying understanding of death and remorse. This poem completely sums up Emily Dickinson. This poem, along with almost every other poem of Emily's, share the same and obvious theme: Death and weirdness about anything religions. By using religious items and well known subjects relating to God and Heaven, she gives off a purely negative vibe to anyone who reads her poems. But in this particular poem, the "certain Slant of light" may be oppressive to the narrator but this is definitely not an ordinary case of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Who Am I Am Essay PASSport Essay #1 The question "who am I"? Can have a lot of individuals thinking about themselves, including myself because one might not know where to start. It is a very broad question, but having done the Strengths Finder 2.0 assessment, I realized more in depth what kind of person I really am based on my top 5 strengths. Who I am as a learner, who I am in my career and who I am as a person of faith lead me to answering the question above and understanding more of myself within. First off, who I am as a learner has changed over the past years. At times before, I wouldn't take certain classes or assignments seriously and have learned my lessons when I failed. I believe having classmates at the time who weren't as focused as I wanted to be, played a big role in my lack of understanding in classes. I understood later that if I felt learning was so important to me, I need to realize that it is my future and I needed to focus on my own. Having learner in my top 5 strengths defines me very well. Rath (2007) explains that, "The process, more than the content or the result, is especially exciting for you" (p.133). I believe this defines me as a learner because I enjoy having books in hand, opening up my notebook to write notes and learning new ways to understand the class. Regardless if the content is something I have to get in to or if I don't do well on tests, I enjoy the process of studying and learning more even when I know I didn't do so well; that is what motivates me. I believe as long as I keep this mindset and understand that this is my strength, I will continue to grow and further my education as much as possible. Even though I have failed a few of my last classes, I never let that stop me from continuing. Knowing that I have "failed" makes me realize I know I can do better and I try my hardest not to let it get me down. I will not get further if I don't keep trying and as a learner I am a motivator to myself in my studies. When it comes to who I am in my career, a few of my strengths shine through more than others. For example, I put everything I have in to my work and into my career, and looking back at how I've worked in the past compared to now, I see my strengths restorative and developer. • 10. I Am A Teacher? I am going to be a teacher because God has chosen clearly to use me to teach children and youth to become men and women of God. God has not only gifted me in ways that trace back to a life of teaching, but has shaped my life to prepare for teaching. I was never formally asked to be a teacher. I actually never really wanted to be a teacher during my childhood. I saw it as a taboo profession and didn 't want to be like my teachers, thus creating a bias against teaching in general. However, as I began to grow up and become a christian, my motives and desires changed to glorifying and serving. One of the skills that God has given me is the ability to talk to anybody in near every situation. I feel a special feeling from God when he wants me to speak to someone, and when I do, I can feel God 's presence in the conversation. He has given me a tongue that has great ability to persuade and proclaim the truth of the Gospel. When I talk to students at Tidings of Peace Christian School, they listen to what I say. This ability goes beyond just being an influence to people spiritually, I have been described a disciplinarian by many of my peers. Although often to strict, I am able to maintain control of the group by establishing my expectations clearly and firmly. The students often laugh and enjoy when I am in charge because I see tremendous value in the students enjoying education. All of the previous attributes and blessings are a result of the goodness and hand of God, and I am Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Who I Am Essay Who I am right now is because of the many people, memories, moments, and emotions I have seen and felt. Each of these things defining me and shaping me into the person I am today, and setting me up for the person I will become tomorrow. It's been nothing short of a beautiful, but yet rocky roller coaster ride. There have been times I have felt happiness and laughter, and times I have endured hardship and sadness, but it has only allowed me to become the best possible version of myself. This is who I am. One of the most important people in my life, is my brother. He is the best brother you could ever ask for, but yet he brings along great challenges, not just for himself or my family, but for me the most. I fully understood when I was about 12 years old, that my brother had disabilities, meaning he was different. He was going to face many challenges and not be able to do things that many people get to do. Things like drive a car, or go to college. As his brother, I felt that he was my responsibility the most, and the moment my mom told me about his condition, it changed my life. Not for the worst, but for the better, because in that instant, I knew I was going to have to work twice as hard in school and outside of school, so that I could become a successful person, and be able to support him, when my parents could no longer. If I gave up in life, and lost hope, it would not only affect me, but my brother, so he will always keep me going and keep me motivated. Not only was I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Who Am I? Essay Who Am I? Today as I look back at the first paper that I wrote for this class, I see that it is not the type of paper that I usually write. It is not full of big, sophisticated words. Rather it is a paper that does what it is supposed to, explain in simple english my thoughts on the subject. Those thoughts are that today most college kids are whiners and students go to college because it is the norm. I also gave a couple of abstracts to these. I never really took a stand as to which of those pertained to me. But I think that they all do in a sense. In a way I am irresponsible. I leave stuff to the last minute, I cram, and I get a attitude and just say screw it. As for the metaphor part of the first paper, I do feel that I am a parent...show more content... Quite the contrary. It's just like style. At school my approach to work is very different than when I am at my summer job. At school I can slack and still get away with it. But in the summer, if I slack, I get my ass chewed, and possibly fired. Which of these two is more like who I really am? This worst thing is, I don't even know. Who am I? What is the relationship between my self and the self that I portray, if there is a difference? I am I, or am I? What follows is the first to verses of a Queensryche song entitled "I am I." Beating with life you promised life, security, happiness. Unfortunate son cornered, cowering in the pit of circling panes of glass that surround and reveals the ever present it. "It" is my move, my every look, interpreting gestures, informing others what's undercover and lurking beneath my mask of this year's featured model. I this to much? Close your eyes. Care to look inside? I am I. I just finished listening to this song and it gave me insight on my present dilemma. I think that these verse say that on the outside, when he looks into the glass, he doesn't see what he wants to see. So he lifted the mask. But then he rethought this maneuver, do I really want everyone to know who I really am. I think that this pertains to me. The me that writes is not the real me. For me writing is a mask. When I write I hide my true self. But why? Because other people may not like who I really

  • 14. The Things That Make Me Who I Am Essay The Things that Make Me Who I am Everyone goes through life and has a number of things that they feel are important to them and their lives. Within all of those things there are one or two things that are at the top of that list; the things that are thought to be the most important to their lives. The same is for me, I have an entire list of things that I feel are important but there are two things that make my life how it is today. These two things for me are my family and the choices I have made that I believe will bring success to my future. One thing that I have learned throughout my life that I feel is one of the most important points to remember is that without your family you have nothing. That is the reason why I feel that my family is so important and one of the factors of who I have become. All of the achievements that I have accomplished throughout my life would not have been possible without my parents. They have given me endless opportunities to reach my goals, try new things, and experience so much that the world has to offer. My two older sisters and I all have grown up playing multiple sports and each of us had the dream of participating in college athletics. Like I said previously, without my parents taking us to the endless practices and tournaments I don't think the three of us would be where we are today. All three of us are getting the chance to go to college to earn a degree and to have the chance to play the sports we love. Going along with that, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. I Am By Tom Shadyac Essay The "I AM documentary" by Tom Shadyac questions people about the wrongs happening in the World and what could one do to make it right? The documentary helps one discover more than just the mere two questions posed in the beginning. One learns about how human emotion, heart, brain, society etc. together create an impact in today's world or society. In my opinion, I agree with what I AM documentary had to share with the world. We often question the existence of many things and try to figure out what is wrong in a given scenario. We tend to forget that instead of seeking for the problems in the world one should seek happiness and positivity, as these emotions leave a great impact on people. It is often heard that people are run by emotions, and to some extend it is...show more content... These small actions leave a huge impact on the way people think because at the end of the day people will remember you for who you are (character) than what you did? In the documentary too, Tom discovers that Heart is the primary intelligence and not the brain and human emotion can influence human behavior. Also, contrary to the conventional thinking, cooperation may be nature's fundamental operating principle and decision making is a norm among many species. Any step a person take is backed up by a valid reason, whether it is choosing a university or a pet dog. And all through this process they seek advice and cooperate with many others who may be guidable to them. In addition to this most of the discovery made by Tom through this documentary is already mentioned in Holy Book, spoken by several cultures and humanitarian. For example, a quote by Mother Teresa– "Kind Words are short and easy to speak but their echoes are truly endless", states the mere discoveries of Tom through the documentary. • 16. I Am A Hard Working And Dedicated Student In daily life the term personality is very freely used by people with different meanings. Some people refer to the physical appearance like height, weight, color, body built, dress, voice, etc. Some other people refer to intellectual qualities like intelligence, activeness, way of speech, thinking and reasoning abilities, etc. However our psychological definitions tell us that personality refers to individual differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. The study of personality focuses on two broad areas: One is understanding individual differences in particular personality characteristics, such as sociability or irritability. The other is understanding how the various parts of a person come together as a whole. Emotions are the intense feelings that are directed at someone or something. • 17. 'I Am' by John Clare (Poem Analysis) Essay "I Am" is a poem that was written by John Clare during the 1840s. Clare's rustic poetry had brought him considerable fame and wealth, which enabled him to escape the meagre life he had experienced up until that time. After some years, his rural style of poetry was no longer in fashion, and his poetry met with little success. Psychological pressures resulting from the need to make money to feed his family, the struggles to adapt his poetry to the changing times and his inability to reconcile his rural neighbourhood with urban London which his fame had acquainted him with, took its toll on his sanity, and led to spells in two different asylums. The poem revolves around circumstances surrounding Clare at the time, and his entire life. The...show more content... He tells the readers that he has been left behind, forgotten and abandoned to the point where he feels like he must announce his presence to the world and wishes others would acknowledge him. The friends Clare did have most likely didn't care much for him being institutionalized, therefore causing him to speak of his friends in such a pessimistic manner. He then states that there was no one to help to ease his pain in the third and fourth lines of the first stanza: "I am the self–consumer of my woes, they rise and vanish in oblivious host," he makes reference to his insanity in the phrase "oblivious host" which hints that he is usually unaware of the happenings occurring about him because of his mental health. The use of the phrase "I am" acts as a reinforcement of his identity, as though he is addressing doubts to his existence, he continuously uses rhetorical questions to ask himself about the world and everything that is happening outside his confinement. Clare speaks as though he has been left behind by those who once knew him as a full and complete person and as a man of fame and fortune. He feels disappointed to be left out and forgotten about, he suspects that something is wrong with him and wants someone to tell him the problem. He has given up on himself and feels despaired: "And yet I am, and live–like vapours tossed." The Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. I Am A Teacher? Essay Why am I a teacher? When I was a child I always had to pretend play school with my friends and I always had to be the teacher. My mom was a preschool teacher at the local day care center and I grew up seeing her cut bulletin boards and plan lessons. My best friend in middle school 's mom was also a teacher. I never wanted to be anything else and didn 't really have a back up plan if this teaching thing didn 't work out. In this paper I will take you on a journey through my educational years in elementary school and middle school, my time high school, delve into my time in college and then into my career as a teacher. When I was a child I had many happy memories. I was born and raised in Lowell, Michigan. A small, rural town with very little diversity. I attended schools in the Lowell Area School District from kindergarten through 12th grade. As I sit and reflect on my elementary school years, I have many happy memories. My grades were good and I was motivated to try my best in everything I did in school; even if it was playing soccer and volleyball which were definitely not in my skills set. My view of school was positive, I loved going. I had friends, great teachers, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Who I Am Essay When I look in the mirror I know whom I am, but society makes it difficult to understand who I am, because I was born to immigrants of Nigerian descent, and I am a first generation American, that term is sometimes used so loosely. By looking at my name they assume that I am from some island, but I am so quick to tell them that "I am Nigerian", there is another statement that normally follows this. "You do not have an accent". I wonder if I had an accent would I be considered Nigerian and not American; then I say that "My parents are Nigerian" and then that changes, so to them I am just associated with the Nigerian culture it does not make me Nigerian, there has been many discussion between my friends who are the same like me confused to...show more content... I currently enjoy shocking people with my heritage because there is still a stigma about what a "Haitian" should look like, sound like, etc. I'd say that because I was such a scared little kid who didn't talk much, my family could do little to support me because they didn't know I was having issues (A. Everyday I am on a constant race to discover who I am as an individual. I am fighting this battle whether I choose to acknowledge it or not. Donald Hernandez has written in his book Children of Immigrants: Health, Adjustment, and Public Assistance; he talks about major key points, but the most important one state "Third, because life chances differ greatly according to race and ethnicity in the United States, and because of the race and ethnic composition of immigrants to this country has shifted markedly during recent decades," (3). Although I didn't realize I was in any way "smart" until around the fourth grade, I had been skipped up to the first grade from kindergarten. While friends struggled with homework assignments, finishing them came easily to me, like riding a bike. Supposedly – I've never ridden a bike. No, my passion, and talent, from the very beginning, was with written materials. By second grade, I had my own card for the library and went there at least once a week. It was no surprise then, to my mother, although it was to me, when I scored in the 90th percentile or higher in nearly every subject on the California test of basic skills. Strangely enough, my intelligence and love for knowledge never set me apart from my peers. They either didn't know or didn't care, and I was satisfied enough with my social position to not want to change their apathetic status toward my abilities. In junior high school, I took pleasure in peaceably "blending into" my environment. I became, for all practical purposes, as much of a clone as possible without compromising my beliefs or
