Objective
I am postgraduate student that studiedB. Sc.Marine Biologyand Oceanography at Plymouth University. I discoveredmy
passion for conservationof ecosystems and vulnerable organisms whilst studying my degree and chose modules relating to
conservationinmy thirdyear: "Marine EcosystemConservation" and "Ecology and Conservationof Marine Vertebrates".
These modules taught conservation practices andpolicies that enforce these practices.I also wrote grant proposals for the
conservationof organisms and ecosystems as part of the modules’ coursework and I am now eager to gain experience in
the conservationandecology fields.I hold a full,clean driving license and have my own car.
Experience
Research Assistant Technician at ADAS 23rd July 2015 - Present
This positioninvolves testing the endurance of oil seed rape pods that have been exposedto different podsealant
treatments.Myroles also included maintaining a clean and hygienic laboratoryenvironment,abiding by healthand safety
practices and working efficientlyand independentlyto reach targets.
Field Sales Representative at Eagle Eye Worldwide July - Aug 2014
This was a summer job betweenmy second and thirdyear of university.This opportunity involvedtraining inpositive attitude
maintenance, communicationand customer service skills,and interacting withapproximately100 customers per day.
Research Assistant with Operation Wallacea July - Aug 2013
This experience involvedworking ina team of researchassistants inwhichwe conducted transect and quadrat surveys on
coral species’diversity,tagging Caribbean reef sharks and conducting a manatee surveyto observe their population
trends.Working in a team enhanced my teamwork,effective communicationand co-operationskills.During this expedition
I also qualified as an Open Water PADI diver withUnderwater Naturalist andFish Identificationspecialties.

I originallyjoinedthis company to gain some work experience and, when I finishedmy A levels,theyofferedme a summer
job until I starteduniversity.My roles includedtesting the dairy products for bacteria,levels of fat,salt,water etc.,making up
stock solutions (e.g.agar solution)and maintaining a clean and hygienic laboratoryenvironment.This job taught me how to
work efficientlyand independently in a demanding industry.

This being my first job,I learnt the importance of punctuality,organizationand teamwork betweencolleagues.My
communicationskills greatlyimprovedwhilst waitressing as it involvedeffectivelycommunicating betweencustomers and
the different teams of staff to ensure an efficient andenjoyable service for customers.Other roles includedmaintaining a
hygienic working environment for the preparationof food and providing a high quality of customer service.

B.Sc. Marine Biology and Oceanography, finishing my first andsecond years with a 2:1 grade and I am currentlyawaiting
the results of my thirdyear. Studying this course greatly developedme as a personand a scientist inthe following areas:
 Presentation skills fromperforming various presentations throughout the course,including a presentationonour final
year projects at Plymouth University’s annual marine biology conference.
 Laboratoryskills inmicrobiology(e.g. streak plate and gram staintechnques), identificationof marine organisms
and organism husbandry.
 Fieldwork skills,including quadrat and transect techniques on rocky and sandy shores, and boat skills,including
dredge and box core samples and the use of CTDs, secchi disks etc.
 Report writing,including statisticalanalysis using MINITAB 16, and producing researchgrant proposals for the
conservationof marine organisms/ecosystems.
 Whilst at universityI became a member of the Marine Biological Associationand subscribe to the Marine Biologist
magazine. I also joinedthe Marine Biology Society,whichconsistedof guest lecture talks onconservation,oil
extractionetc., and the Netball Society.

science.I am a member of Francis Scaife Sports Centre,at which I take part in exercise classes,such as zumba and
boxercise,badminton and swimming to keep fit and healthy. I also enjoy playing netball,which aids my teamwork and
cooperationskills.
