Personal Narrative Essay : My Worst Birthday
My worst birthday was this year. I went to a Twins game with my dad, stepmom, and sisters, Olivia
(who is 15) and Natalie (who is 6.) The game wasn't the bad part, I actually had a lot of fun. Well...
that's after this happened.
We were waiting in line at the front gate. It was Star Wars night, and the first 1,000 people there got
a free t–shirt, so we were in line early. Everyone was thirsty, so Olivia and I were going to go across
town to my aunt's house, where our car was parked with drinks in the cooler. We ran to thetrain,
because it was almost there, and we got on the train. When the whole family was on the train, it was
basically empty. Now it was closer to noon, and a whole lot more packed. There were no seats
available, so we stood. We saw an empty seat and went and sat there. I was a little scared, because
it was just me and my sister. Oh, and, it was the wrong train. My dad told us what stop to get off
on, but gave us the wrong name. We went super far and finally called him. He told us to get off
immediately, and I was so scared I was almost in tears. An oldman nearby noticed how
uncomfortable I looked, and started reassuring us that we'll be okay, even though he didn't know
the situation. He was a very kind man. We got off at the next stop. Well, Olivia did. She got off in
front of me, and the door closed behind her and the open button wouldn't work. I went to the man
and asked him if I could sit by him to feel safe, and he said yes. I trusted him, even though I

Renaissance : The Renaissance
(H) For the world to change, people need to change. This is exactly what happened from AD
1400–AD 1600, which we now call the Renaissance. (O)The fall of the Roman Empire lead to the
'Dark Ages' where people began to decline any new changes. Then, in the beginning of the fifteenth
century, people began to change their outlook and look toward the Ancient world of Greece and
Rome with admiration. This lead to a 'rebirth' of greatness, the Renaissance. (T)The Renaissance
brought a brand–new way of thinking, new inventions and art based off of ancient designs, and
major developments in the science, math and technology world.
(M)Gradually, people began to enjoy reading and studying the old Greek and Latin books. This
opened their eyes to a whole new world. They began to slowly add Greek and Roman designs to
everything, from their art to their architecture. Their interests were redirected in a happy and
efficient life on Earth. (E) The fall of the church was a great contributor in forming the spirit of
individualism. (A) Christianity restricted individual expression and wanted unmovable faith from
everyone. (E) Humanism then came into play, where people realized and understood the great
potential of each individual. (A) People began to act and think for themselves and bringing to life
their own personal creativity. (T) This new way of thinking and the bringing back of the classical
world lead to grand new inventions and art that eventually turned the tables.

Is Too Much Homework Harmful?
Is too Much Homework Harmful?
How would you like spending your afternoon doing nothing but page after page of terrible
homework until you just could not hold your eyes open any longer. Children are not receiving the
correct amount of sleep needed for a healthy lifestyle. We go to school hours and hours each day just
to come home to more work which adds to an undesirable night to come. The amount of homework
given should be limited to a reasonable amount.
By the amount of homework given now it causes stress among teens and can lead to a great amount
of anxiety. Anxiety can cause achild to feel overwhelmed, pressured, and depressed. These three
things can cause children to do things such as dropout, give up, and even take their own life. It
could also cause some more minors things to happen such as loss of sleep. "Studies show that
only 20 percent of adolescents between the ages of 11 and 17 get the recommended amount of
sleep" (Ponte). Children are having to stay up to unreasonable times just to finish their homework
given for one day. "Esmee stays up until a little after midnight to finish her ready" (Greenfield). A
child staying up past midnight and expected to be at school by eight o'clock is a struggle and they
come to school, more–than likely, sleepy.
Teachers have plenty of time to finish work. Most teachers hangout in the hall till the bell rings
when they could be in the classroom getting ready for class. They do not use their time to make

I stared down the man's throat with fear, trying to wiggle my arm free from his grasp. (Hi Im
Xerxes. I know what you are thinking, that is a horrible way to start a story... Well.... Fine, I'll
start from the beginning) I was born in a lab, (science is fun right?) but they called it an oven. I
woke up hot, but after I cooled down I realized i could move, and I did. I waved at them with a
smile on my face and they kind of freaked out, they both screamed, which in turn made me scream,

So I looked at him again, still staring, "yes please its getting a little uncomfortable". The woman I
was sitting on snickered so I turned to look at her and what she was looking at. "What's that?" I
asked, curious, with my head was at a tilt. She looked at me "It's a book, it's something that can
entertain people, they read it and they enjoy it, well some do." I tilted my head to the side a little bit
and tried to read the book, "what does this mean?", I asked. She told me "It means to set goals and
always strive to achieve them". "Cool!" I exclaimed, "I want to set a goal", Shari looked at me with
a smile, "okay, what do you want to do in your life?" I thought about it for a minute, but before I
could answer, the man (of whom I still didn't know the name) asked me to leave, and when I asked
him why he said "you are an abomination, you shouldn't be alive and I don't want you here." Shari
looked at him, "don't be like that, he is a nice ginger–person." "Thats the problem!", he practically
shouted, "he's not a person, he is a gingerbread cookie, he shouldn't be alive!". Shari looked at me
apologetically, "Im sorry, but when he gets like this it is best to do what he asks."
So I started climbing down, when we heard a knock on the door, for the second time, I froze and
looked at the giant beings. The man went over to the door and opened it, "hello?" The person
outside asked, "what's all the ruckus?" The man inside said "oh it's nothing, just a

My Childhood Memory
When I think of the most important memory that I have from my childhood, my mind goes
directly to my childhood house to one specific day, the day I got my puppy! I was in my kitchen on
a calm day. My sister pulled up into the very cracked black top that was in our driveway. I heard
the car door slam close, then the sound of the squeaky kitchen door being opened. Eventually, I
heard my name being yelled out by not only one person, but also my niece and nephew. As I ran
down the creaky and very loud stairs I could feel that something special was going to happen. As I
turned the corner my eyes went directly to one small fluff that was on the table. My sister had
previously mentioned that she wanted a puppy and I even went to a run–down pet shop in a very
sketchy town with her. But the dog that we were on a hunt for was not at all like the one that was
on my kitchen table at that moment. I began approaching the counter, but trying to calm myself
down. Previously I had owned a giant spotted pitbull named Yeyo and so I wasn't that familiar with
tiny dogs. I was beginning to picture the amazing days I could have with this dog before even
laying a finger on her soft fluffy hair. My sister must've surely seen the amazement in my eyes
because before even saying anything to her, she began talking. Her words were a blur to me
because I was so focused on the huge deep brown eyes that were sitting on the slippery white worn
down counter in front of me. The dog was not meant to be mine

Creative Writing: The Coffee Shop
The Coffee Shop
The empty coffee shop's bells chimed as he walked through the door: a scrawny, short, and grumpy
man of around eighty years, John estimated. The old man sat down, took off his hat, and peered out
the window.
"Hello, sir, how are you this fine evening?" John inquired. No reply. Desperately trying to avoid the
stinging silence, John spoke, "Would you like something to drink?"
"Coffee. Double–double," was the response.
Outside the window, the man saw a group of schoolchildren frolicking about and was immediately
reminded of his own childhood. What struggles and hardships had it been filled with! The man,
whose name was Henry, was born in a quiet town consisting only of a few families. His parents
worked diligently on the farm, earned a couple of bills, and supported their two sons as much as
they could. Henry had been determined to stand out from his anonymous hometown. Although he
was always compared to his older brother, who surpassed him in all ways, Henry had that drive to be
someone worthy of praise and respect. His brother was somewhat of a show–off, a people pleaser,
an overly confident young man who, to Henry's discontent, seemed to have immense talents in
everything.
Henry had always tried his best, but his parents would never pay attention to him. The living room
was filled with his brother's trophies, medals, and certificates, and Henry's presence seemed to be
waning away by the hour. Eventually, Henry's determination dwindled away to nothing,

Effective Team Work
Effective Teamwork 11/30/2015 SOC/110 Professor Rowell
An effective team has strong leadership where the team leader not only recognizes what they bring
to the team but what each team member brings as well. A strong leader protects their team and
doesn't have a hidden agenda. Respect is a very important characteristic of an effective team because
if members of the team disrespect each other and put down team member's ideas, productivity could
possibly slow down because team member's willingness to contribute ideas and solutions might
diminish due to disrespectful communication between members. Open and honest communication
between team members and the team leader is important because without...show more content...
The need to be in control can be a good thing for teamwork because all groups need a leader that can
help keep the group on track, as long as everyone in the group isn't trying to be in control, which
could cause tension and confusion. There are three main components of group diversity, your core
personality, your internal dimensions, and external dimensions. Your core personality is your unique
way of experiencing and behaving in the world that surrounds you. Internal dimensions are things
that you can't control or change about yourself, your age, race, or ethnicity. External dimensions are
based on societal and experiential factors in your life for example, your religion, marital status and

SILENT! Very silent it remained, at the moment that the room saved... ghost silent, all stood still.
I opened the gated door and I faintly warped the rusted door knob, with pleasure I ushered in the

familiar topics, but hitherto then, I gained their assurance. Until the unforeseen chattering of my

Come..come now!" As I look up towards the dimmed faces smudge into one abstract canvas. The
world began to swirl into one glowing in a fearful red. "Arrest me for this ghastly

My First Day
Summer was great with the hot and steamy days, where you felt you could be surrounded by water
for hours, but school was a week away. My first day of middle school was very close. That year I
wanted to break out of my shell a little bit and meet new people, although I was always more of an
introvert. I had gone to the school, I would see for a couple of years and had received my
schedule. I now knew who my teachers were going to be, relieved, but worried I would be alone.
The morning of my first day of school was fresh with a nice soft breeze. When I entered the gate I
saw my friends dressed in their new clothes and quickly walked to them. We asked each other what
our classes were, and fortunately, a couple of us had classes together. One...show more content...
Isabella was very athletic and silly. Danielle was very intimidatingly smart. She was also very
artistic. I had seen a few of her drawings and they looked beautiful. A month later, we had a new
seating chart. I sat with a girl named Anachristina, a boy named Thomas, and another girl named
Ravyn. They had the same sense of humor as I did. As a result, our table was like a bomb filled
with laughter and with any word said we would explode. We got along very well. Anachristina
was always cracking jokes and laughing. Thomas would laugh along and was always happy.
Ravyn was sarcastic and had attitude. I always became mad at myself for not talking more to
them or learning more of them. They were welcoming when we greeted one another. A few
months into the school year everyone in my classes was comfortable with each other. It was no
longer awkward between people because we had all sat with each other and talked and laughed.
Our classes were always so fun and interesting. There was always something new to talk about in
class. Either about inside jokes or trends we thought had no point. We always played little games
where everyone was always competitive. My fifth and sixth–period class was my favorite. I have the
fondest memories in that classroom. There, we were always happy. My teacher was Mrs.
Flanagan, she was great. I was glad I had put myself out there a little more. Being more extroverted
was interesting and fun. I made new friends by just acting more like myself. Being

For my similarities, there have a couple. My first is question two. You asked " What do you hope
your child says about his experience in high school." My Father put down "I hope he says that his
experience was great, he made a lot of friends, and learned a lot. " my answer was, "I hope that I
will like my experience. I was really looking forward to meeting my new teachers." Another
similarity was in question three. You asked, " what was your experience like in high school."
Their reply, was" Pretty good! High school did a lot to prepare me for college." I answered with"
So far so good. English advanced 9 A, is a little challenging though." My final similarity, is
question five, You inquired" How and when would you like me to be in touch with you this year."
My father put down,"Phone, in the evening's." I wrote" Phone, and google classroom."( now I can't
use my phone, because it crashed last wednesday, so I cannot use it.) That is all for my similarities.
My conclusion is this: There are pretty much the same amount of similarities as there are
differences, three similarities and three differences. Me myself put down a few unique answers, but
mostly they were dull, boring answers. I was shocked at how many similarities My parents and I had,
about the questions. I thought we

Persuasive Speech
During my persuasive speech, I used an attention getter with a story to put a face on the problem of
the 5–day work week because it is something for the audience to get attached to. In my attention
getter, Jeff Campbell suffers from a stroke from working long hours as an accountant. I believe it
was effective in showing pathos to the problem of the 5–day work week. In my thesis, I clearly
stated the topic and related it to my audience by telling them that it will affect all full–time
employees in America. To conclude my introduction, I gave a preview of the what I was going to
talk about during my speech, which included the problems, causes, and solutions. I believe that my
speech was well organized because I went to different parts of the room for each of my main points,
and because of this my main points were very easy to follow. I transitioned between my main points
very smoothly with talking while walking throughout the room. Throughout my main points, I gave
multiple verbal citations over data that was collected about problems with the 5–day work week and
solutions with the 4–day work week. I did not have a way of verbally proving that my sources were
credible. I am not sure if I had a variety of different supporting materials, but I had a reliable data
and a reliable example of the solution working in the state of Utah. My format for the speech
involved pathos, ethos, and logos to use fulfill maximum effectiveness. Some persuasive strategies
that I used included telling a story, giving data to support my hypothesis, giving the audience a
reason to care about the topic, relating the reasoning about the solution to the audience, giving a
real–life example of the solution working, and giving the audience a call to action at the end of
my speech. If I used fillers, I was unaware of me using them during my speech. During this speech,
I tried to make it a priority to use some vocal variation because I have lacked that skill in past
speeches. So, during my speech, I tried to use some vocal variation especially during the reasoning
parts because vocal variation really helps with reasoning. I used appropriate movement throughout
my speech for each main point to keep the audience interested. I believe that my

Life Experience Essay
Life is full of exciting experiences for us to enjoy. However, these experiences are meant to teach
life lessons that should remain with us. In my 17 years of living, I have had many lessons to be
learned from events I have gone through. One of those lessons sticks out above the rest and it has a
humorous story to go along with it.
The story starts out with the group planning a get together while eating breakfast at Mcdonald's.
Ideas were flowing out of our heads like a river. We could not agree on a plan of action for the
longest time. Finally, it was decided that we should go to Kenzie's house after she said her dad
would cook for us. I was immediately down for that idea because I knew her dad makes the best
chicken wings ever. The rest of the day for me was spent thinking about what to wear that night.
Eventually, the time came for heading over to Kenzie's house. Bailey, another girl in the group,
asked me to give her a ride since she did not have her driver's license. Because of this, we were
one of the last ones to make it to Kenzie's. In the time that we missed the group decided that they
wanted to go and toilet paper some of our friend's houses that lived close to Kenzie. I had never
done something like this before. However, the excitement of doing this and avoid being caught
appealed to me. We all piled into the cars and headed to Wal–Mart to buy the toilet paper. We had an
interesting event that happened to us while we were in Wal–Mart. The event was when

Reflective Essay Writing
I totally agree with what the author is saying in the text. It takes time to get a good product out
even though we think some people are deep and wonderful they still have the same struggles that
we have when it comes to writing. I like this text because it is realistic it is giving an account of
first drafts from common day people and shows how it is even for professional writers have
problems with. This point is important because as people we sometimes feel we are not as good
or capable of doing something not realizing that the people we look up to have the same problems
we do. Another point that I agree with the author on is that you have to start somewhere. Many
times as writers we don't know where to start when it comes to writing. That being said we will
just sit and think for ten twenty minutes when we could've just been information on the paper and
then editing it later. In addition I liked that the author used examples from his professional
experience when it came to writing food reviews. By him using details like how he went to the
restaurant and sat down with friends and took notes of what was said. This was good to me
because it helps me connect with him and the things that he does to write his reviews. The purpose
you have for assigning this is to show us that everyone has struggles writing. By us doing this it
makes us realize that it is normal and okay for us not to know exactly what we are writing about or
what we want to say. This gives us confidence

Persuasive Essay About Procrastination
Have any of you ever procrastinated before? If the answer was yes, you would not be the only one.
We all procrastinate from time to time. Statistics showed that procrastination affects over 20 percent
of the population, and 85 to 95 percent of students have problems associated with procrastination.
All the time, not doing the important task when we know we should can lead to anxiety, guilt,
stress, and even depression. In the reality, the activities we were doing while procrastinating are
never fun or relaxing because we know we should be doing work. So, procrastination is so horrific,
then why do we do it? Therefore, today, there are two subtopics procrastination that I want to talk
about which are the reasons why we procrastinate and some strategies on how to avoid it.
Now, let's talk about what makes us procrastinate. There are three broad categories that most of
typical reasons for procrastination could fall into which are resentment, fear of success, and fear of
failure. First, how does procrastination express resentment? Taking away autonomy from people who
think they are competent can cause procrastination due to dissatisfaction. For example, in the
workplace, you may procrastinate when you feel your job doesn't allow enough autonomy, when
you don't see the significance of your contribution, when you don't get much feedback about your
work, or when you feel frustrated, resentful, or bored with a task. Also, the feeling of gaining
control over the rules or

The Pros And Cons Of Stress
Top of the To–Do List "How many cups of coffee does it take until I risk death?" and, "How many
hours of sleep do I really need?", dances around one's cluttered mind, between the piles of ungraded
English papers or the hours spent in the dimming library, cramming in as much information before
that Psychology final. Humans struggle to find that off switch in the back of their heads, for 24
hours is never enough to get anything done. Since our society embraces working hard, both
academically and in the workforce, many experience health scares due to stress, bringing up the
tricky decision: to put health or work first. While choosing between the two evils presents itself a
tough decision, many consider it an important one, for true comfort in life is not found buried
under textbooks and stacks of paper. What difference does a few more hours of work make? So
what if little Tommy had a little league game that you missed; work is more important? It's normal
for many to start working at a young age, whether defined as schooling or occupational. Exerting a
considerable amount of attention for a long period of time creates tension, and not just within
relationships, but physically as well. Headaches, stomach aches, and fatigue are just some of the
awful symptoms of working hard ("Stress Management"), and while popping Advils left and right
suppresses those feelings aside for a while, it's never gone forever. Stress weighs upon the body like

The Importance Of Technology In Education
Despite its importance, writing is not given enough attention in schools compare to reading. Since
the turn of the 21st century, "there have been a number of significant changes in the contexts in
which we teach and in which our students learn to write". Our culture has taken a digital shift in all
aspects of life, including schooling and the way students are exposed to writing curriculum.

programs and practices affected most directly by an emphasis on standards and assessments as a
part of a growing concern with accountability. Given a focus on reading, rather than writing or
literacy more generally...this movement has had an impact on teaching and learning at all levels of
public education" (Robinson, McKenna & Conradi, 2012, p. 243).
In a digital world, it is no secret that technology has influenced the way students learn in schools.
As referenced by Robinson, McKenna and Conradi, in 2005 Leu, an educational psychologist and
professor, "reflected that the internet as well as evolving technologies are not technological issues
but literacy issues" (Robinson, McKenna & Conradi, 2012, p. 266). I agree with Leu since I
believe technology is a positive tool for student learning if used correctly, however, there is a
difference between using technology to support learning and using technology to do the learning.

  • 1. Personal Narrative Essay : My Worst Birthday My worst birthday was this year. I went to a Twins game with my dad, stepmom, and sisters, Olivia (who is 15) and Natalie (who is 6.) The game wasn't the bad part, I actually had a lot of fun. Well... that's after this happened. We were waiting in line at the front gate. It was Star Wars night, and the first 1,000 people there got a free t–shirt, so we were in line early. Everyone was thirsty, so Olivia and I were going to go across town to my aunt's house, where our car was parked with drinks in the cooler. We ran to thetrain, because it was almost there, and we got on the train. When the whole family was on the train, it was basically empty. Now it was closer to noon, and a whole lot more packed. There were no seats available, so we stood. We saw an empty seat and went and sat there. I was a little scared, because it was just me and my sister. Oh, and, it was the wrong train. My dad told us what stop to get off on, but gave us the wrong name. We went super far and finally called him. He told us to get off immediately, and I was so scared I was almost in tears. An oldman nearby noticed how uncomfortable I looked, and started reassuring us that we'll be okay, even though he didn't know the situation. He was a very kind man. We got off at the next stop. Well, Olivia did. She got off in front of me, and the door closed behind her and the open button wouldn't work. I went to the man and asked him if I could sit by him to feel safe, and he said yes. I trusted him, even though I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Renaissance : The Renaissance (H) For the world to change, people need to change. This is exactly what happened from AD 1400–AD 1600, which we now call the Renaissance. (O)The fall of the Roman Empire lead to the 'Dark Ages' where people began to decline any new changes. Then, in the beginning of the fifteenth century, people began to change their outlook and look toward the Ancient world of Greece and Rome with admiration. This lead to a 'rebirth' of greatness, the Renaissance. (T)The Renaissance brought a brand–new way of thinking, new inventions and art based off of ancient designs, and major developments in the science, math and technology world. (M)Gradually, people began to enjoy reading and studying the old Greek and Latin books. This opened their eyes to a whole new world. They began to slowly add Greek and Roman designs to everything, from their art to their architecture. Their interests were redirected in a happy and efficient life on Earth. (E) The fall of the church was a great contributor in forming the spirit of individualism. (A) Christianity restricted individual expression and wanted unmovable faith from everyone. (E) Humanism then came into play, where people realized and understood the great potential of each individual. (A) People began to act and think for themselves and bringing to life their own personal creativity. (T) This new way of thinking and the bringing back of the classical world lead to grand new inventions and art that eventually turned the tables. (M) Art and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Is Too Much Homework Harmful? Is too Much Homework Harmful? How would you like spending your afternoon doing nothing but page after page of terrible homework until you just could not hold your eyes open any longer. Children are not receiving the correct amount of sleep needed for a healthy lifestyle. We go to school hours and hours each day just to come home to more work which adds to an undesirable night to come. The amount of homework given should be limited to a reasonable amount. By the amount of homework given now it causes stress among teens and can lead to a great amount of anxiety. Anxiety can cause achild to feel overwhelmed, pressured, and depressed. These three things can cause children to do things such as dropout, give up, and even take their own life. It could also cause some more minors things to happen such as loss of sleep. "Studies show that only 20 percent of adolescents between the ages of 11 and 17 get the recommended amount of sleep" (Ponte). Children are having to stay up to unreasonable times just to finish their homework given for one day. "Esmee stays up until a little after midnight to finish her ready" (Greenfield). A child staying up past midnight and expected to be at school by eight o'clock is a struggle and they come to school, more–than likely, sleepy. Teachers have plenty of time to finish work. Most teachers hangout in the hall till the bell rings when they could be in the classroom getting ready for class. They do not use their time to make Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. At Least 750 Words Essay At Least 750 Words I stared down the man's throat with fear, trying to wiggle my arm free from his grasp. (Hi Im Xerxes. I know what you are thinking, that is a horrible way to start a story... Well.... Fine, I'll start from the beginning) I was born in a lab, (science is fun right?) but they called it an oven. I woke up hot, but after I cooled down I realized i could move, and I did. I waved at them with a smile on my face and they kind of freaked out, they both screamed, which in turn made me scream, (my voice is high and very nasally so you can imagine it now hehe) and I jumped off of what I now know is a cooking tray and sprinted as fast as my stubby gingery legs could take me. I tried to run into the next room hoping to escape these...show more content... So I looked at him again, still staring, "yes please its getting a little uncomfortable". The woman I was sitting on snickered so I turned to look at her and what she was looking at. "What's that?" I asked, curious, with my head was at a tilt. She looked at me "It's a book, it's something that can entertain people, they read it and they enjoy it, well some do." I tilted my head to the side a little bit and tried to read the book, "what does this mean?", I asked. She told me "It means to set goals and always strive to achieve them". "Cool!" I exclaimed, "I want to set a goal", Shari looked at me with a smile, "okay, what do you want to do in your life?" I thought about it for a minute, but before I could answer, the man (of whom I still didn't know the name) asked me to leave, and when I asked him why he said "you are an abomination, you shouldn't be alive and I don't want you here." Shari looked at him, "don't be like that, he is a nice ginger–person." "Thats the problem!", he practically shouted, "he's not a person, he is a gingerbread cookie, he shouldn't be alive!". Shari looked at me apologetically, "Im sorry, but when he gets like this it is best to do what he asks." So I started climbing down, when we heard a knock on the door, for the second time, I froze and looked at the giant beings. The man went over to the door and opened it, "hello?" The person outside asked, "what's all the ruckus?" The man inside said "oh it's nothing, just a Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Childhood Memory When I think of the most important memory that I have from my childhood, my mind goes directly to my childhood house to one specific day, the day I got my puppy! I was in my kitchen on a calm day. My sister pulled up into the very cracked black top that was in our driveway. I heard the car door slam close, then the sound of the squeaky kitchen door being opened. Eventually, I heard my name being yelled out by not only one person, but also my niece and nephew. As I ran down the creaky and very loud stairs I could feel that something special was going to happen. As I turned the corner my eyes went directly to one small fluff that was on the table. My sister had previously mentioned that she wanted a puppy and I even went to a run–down pet shop in a very sketchy town with her. But the dog that we were on a hunt for was not at all like the one that was on my kitchen table at that moment. I began approaching the counter, but trying to calm myself down. Previously I had owned a giant spotted pitbull named Yeyo and so I wasn't that familiar with tiny dogs. I was beginning to picture the amazing days I could have with this dog before even laying a finger on her soft fluffy hair. My sister must've surely seen the amazement in my eyes because before even saying anything to her, she began talking. Her words were a blur to me because I was so focused on the huge deep brown eyes that were sitting on the slippery white worn down counter in front of me. The dog was not meant to be mine Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Creative Writing: The Coffee Shop The Coffee Shop The empty coffee shop's bells chimed as he walked through the door: a scrawny, short, and grumpy man of around eighty years, John estimated. The old man sat down, took off his hat, and peered out the window. "Hello, sir, how are you this fine evening?" John inquired. No reply. Desperately trying to avoid the stinging silence, John spoke, "Would you like something to drink?" "Coffee. Double–double," was the response. Outside the window, the man saw a group of schoolchildren frolicking about and was immediately reminded of his own childhood. What struggles and hardships had it been filled with! The man, whose name was Henry, was born in a quiet town consisting only of a few families. His parents worked diligently on the farm, earned a couple of bills, and supported their two sons as much as they could. Henry had been determined to stand out from his anonymous hometown. Although he was always compared to his older brother, who surpassed him in all ways, Henry had that drive to be someone worthy of praise and respect. His brother was somewhat of a show–off, a people pleaser, an overly confident young man who, to Henry's discontent, seemed to have immense talents in everything. Henry had always tried his best, but his parents would never pay attention to him. The living room was filled with his brother's trophies, medals, and certificates, and Henry's presence seemed to be waning away by the hour. Eventually, Henry's determination dwindled away to nothing, Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Effective Team Work Effective Teamwork 11/30/2015 SOC/110 Professor Rowell An effective team has strong leadership where the team leader not only recognizes what they bring to the team but what each team member brings as well. A strong leader protects their team and doesn't have a hidden agenda. Respect is a very important characteristic of an effective team because if members of the team disrespect each other and put down team member's ideas, productivity could possibly slow down because team member's willingness to contribute ideas and solutions might diminish due to disrespectful communication between members. Open and honest communication between team members and the team leader is important because without...show more content... The need to be in control can be a good thing for teamwork because all groups need a leader that can help keep the group on track, as long as everyone in the group isn't trying to be in control, which could cause tension and confusion. Your core personality is your unique way of experiencing and behaving in the world that surrounds you. Internal dimensions are things that you can't control or change about yourself, your age, race, or ethnicity. • 8. Short Story SILENT! Very silent it remained, at the moment that the room saved... ghost silent, all stood still. I opened the gated door and I faintly warped the rusted door knob, with pleasure I ushered in the friendly officers. A big sizable and nice, trusting smile I kept , to make sure they don't sprout any certain suspicions. I sat them down right above where the body lied to rot. We prattled on about familiar topics, but hitherto then, I gained their assurance. Until the unforeseen chattering of my teeth became more violent while becoming rapid. More and more the chills of my back came and went, every second spreading everywhere around my body. My eyes went ablaze. My ears started to RING. I scratched myself violently I could feel my...show more content... This was the first time I ever questioned my prudences. Am I lying to myself. This can't be! I'm as healthy as ever! "No more, NO MORE!" "MOCKERY!" I yelled. My hands sept into the ground as the small timber sticks punctured my skin and heaved the loose wooden plank. The vile body parts caught my sight that tormented me. "I concede!" I cried vociferously "I beg of you! Come..come now!" As I look up towards the dimmed faces smudge into one abstract canvas. The world began to swirl into one glowing in a fearful red. "Arrest me for this ghastly transgression!"My heart was getting beat like a drum, it felt like my heart would leap out of my chest. The group of men just stood there in a thorny manner, they looked at me as if I was asinine. The room presented me with shvers, nevertheless it wasn't only the temperature swooning. Why weren't they taking me away. Couldn't they see the cold and limp body parts. I felt that feeling again. The chills clipped inside of me like gunshots piercing by back and spine. I witnessed the eye gleam in a crimson red color. I briskly grabbed the odious eye. Held it in front of their very eyes and seized my valiant fist. It will no longer tantalize me any longer. I looked down the gush that permeated my palm which felt like an eternity at last I pulled a long awaited grin that pulled back and made a small furrow in my smile as it showed my yellowed putrid teeth. • 9. My First Day Summer was great with the hot and steamy days, where you felt you could be surrounded by water for hours, but school was a week away. My first day of middle school was very close. That year I wanted to break out of my shell a little bit and meet new people, although I was always more of an introvert. I had gone to the school, I would see for a couple of years and had received my schedule. I now knew who my teachers were going to be, relieved, but worried I would be alone. The morning of my first day of school was fresh with a nice soft breeze. When I entered the gate I saw my friends dressed in their new clothes and quickly walked to them. We asked each other what our classes were, and fortunately, a couple of us had classes together. One...show more content... Isabella was very athletic and silly. Danielle was very intimidatingly smart. She was also very artistic. I had seen a few of her drawings and they looked beautiful. A month later, we had a new seating chart. I sat with a girl named Anachristina, a boy named Thomas, and another girl named Ravyn. They had the same sense of humor as I did. As a result, our table was like a bomb filled with laughter and with any word said we would explode. We got along very well. Anachristina was always cracking jokes and laughing. Thomas would laugh along and was always happy. Ravyn was sarcastic and had attitude. I always became mad at myself for not talking more to them or learning more of them. They were welcoming when we greeted one another. A few months into the school year everyone in my classes was comfortable with each other. It was no longer awkward between people because we had all sat with each other and talked and laughed. Our classes were always so fun and interesting. There was always something new to talk about in class. Either about inside jokes or trends we thought had no point. We always played little games where everyone was always competitive. My fifth and sixth–period class was my favorite. I have the fondest memories in that classroom. There, we were always happy. My teacher was Mrs. Flanagan, she was great. I was glad I had put myself out there a little more. Being more extroverted was interesting and fun. I made new friends by just acting more like myself. Being Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Essay I guess that I will start with my interests. Right now they lie in writing novels, geology, and paleontology. Geology, is the study of minerals, rocks and stones, and Gems. Paleontology is the study of extinct animals, such as the Dodo Bird, or the Titanoboa. I have already began several books, and three short stories, but I have not finished a single one. My stories seem drab, or rather, they don't have that certain pull, that is needed to convince the reader that they want to read it. I am hoping that at the end of this year, I will have gained the knowledge to make my stories much more interesting. ( I also need help with my verbs, and adjectives, and pronouns, all of it. They were forgotten over the summer, and I can't seem to...show more content... For my similarities, there have a couple. My first is question two. You asked " What do you hope your child says about his experience in high school." My Father put down "I hope he says that his experience was great, he made a lot of friends, and learned a lot. " my answer was, "I hope that I will like my experience. I was really looking forward to meeting my new teachers." Another similarity was in question three. You asked, " what was your experience like in high school." Their reply, was" Pretty good! High school did a lot to prepare me for college." I answered with" So far so good. English advanced 9 A, is a little challenging though." My final similarity, is question five, You inquired" How and when would you like me to be in touch with you this year." My father put down,"Phone, in the evening's." I wrote" Phone, and google classroom."( now I can't use my phone, because it crashed last wednesday, so I cannot use it.) That is all for my similarities. My conclusion is this: There are pretty much the same amount of similarities as there are differences, three similarities and three differences. Me myself put down a few unique answers, but mostly they were dull, boring answers. I was shocked at how many similarities My parents and I had, about the questions. • 11. Persuasive Speech During my persuasive speech, I used an attention getter with a story to put a face on the problem of the 5–day work week because it is something for the audience to get attached to. In my attention getter, Jeff Campbell suffers from a stroke from working long hours as an accountant. I believe it was effective in showing pathos to the problem of the 5–day work week. In my thesis, I clearly stated the topic and related it to my audience by telling them that it will affect all full–time employees in America. To conclude my introduction, I gave a preview of the what I was going to talk about during my speech, which included the problems, causes, and solutions. I believe that my speech was well organized because I went to different parts of the room for each of my main points, and because of this my main points were very easy to follow. I transitioned between my main points very smoothly with talking while walking throughout the room. Throughout my main points, I gave multiple verbal citations over data that was collected about problems with the 5–day work week and solutions with the 4–day work week. I did not have a way of verbally proving that my sources were credible. I am not sure if I had a variety of different supporting materials, but I had a reliable data and a reliable example of the solution working in the state of Utah. My format for the speech involved pathos, ethos, and logos to use fulfill maximum effectiveness. Some persuasive strategies that I used included telling a story, giving data to support my hypothesis, giving the audience a reason to care about the topic, relating the reasoning about the solution to the audience, giving a real–life example of the solution working, and giving the audience a call to action at the end of my speech. If I used fillers, I was unaware of me using them during my speech. During this speech, I tried to make it a priority to use some vocal variation because I have lacked that skill in past speeches. So, during my speech, I tried to use some vocal variation especially during the reasoning parts because vocal variation really helps with reasoning. In my 17 years of living, I have had many lessons to be learned from events I have gone through. One of those lessons sticks out above the rest and it has a humorous story to go along with it. The story starts out with the group planning a get together while eating breakfast at Mcdonald's. Ideas were flowing out of our heads like a river. We could not agree on a plan of action for the longest time. Finally, it was decided that we should go to Kenzie's house after she said her dad would cook for us. I was immediately down for that idea because I knew her dad makes the best chicken wings ever. The rest of the day for me was spent thinking about what to wear that night. Eventually, the time came for heading over to Kenzie's house. Bailey, another girl in the group, asked me to give her a ride since she did not have her driver's license. Because of this, we were one of the last ones to make it to Kenzie's. In the time that we missed the group decided that they wanted to go and toilet paper some of our friend's houses that lived close to Kenzie. I had never done something like this before. However, the excitement of doing this and avoid being caught appealed to me. We all piled into the cars and headed to Wal–Mart to buy the toilet paper. We had an interesting event that happened to us while we were in Wal–Mart. The event was when Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Reflective Essay Writing I totally agree with what the author is saying in the text. It takes time to get a good product out even though we think some people are deep and wonderful they still have the same struggles that we have when it comes to writing. I like this text because it is realistic it is giving an account of first drafts from common day people and shows how it is even for professional writers have problems with. This point is important because as people we sometimes feel we are not as good or capable of doing something not realizing that the people we look up to have the same problems we do. Another point that I agree with the author on is that you have to start somewhere. Many times as writers we don't know where to start when it comes to writing. That being said we will just sit and think for ten twenty minutes when we could've just been information on the paper and then editing it later. In addition I liked that the author used examples from his professional experience when it came to writing food reviews. By him using details like how he went to the restaurant and sat down with friends and took notes of what was said. This was good to me because it helps me connect with him and the things that he does to write his reviews. The purpose you have for assigning this is to show us that everyone has struggles writing. By us doing this it makes us realize that it is normal and okay for us not to know exactly what we are writing about or what we want to say. This gives us confidence Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Three days later I received a phone call from a Recruiter at C.R. England and while on the phone we went over all the information before setting a time and a date for leaving for Salt Lake City, Utah. When the day came to leave for Salt Lake City, Utah my parents took me to the Greyhound terminal to prepare to leave. Thirty minutes later we boarded the bus to leave our first stop was in Missouri I stayed on the same bus and from there I went to Kansas where I had to switch buses but I had to wait one hour before the other bus got there after boarding the bus for going to the next stop I was in Colorado where I had to wait two hours and thirty minutes before boarding my next bus to Wyoming once I got to Wyoming the next bus was ready and it had no air conditioner that I remember so the last bit of traveling was so warm that everyone on it was hot even a eight month old baby everyone tried their best to help the mother out to make...show more content... • 15. Persuasive Essay About Procrastination Have any of you ever procrastinated before? If the answer was yes, you would not be the only one. We all procrastinate from time to time. Statistics showed that procrastination affects over 20 percent of the population, and 85 to 95 percent of students have problems associated with procrastination. All the time, not doing the important task when we know we should can lead to anxiety, guilt, stress, and even depression. In the reality, the activities we were doing while procrastinating are never fun or relaxing because we know we should be doing work. So, procrastination is so horrific, then why do we do it? Therefore, today, there are two subtopics procrastination that I want to talk about which are the reasons why we procrastinate and some strategies on how to avoid it. Now, let's talk about what makes us procrastinate. There are three broad categories that most of typical reasons for procrastination could fall into which are resentment, fear of success, and fear of failure. First, how does procrastination express resentment? Taking away autonomy from people who think they are competent can cause procrastination due to dissatisfaction. For example, in the workplace, you may procrastinate when you feel your job doesn't allow enough autonomy, when you don't see the significance of your contribution, when you don't get much feedback about your work, or when you feel frustrated, resentful, or bored with a task. Also, the feeling of gaining control over the rules or Get more content on HelpWriting.net

They seem pretty impressed with my idea of 'Smartly Engineered Interior DГ©cor'. I have prepared for it the whole month with my team. As I wake up, my smart wrist band tells me I had a sound seven hour sleep, gives me details about my heart beats per minute, body temperature and the amount of workout needed. My parents helped me realize this dream, trusted in me even when I faltered and supported my cradle throughout this journey. When I couldn't make it to the IITs, I was shattered. I had always been good at managerial tasks, had leadership qualities, oratory and writing skills, but I never realized until my graduation that these skills were going to take me a long way in my career. After being part of innumerable organizing committees at college and doing exceptionally well in these tasks, I felt these qualities needed to be honed and put to use. That's when I decided of going for an MBA and started preparing for the CAT. With my hard work and ambition to make it to the IIMs, I managed to score a decent percentile of 98.7 and ended up in IIM Indore. I had a very good CV, good academics, extra curricular and did really well in the WAT and GDPI rounds. These were things I was good at and enjoyed doing. This was when I fully realized, that I would never half heartedly take up any job. I performed well in my MBA and got placed for a package of 18.6 lacs in Sunsilk. I started being offered jobs with higher packages and switched 4 companies thereafter. There came a point when I felt, it was the right time to take a pause, think of my dream and put in efforts to realize it. During one of those days, while I was discussing this with my parents and was trying to come up with a unique idea that I could pull off, my mother suggested to me that I should do something Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Short Story After talking to Lucy, Seth spent the rest of the evening at his favorite pastimes: drinking, throwing up, drinking, watching television, drinking while watching television, throwing up some more, a sudden round of cold chills, and drinking. The new television was one he had scored from a Craigslist ad he came across after having left from his visit with Dr. Stevens. It was one of those now out–of–date projection TVs people seemed to be always trying to get rid of in exchange for the more modern flat screens LCD that are much lighter and have a better quality picture and sound. That was just fine by Seth, though. The new boob tube may have been a nuisance to its previous owner, but it was still better than the last one he had and at a...show more content... • 18. The Pros And Cons Of Stress Top of the To–Do List "How many cups of coffee does it take until I risk death?" and, "How many hours of sleep do I really need?", dances around one's cluttered mind, between the piles of ungraded English papers or the hours spent in the dimming library, cramming in as much information before that Psychology final. Humans struggle to find that off switch in the back of their heads, for 24 hours is never enough to get anything done. Since our society embraces working hard, both academically and in the workforce, many experience health scares due to stress, bringing up the tricky decision: to put health or work first. While choosing between the two evils presents itself a tough decision, many consider it an important one, for true comfort in life is not found buried under textbooks and stacks of paper. What difference does a few more hours of work make? So what if little Tommy had a little league game that you missed; work is more important? It's normal for many to start working at a young age, whether defined as schooling or occupational. Exerting a considerable amount of attention for a long period of time creates tension, and not just within relationships, but physically as well. Headaches, stomach aches, and fatigue are just some of the awful symptoms of working hard ("Stress Management"), and while popping Advils left and right suppresses those feelings aside for a while, it's never gone forever. • 19. The Importance Of Technology In Education Despite its importance, writing is not given enough attention in schools compare to reading. Since the turn of the 21st century, "there have been a number of significant changes in the contexts in which we teach and in which our students learn to write". Our culture has taken a digital shift in all aspects of life, including schooling and the way students are exposed to writing curriculum. Robinson, McKenna and Conradi state that "The context of schooling has also changed, with programs and practices affected most directly by an emphasis on standards and assessments as a part of a growing concern with accountability. Given a focus on reading, rather than writing or literacy more generally...this movement has had an impact on teaching and learning at all levels of public education" (Robinson, McKenna & Conradi, 2012, p. 243). In a digital world, it is no secret that technology has influenced the way students learn in schools. As referenced by Robinson, McKenna and Conradi, in 2005 Leu, an educational psychologist and professor, "reflected that the internet as well as evolving technologies are not technological issues but literacy issues" (Robinson, McKenna & Conradi, 2012, p. 266). I agree with Leu since I believe technology is a positive tool for student learning if used correctly, however, there is a difference between using technology to support learning and using technology to do the learning. Digital versions of printed text included hypermedia which allows readers to use Get more content on HelpWriting.net
