To whom it may concern,
Reference: Heghine Poghosyan
Heghine has successfully completed a one-year placement with the British Red
Cross Youth team in Liverpool. Heghine has been a highly valued member of the
team, really developing her skills and experiences in many areas, including a
fluent grasp of the English language.
Heghine began enthusiastically and has assisted the youth team to run
workshops teaching children and young people topics such as every day first aid,
refugee awareness and HIV awareness. She has developed new presentations,
workshops, and projects that have been age appropriate and interactive, showing
a good understanding of educational development needs.
Heghine has gained in confidence in delivering a range of sessions and learned to
adapt the content to different age groups and abilities. She has really developed
her presentation skills and is able to change the style to suit the audience. She
has gained experience of delivering sessions in a variety of different settings for
example school, college, community and targeted work in deprived areas of
Merseyside.
Heghine has planned, delivered and evaluated a 3 week peer education project to
children aged 9-10yrs. The sessions included every day first aid, Red Cross
awareness and Refugee awareness. The teacher from the project evaluated the
sessions and said that the content and the delivery style of the sessions were
excellent and that the children enjoyed the sessions and most importantly gained
confidence, feel able and willing to help and respond to an emergency and
empathy for refugees.
Heghine also volunteered within the Refugee services team on a weekly basis.
Wang-Sam Sin, Refugee Awareness project manager was asked about her
contribution:
"Heghine has provided direct suppoft to asylum seekers and refugees who have
newly anived in Liverpool. Often the seryice users are mentally and emotionally
dlstressed. The work that Heghine did was to provide interpreting and emotional
suppoft as well as practical advice and information to help personal expeiences

of migration to the city to empathise with the situations of the service users and
showed great dedication to the work of the Red Cross through her punctuality and
reliability as long term volunteers".
Heghine is very good at administration and planning of the youth and schools
projects, she has coped with stress and demands of the project well. She is
always very punctual and reliable.
Heghine has also used her skills in lT to design and produce leaflets and flyers
that explain our work to a range of partners including schools and youth groups.
She has taught alongside other volunteers and staff and delivered to a total of
approximately 6,750 children and young people. This is a huge achievement.
Heghine has worked with efficiency and enthusiasm all the way through.
Heghine has also made the most of engaging professionally and socially with
colleagues of the Red Cross, becoming a regular volunteer for fundraising and
refugee service.
As project manager I have had the pleasure of working with Heghine. She is
enthusiastic in all her work and is able to engage the children and young people in
learning theory as well as practical activities.
Heghine has made the most of every opportunity offered to her and should be
very proud of what she has achieved. The British Red Cross can happily
recommend her as a dependable individual suitable for further study, employment
and volunteering.
I wish her all the best for the future.
Yours faithfully,
Carmel Parr
